What kind of experience is it to wander through Hogwarts at night with Fred and George Weasley?
Before tonight, Aiden did not know.
Now, he knew very well.
The moment Argus Filch appeared, the Weasley twins transformed completely. Without hesitation, they dragged Aiden into a hollow suit of armor along the corridor wall.
At first, Aiden had wanted to tell them something important.
Dumbledore had given him a Night Roaming Permit. He technically had permission to be out.
But very quickly, he realized something.
The twins were not afraid of Filch.
They enjoyed this.
Hiding inside the armor, Aiden peered through a narrow slit in the helmet.
Down the corridor, a lone figure shuffled forward, holding a flickering candle. The shadows twisted across the walls with each step.
Filch's pace was unsteady, but his determination was not.
Since Mrs. Norris had been petrified by Dark magic, his patrols had become relentless.
If he ever found the culprit, he had sworn to hang the student on the wall and personally whip them.
But first, he had to deal with a certain pair of red-haired troublemakers.
"I know you are here. I heard something. You cannot escape me."
His voice echoed harshly under the dim light.
George and Fred were hiding inside the two suits of armor directly in front of Aiden.
Through the narrow gaps, Aiden could see their bright, mischievous eyes.
For some reason, he felt Filch was about to have a very unfortunate evening.
"Come out, you two rascals. You break the rules every single day. I will catch you and have you expelled."
Filch's voice cracked with fury.
He stepped closer to the armor.
For a moment, it looked as though he intended to push the suits over.
If he knocked them down, anyone hiding inside would be exposed instantly.
But just as he reached out, he hesitated.
If the armor scattered across the floor, he would be the one forced to clean it up.
And Filch hated cleaning heavy metal suits even more than he hated students.
His hand slowly lowered.
Unfortunately for him, the twins had no such hesitation.
With a loud crash, the armor toppled.
George and Fred leapt out dramatically, landing right in front of Filch.
The sudden noise made Filch jump in terror before rage overtook his expression.
"Weasley."
He spat the name like a curse.
Aiden remained hidden, watching carefully.
The twins exchanged a grin.
Then, in perfect unison, they pulled out small round yellow objects and hurled them at Filch.
The moment the objects struck him—
A horrifying stench exploded through the corridor.
Even inside the armor, Aiden nearly gagged.
The smell was indescribable.
It was as if something had crawled out of the depths of the Forbidden Forest and died twice.
"So this is the improved Dungbomb."
"It might be a bit too effective."
"Yes, perhaps slightly overpowered."
Filch staggered backward, face contorted in disgust and fury.
"Weasley!!"
His roar shook the corridor.
Aiden pressed a sleeve over his nose, desperately hoping Filch would not notice him.
For a fleeting moment, he even wondered whether Dumbledore's note would protect him in this situation.
"This improved Dungbomb needs further refinement."
"It is far too pungent."
"Retreat for now."
"Filch cannot catch us anyway."
Before leaving, the twins subtly glanced toward Aiden's hiding place.
A faint whisper drifted to his ears.
"Until next time, Hufflepuff friend."
Filch, blinded by rage and stench, clearly heard none of it.
Aiden narrowed his eyes.
Magic.
That had to be magic.
"Come along, Filch."
"Let us see how fast you can run."
"Do not overexert yourself."
"It would be unfortunate if you slipped."
Their teasing voices echoed down the hall as they sprinted away.
Filch rushed after them, his words reduced to furious, helpless shouting.
"You two stop right there."
But everyone knew the truth.
A Squib could not hope to catch two mischievous wizards determined to escape.
When the corridor finally fell silent, Aiden stepped out from behind the armor, still covering his nose.
"Until next time."
He repeated the words softly.
If he wished to ensure his safety during the coming chaos at Hogwarts, perhaps befriending the Weasley twins would not be such a bad idea.
After all, in a castle filled with secrets—
Few people knew its hidden paths better than they did.
And strangely enough—
Aiden found himself looking forward to their next encounter.
