Chapter 7 - Entity Information

In this realm, the Void, Entities are beings that exist as luminous, vividly colored geometric forms made up of pure concentrations of energy adrift in an boundless, lightless void.

There is no conventional space surrounding them, nor any true spatial dimension in the ordinary sense. Instead, there exists an infinite darkness that extends endlessly in every direction, an absolute emptiness unbroken by distance, horizon, or even boundary itself.

Time itself operates in a profoundly alien manner here. Only the eternal "present" truly exists, as the past and future have no independent reality. Every moment or event is confined exclusively to the "now."

Experiences that the Entities undergo do not recede into a stored history once concluded, nor do anticipated occurrences linger ahead as a predetermined future waiting to unfold.

Basically, the flow of time is not a river carrying events from one point to another, but is instead a singular, unchanging instant stretched across all awareness.

To make things simpler, even if an Entity possessed extraordinary command over time, backward or forward travel would be impossible as there is simply no "before" or "after" to travel to.

Furthermore, time cannot be halted entirely, for there is no external timeline to pause in the first place. At best, its subjective pace could be decelerated, slowed down, to a near standstill, stretching the present moment further without ever escaping it.

Most Entities manifest as perfect spheres that are each distinguished by one or at most two dominant hues of colors.

However, there are a few exceptions that stand out, namely Cubix and Prism, who both display a far richer palette of colors than their spherical counterparts, as well as a different shape compared to them.

Prism began existence not as an entity, but as an object, a creation of Cubix, before awakening to true sentience. Cubix, in contrast, was deliberately crafted with a complex, multifaceted coloration from the outset. Prism's spectrum mirrors Cubix's exactly, as it is a reflection born of their intertwined origins.

Objects are deliberate creations forged by Entities from their own essence. In most cases, these objects closely echo their maker's form as well as coloration. Occasionally, however, an object deviates in shape while preserving the creator's exact hues.

Every object embodies a unique ability that its creator can summon, wield, and use. The nature of this power is shaped by two key factors, which is the object's physical form and most critically, the specific intent or purpose the creator held in mind during its formation.

When an Entity visualizes a clear function or goal while shaping the object, the resulting ability aligns closely with that vision. Should the creator form an object without any defined purpose, by simply experimenting or acting on impulse, then the granted ability may manifest randomly, unpredictable even to its maker.

The majority of Entities chose simplicity and in turn, ended up fashioning an exact duplicate of themselves. Consequently, these beings share a single, uniform ability born of uniformity and a lack of creative ambition.

That shared power allows them to accumulate and retain vast reserves of energy, which they primarily employ as illumination, modest beacons glowing softly against the surrounding dark.

Frankly speaking, these objects are nothing more than just wireless light bulbs that never turn off.

In contrast, there are a few Entities who dared to invent truly novel objects.

These ones were able to unlocked distinctive, often far more potent abilities from their objects.

Below is a ranked numbering of the most significant such objects and the powers they bestow.

Bare in mind that the ranking only reflects their current demonstrated strength and versatility, given the limitations, as well as ineffective usage, of their wielders.

In short, the ranking only evaluates the object and what it has to offer, while completely disregarding its user, and how effectively they use it.

1. [Negate]

Forged by Aloe, this object grants perhaps the ultimate defensive capability.

It gives the power to nullify virtually any other form of energy. Aloe can draw in energies of every kind, first purifying them into neutral, "pure" energy if necessary, then storing the result. This ability exacts the heaviest toll in both total energy cost and rate of energy consumption.

Aloe perceives ambient energy signatures around any target with precision. By analyzing this data, Aloe can unleash precisely matched volumes of stored energy, but inverted in fundamental properties, to cancel the target's output completely.

The mechanism resembles simple arithmetic opposition, just as –5 + 5 = 0, opposing energies of equal magnitude annihilate and cancel one another out.

Of course, this isn't to say that Aloe can only release an inverted form of the surrounding ambient energy. In terms of defensive usage, this would be the most effective way to utilize this ability.

At its theoretical peak, [Negate] would transcend mere cancellation. Aloe could reshape energy freely into any desired configuration, even transmuting Aloe's own form into pure, intangible energy and rendering Aloe virtually untouchable by any conventional threat.

Moreover, every energy interaction, whether nullified, blocked, observed, or merely witnessed, would imprint its blueprint upon Aloe. Thus, Aloe would instantly comprehend the precise quantity and structuring of energy required, enabling perfect replication or adaptation of any encountered ability.

Yet Aloe's gentle, conflict-averse nature severely constrains this potential. With no appetite for combat or domination, Aloe remains content in stasis, leaving [Negate] far from its full potential.

2. [Barrier]

Crafted by Gold, this object provides supreme defensive utility. In fact, it offers the highest defensive ability out of all the objects on this list.

Gold can erect protective shields around any designated target, himself or another Entity, tailored in form and scope as needed. Crucially, the barrier feeds upon incoming energy, which means that every attack it intercepts is absorbed, converted, and then channeled to reinforce its own structure. The greater the assault, the more impregnable the shield grows.

Breaching such a barrier demands either instantaneous, overwhelming destruction before reinforcement can occur, or a barrage of purely kinetic, low-energy physical strikes delivered so rapidly that the shield receives insufficient energy to adapt and heal.

Gold's current mastery remains limited as he can protect only one target simultaneously, and efficiency suffers. Furthermore, he can still feel the shockwaves produced by an attack even with his shield.

Nevertheless, the ability's activation is elegantly simple, as all Gold needs to do is simply infuse it with energy, and the shield sustains and strengthens itself autonomously thereafter.

