Chapter 30 - Chapter 30: Good News — Success! Bad News — No Money!

Steve went to the counter to order and accidentally bumped into someone.

"I'm sorry, I'm sorry," the man said hurriedly. His glasses were knocked off, and he quickly bent down to pick them up, apologizing repeatedly.

When Steve got a good look at him, he froze. That face looked very familiar—almost identical to Tobey Maguire.

Wait… isn't this the original Spider-Man?

"It's okay, buddy. You alright?" Steve helped the man up. The guy looked thin and not very strong.

Out of curiosity, Steve asked, "Hey man, what's your name?"

"Peter Parker." The man with glasses smiled shyly, clearly not good at socializing.

Hiss! It really is the original Spider-Man! I knew it—this couldn't be just a coincidence.

"My name's Steve Rogers. Looks like fate brought us together. Let's grab tea sometime." Steve smiled. So Spider-Man had appeared—but it seemed he hadn't become Spider-Man yet.

Steve didn't know how strong Spider-Man would be in the future, but right now? Captain America could easily take him down.

After ordering, Steve returned to Hill, handed her the sandwich, and watched her finish eating.

Then, unable to contain himself, he pulled her back to the dorm. Hill had been so good to him lately—it was only fair he… "reassured" her and made sure she was well-fed in other ways.

The next day.

Steve got up early—he had a meeting with Pierce's old associate, Biden, today.

If I can trick Pierce into coming over, we might finally get some funds. With that money, we could buy a villa.

I'm Captain America—I can't keep living in my girlfriend's dorm forever!

After giving Hill a sweet kiss and picking up the clothes scattered across the floor, Steve got dressed and left.

Once he was gone, Hill opened her eyes and glanced at the box of Durex on the table. They had planned to use it last night, but Steve said the size didn't fit—so they didn't.

She hadn't insisted, but still… this really isn't the right time for a child.

Hill had to consider things Steve didn't. After all, she was the one who'd get pregnant, not him.

And marriage? That didn't seem right either.

Not being married felt strange, though.

As a Level 9 agent and deputy director, Hill knew perfectly well about Pepper and Sharon. Was the captain really seeing two women at once? That made three now!

Hill said nothing. Sharon said nothing either.

As Peggy's niece, Sharon was highly trained in espionage—of course she knew. Yet she remained calm, polite, and even greeted Hill normally at work, as if nothing had happened.

Never mind… it's a headache anyway. In some parts of the U.S., polygamy was technically legal. Maybe it wasn't worth overthinking.

On the way, Steve stopped by the cafeteria to grab breakfast and packed an extra portion for Hill. When he returned, she was in the bathroom.

Hey, what a coincidence—served hot and ready!

Office of the Secretary-General.

Pierce checked his watch. He'd postponed multiple meetings just to meet Steve today.

Someone had spotted Captain America in the cafeteria at 8 a.m.—but now it was 10:30, and still no sign of him.

An hour for breakfast, one for exercise, half for "affection." That should've been enough!

Just as Pierce was starting to fume, Steve finally arrived, humming a little tune. He told the secretary not to disturb them unless it was important.

Then he strolled to Pierce's seat, sat down, and said casually, "Do you know why I came in late?"

Pierce raised an eyebrow. "I don't know. Please, enlighten me."

"Because I'm the leader—and you're not. Understand?"

Steve had to secure his authority, even over someone like Pierce. Only by gaining control could he begin to quietly erode Hydra's assets and influence.

After all, what better way to make money than by taking over an existing empire—at zero cost?

Pierce sighed. "Captain, I can speak for the S.H.I.E.L.D. division, but we don't control the other factions."

He was angry but still cautious. When it came to the Captain, forgiveness was the safer option.

Steve nodded. "I know. Baron Strucker and his men will be dealt with sooner or later. A divided Hydra is useless.

"That Wakeman you mentioned yesterday—get rid of him. Eliminate anyone who stands against you. If you have someone better, promote them. Do it cleanly. I don't need to teach you how.

"And if you can't handle it… let Bucky do it."

Steve leaned back, propped his feet up on the desk—a perfect picture of relaxed dominance.

There was no cynicism in his tone, just absolute command. Only Steve Rogers could pull this off. The title Captain America still carried enormous weight.

For seventy years, the U.S. had used his image to inspire faith and loyalty—to make money off a fallen hero.

But now that the "dead man" had returned, that symbol had turned into a very real power.

Pierce fell silent. His heartbeat quickened—especially when Steve mentioned Bucky, the Winter Soldier under his control.

At that moment, Pierce understood exactly why people still followed Steve Rogers after seven decades.

"I'll handle it," Pierce said finally. "What about the Daily Bugle issue?"

"No need to deal with them. Do you think we're some kind of gang? Stop always thinking about fighting and killing—use your head."

Pierce nearly choked. I want to fight and kill? You're the one giving the orders!

"Alright," Steve continued. "Prepare a bigger villa for me, and I'll need a new combat suit. Here's the design.

"When I'm doing official work, I'll wear the Captain America suit. When I'm doing… other things, I'll wear the Captain Hydra suit."

He grinned. So cool.

Pierce sighed. "Captain, we only control S.H.I.E.L.D. The rest of the assets belong to others. Gorgon runs the U.S. branch—he controls senators, assets, and businesses. We can only survive by taking contracts from the black web."

Just then, the system notifications chimed in Steve's head.

Ding! Mission "Captain Hydra" completed.

Ding! Reward: Evil Aura granted.

Ding! Hydra Asset List unlocked.

Three consecutive notifications echoed in his mind.

Steve immediately felt the effect of the aura. After this morning's "exercise" with Hill, it had taken him three hours to recover.

Now, under the aura's influence, his saintly restraint was finally fading.

Hiss… this aura's definitely good for kidney health!
