Little Roe slept soundly beneath the blankets, one arm flung above his head and his soft breaths rising and falling in an even rhythm. The excitement of the day had clearly exhausted him. Valerie carefully adjusted the edge of the blanket around his shoulder before stepping back.
Azreal stood beside her in silence. For a moment neither of them spoke. They simply watched the sleeping boy together, sharing a rare moment of peace that felt strangely domestic.
Valerie's lips curved into a small smile. Every time she looked at Roe sleeping, it felt as though the rest of the world quieted down.
Eventually she turned toward the door and lowered her voice.
"I should let you get some rest."
She was already preparing to say goodnight when Azreal stopped her.
"Will you give me a tour?"
Valerie blinked in confusion.
"A tour?"
This was his villa. The question sounded so strange that it took her several seconds to understand what he meant. Then realization dawned on her face.
