Seraphina's Point Of View
"Only one person calls me by that," I whispered into the dead quiet of the hallway, my voice sounding incredibly small, almost swallowed by the silence pressing against the heavy carpeted floor.
I stared down at the messy handwriting on the brown paper, my chest doing a strange, erratic flutter that had nothing to do with exhaustion. The familiar scrawl brought with it a rush of conflicting emotions… irritation tangled with something warmer I refused to name. My throat tightened unexpectedly.
How did he always manage to slip past my defenses, even when he wasn't physically present? I let out a long, shaky sigh, my fingers tightening against the cardboard edges of the box.
"Azriel... what on earth is the deal with him?" I muttered under my breath. "Seriously, what is he playing at?"