In terms or energy consumption and rate of energy consumption, it's very normal. Even though the shields created can use the surrounding energy or incoming energy attacks to sustain itself, it still takes a lot of Gold's energy just to manifest it in the first place.

At maximum potential, Gold could deploy multiple, specialized barriers concurrently, with some enveloping targets broadly, and others layered intimately upon an Entity's surface like a second skin.

He might create deflective or fully reflective variants rather than purely absorptive ones, turning enemy force entirely against itself.

3. [Inferno]

Born from Ember, this object delivers devastating offensive power with secondary defensive applications. In fact, this gives the highest offensive power out of all the objects on this list.

It enables her to generate and manipulate searing flames in diverse forms. A few of these include blazing orbs, roaring walls, as well as sweeping torrents.

Furthermore, these flames cane be utilized for both attacking as well as defending while expending remarkably little energy.

Just a small amount of Ember's energy is needed to create the first spark of flame. After which, the flame would absorb ambient energy to feed itself, and then it can be shaped into whatever constructs Ember needs for either offense or defence.

Aqueous's opposing ability serves as its primary counter, yet the two remain evenly matched in practice.

Unleashed at full strength, [Inferno] would ignite energy itself. Amber could transform ambient or incoming energy into volatile sparks, without needed to create a spark first, that detonate instantly. Not only that, but the flames would be effective against both material forms, as well as pure energy constructs.

Her flames would radiate cataclysmic heat capable of steadily eroding approaching attacks before impact, while emitting blinding radiance that momentarily transforms the surrounding Void into a dazzling white expanse.

This glare stuns onlookers, except Ember herself, slows the propagation of all energy within its radius, and hampers incoming assaults.

Simultaneously, Ember gains accelerated movement and amplified output, turning every clash into a lopsided exchange where enemies get debuffed and diminished, while she only continues grows swifter and deadlier.

4. [Aqua]

Created by Aqueous, this object emphasizes defense and evasion over destruction.

It allows Aqueous to shift his form freely between solid and fully liquid states, rendering most physical assaults ineffective as blows pass harmlessly through fluid essence.

Well, maybe not harmless. But it does greatly reduce the amount of damage he takes whenever an attack lands on him.

Though primarily used for protection, [Aqua] offers limited offensive potential. This includes making water constructs, but he rarely ever does that since they have next to no damage whatsoever.

As such, Aqueous mainly uses his ability for defensive purposes, only only counter attacks when necessary.

It was designed, though not intentionally, to achieved perfect equilibrium with [Inferno], which is Ember's object.

How exactly does this work?

Simply put, Ember cannot fully penetrate Aqueous's defenses, while Aqueous lacks sufficient fire power to overwhelm Ember decisively.

Such is the deadlock between the two of them.

As for the energy consumption, as well as the rate of consumptions, it's basically the same as Ember's.

All Aqueous needs to do is use a bit of his energy to create a small liquid bubble, and then it would absorb the surrounding energy to increase in size. After which, he could use it however he wants.

At its zenith, [Aqua] would extend manipulation outward, liquefying surrounding energy and assimilating it into Aqueous's being. This would enable exponential growth in size and the generation of countless miniature duplicates of himself, each a fully functional extension of himself.

Regeneration would become absolute, so long as even a minuscule fragment remains intact. Regardless of whether the fragment belongs to the original body or any duplicate, Aqueous could reconstitute entirely.

Physical and many energy-based attacks would be nullified outright, as only Aqueous controls the energy composing his form and clones. Also, debuffs could be preemptively dissolved before taking hold.

5. [Burst]

Forged by Cream, this object strikes an ideal balance between both offense and defense.

It allows Cream to absorb moderate quantities of energy, store it safely within herself, and then unleash it in a devastating omnidirectional explosion.

Because the release originates from her core, Cream remains unscathed while everything around her is obliterated or scattered.

This object ranks as the lowest here because the defenses it provides fall short of the top-tier [Barrier] and the offense cannot match [Inferno]'s annihilation.

Essentially, it is a jack of all, and master of none.

Yet in prolonged engagements, its efficiency shines as [Burst] consumes the least amount of energy, among all the objects, per use, granting superior endurance to its user.

How, you wonder?

Simply put, this is because Cream doesn't need to first make a spark, or bubble or even use her own energy, in order to activate this ability. She can simply use the ambient energy around her, without even needing to store it within herself.

The difference between Aloe and Cream, is that Aloe needs to absorb the energy first. Only then, can Aloe convert said energy, and then use it to nullify other form of surrounding energy.

Realized fully, [Burst] would grant dominion over all energy within a defined zone. Within said zone, Cream could wield ambient energy freely, unrestricted by origin or type, and she could even merge with it completely under optimal conditions.

The explosive release could double as a obscuring smokescreen, as the dispersed energy cloud would scramble detection, as well as concealing Cream's position.

Within that disrupted field, enemy energy manipulation would falter, with their attacks weakening, and defenses compromised, tilting every prolonged confrontation decisively in her favor.

Essentially, it was much like how Ember's fully realized ability give her the ability to debuff her enemies whilst simultaneously buffing herself in the process.

Ultimately, none of these extraordinary abilities have yet approached their theoretical limits.

The rankings above reflect only their, the objects, present, constrained expressions, that are shaped by each wielder's skill, mindset, and inclination.

Were any of the Entities who use these abilities to fully embrace and master their object's potential, the hierarchy would shift dramatically, perhaps beyond recognition, or perhaps not.
