Chapter 17 - War Against the Demon of War

Title: War Against the Demon of War

---

Sector 12 — The Battlefield Falls Silent

Smoke drifted across the ruined city.

Burning vehicles lit the streets with orange flames.

Broken buildings leaned dangerously over cracked roads.

For a brief moment...

No one moved.

On one side stood the three Horsemen.

On the other...

Azrael.

Behind him stood Zenn, Mara, Stag, Vemmiz, Amir, and thousands of demons.

Even the ordinary demons instinctively stepped backward.

They knew what was about to happen.

---

The First Conversation

Azrael looked at the three Horsemen one by one.

His voice was calm.

> Azrael: "Interesting."

He looked at Whyte.

> "The Sword King."

His gaze shifted.

> "The Master of Gravity."

Finally...

> "And the Commander of Machines."

A faint smile appeared.

> "Three extraordinary warriors."

Whyte rested Soulcutter on his shoulder.

> Whyte: "You're stronger than the reports."

Azrael nodded.

> Azrael: "You speak honestly."

Don Frec laughed.

> Don Frec: "Good."

He clenched his gravity gauntlets.

> "Because we're about to hit you very dishonestly."

Even Azrael chuckled.

Rath London's drones hovered around him.

> Rath: "We already know we're not dealing with an ordinary S-Class."

Azrael answered simply.

> Azrael: "Correct."

Silence followed.

Then Whyte spoke again.

> Whyte: "One question."

> "Why start this war?"

Azrael looked toward the burning city.

> Azrael: "Because peace built on fear is not peace."

He pointed toward Iron Veil soldiers evacuating civilians.

> Azrael: "For centuries humans hunted demons."

> "Now demons refuse to be hunted."

Helena Voss, listening through battlefield communications, quietly replied,

> Voss: "And innocent people pay the price."

Azrael looked directly toward her command aircraft.

> Azrael: "War always demands payment."

---

The Battle Begins

Without another word...

Whyte disappeared.

A sonic boom echoed across the battlefield.

Soulcutter carved a glowing blue line through the air.

Azrael leaned backward by mere centimeters.

The plasma blade narrowly missed his face.

Whyte immediately followed with another slash.

Then another.

Then another.

To ordinary eyes...

He had become a streak of blue light.

Azrael blocked each strike using only his bare hands.

Every collision exploded into showers of sparks.

---

Gravity Unleashed

Don Frec raised both gauntlets.

Gravity distorted.

Buildings shook violently.

Entire sections of broken highway lifted into the air.

With a powerful swing...

He launched hundreds of tons of concrete toward Azrael.

The Demon of War punched once.

Everything shattered into dust.

Don Frec frowned.

> Don Frec: "He punched a city block..."

---

The Machine Army

Rath finally entered the fight.

Thousands of drones surrounded Azrael.

Heavy mechas advanced from every direction.

Command bots fired synchronized railguns.

Blue Rose missiles streaked across the sky.

The battlefield transformed into a carefully coordinated assault.

Every attack supported another.

Every drone adjusted instantly.

It was military perfection.

---

Azrael's True Strength

For the first time...

Azrael moved seriously.

He stomped once.

The ground exploded outward.

A circular shockwave raced across the battlefield.

Hundreds of drones lost stability.

Several mechas were thrown backward.

Even Whyte had to plant Soulcutter into the ground to stop himself sliding.

Don Frec crossed both gauntlets.

Gravity barriers formed around him.

Still...

He was pushed back dozens of meters.

Far away...

Aiden watched from an evacuation shelter.

His mouth slowly opened.

> Aiden: "That's..."

Fushiguro finished the sentence.

> Fushiguro: "...impossible."

Adolf simply stared.

No one could believe one being possessed that much raw strength.

---

Humanity Adapts

Helena Voss watched every movement.

She noticed something.

Azrael wasn't chasing anyone.

He wasn't trying to kill randomly.

He responded only after being attacked.

She opened communications.

> Voss: "Whyte."

> Whyte: "Listening."

> Voss: "Keep him occupied."

> Whyte: "Understood."

> Voss: "Don Frec."

> Don Frec: "Go ahead."

> Voss: "Increase localized gravity around his feet."

> Don Frec: "I'll try."

> Voss: "Rath."

> Rath: "Already analyzing."

> Voss: "Watch his movement patterns."

Rath's visor rapidly processed battle data.

Thousands...

Then millions...

Of calculations.

Finally—

A pattern emerged.

> Rath: "Director."

> "I've found something."

---

Meanwhile...

Several kilometers away...

No one noticed Amir quietly slipping away from the battlefield.

His legion of monkey demons followed silently across abandoned rooftops.

He smiled.

> Amir: "Exactly as planned."

The Horsemen.

The Director.

The Legendary Slayers.

Everyone was focused on Azrael.

No one noticed the strategist disappearing into the shadows.

---

Final Scene

Azrael stood alone in the center of the battlefield.

Surrounded by humanity's greatest warriors.

Smoke drifted around him.

He looked toward Whyte.

> Azrael: "Excellent."

Toward Don Frec.

> "Your control of gravity is impressive."

Toward Rath.

> "And your machines learn quickly."

He slowly raised one hand.

A faint crimson aura spread around him.

The air itself became heavier.

Everyone instinctively tensed.

Azrael spoke only four words.

> Azrael: "Now... my turn."

The crimson aura erupted across the battlefield.
