A sudden surge of panic rushed through me as my mind caught up to what had just happened.
What on earth had gotten into me?
Shocked by my own temporary lapse in judgment, I immediately pressed my hands against his chest and pushed him away with all the strength I could muster.
The distance between us couldn't come fast enough. I quickly smoothed down the wrinkled fabric of my dress, trying to regain every ounce of my composure.
"You are pathetic," I said. My voice was calm, almost a whisper, but it carried a sharp, lethal edge.
To drive the point home, I slowly dragged the back of my hand across my lips, making sure every movement projected pure, unadulterated disgust.
I glared at him, my chest heaving. If it hadn't been for this damn, cursed bond pulling at my chest, there was no way I would ever willingly stand in the same room as a lunatic like him.
