"Take all this stuff, including this mechanical dinosaur!"
"Yes!"
The Gendarmes responded, immediately splitting up to get busy.
"Is this the downfall of Batman?"
Amanda looked at the Batman base before her and muttered softly to herself.
As a member of Tianyan Society, she had always believed that metahumans were uncontrollable and untrustworthy beings. The government should establish order to govern and control society, rather than letting a few individuals in tight suits act as vigilantes on the streets, exercising their so-called right to combat evil forces.
This was also why she disliked Batman.
Of course, she originally held similar hostile thoughts towards Eric, but ever since Eric became the so-called American ruler, redefining social rules and combating criminals, her mindset had quietly shifted.
Eric's identity in her heart was no longer just a common superhero, but a rule-maker.
Therefore, she would strictly execute Eric's orders, even treating him as an object of her absolute loyalty.
"Yes, he's finished, Batman is finished!"
Amanda looked at the busy Gendarmerie, her expression grave as she spoke.
"Yes, he's finished!"
Alfred whispered.
"What?"
A young man in a black uniform with a blue flying eagle emblem on his chest asked Alfred.
"The dinosaur in the Batcave has been subdued by them. We need to speed up and leave here, Master Grayson."
Alfred looked up, and though his expression was somewhat pained, he still controlled his emotions and spoke to Grayson.
The slightly youthful young man he called "Master Grayson" was Dick Grayson!
The first Robin, and later Nightwing.
He was currently in a solo flight state, having just left Batman, and had not yet officially used the title Nightwing.
The moment he encountered Eric, Batman sent a message to Dick, telling him to quickly return to Wayne Manor and take Alfred away from the manor.
This was also why Alfred was able to escape the manor in the first instance.
"It's alright, Alfred, that's just a mechanical creature. When we return to the manor, I'll fix him for you. You might not know, but when I was at the circus, besides being an aerialist, I also worked part-time as our circus's mechanical fault repairman."
Dick boasted to Alfred.
He used to be the youngest member of the Flying Graysons, an aerialist family in the circus, the son of John and Mary Grayson. They were famous in Gotham City's circus, and he was the most prominent aerialist there.
Later, due to local gangsters demanding protection money from the circus manager and being refused, they poured strong acid on the ropes used for the aerialist performance, and the unwitting John and Mary died as a result.
Dick later happened to overhear the gangsters revealing the truth outside the manager's office and decided to call the police to seek justice for his parents. During this process, he met Batman and became his Robin.
Facing Dick's playful words, Alfred did not smile. Instead, he lowered his head with a somewhat dim expression and said to him, "Master Grayson, I have some unfortunate news to tell you."
Looking at Alfred's expression, a stunned look appeared on Dick's face, and a bad premonition suddenly rose in his heart.
However, his worst fear still came true. Alfred said to him, "Master Bruce may have met with misfortune!"
"What?"
Dick, hearing this news, was struck by lightning, his eyes wide as he looked at the butler.
"Impossible! How could this be! Bruce would never—"
The short stick in Dick's hand fell to the ground, and then he slumped onto the damp, hard ground.
Tears fell from his eyes like broken pearls.
"How could this be? He clearly told me he could control everything, he told me he would wait for me to go to college—"
Clutching his aching forehead, memories flashed through his mind.
Batman, to him, was both a father figure and a friend.
Because their greatest commonality was both facing the tragedy of their parents being murdered before their eyes, their personalities had a certain compatibility.
Dick, like Batman, was an orphan, but his personality was not as dark. He had the vitality and vigor of youth, and he treated fighting crime as an exciting game. He also liked to tell Batman cold jokes, diluting the usual silence and seriousness.
Now Alfred told him that his respected "father" had passed away, and Dick instantly felt his world collapse.
"Who… who killed him!"
Dick raised his bloodshot eyes and asked Alfred.
At this moment, the butler, though more grief-stricken than anyone, did not show it. He knew he could not easily collapse now; there were still many things waiting for him to do.
"Homelander!"
Alfred spoke Eric's name.
"But, you cannot rush to seek revenge now! Master Grayson, if you go like this, it would be no different than seeking death!"
Alfred dissuaded Dick, who was preparing to seek revenge.
"So, I do nothing now?"
A wave of sorrow suddenly surged in Dick's heart.
"No! Before Master left, he gave me something and told me that if anything happened to him, I must give it to you!"
Alfred said, taking out a thick notebook with a rough cover and handing it to him. "This is what Master wanted me to give you, Master Grayson. Rather than impulsive revenge, I hope you will read what Master left for you."
