"Arghhh."
I groaned, jolting upright the second I woke up, my eyes bleary and burning with leftover sleep. I rubbed the back of my neck, then my shoulders, then my thighs—every single muscle in my body ached, like I'd been run over by a truck twice over. My eyelids felt so heavy I almost wanted to flop right back down and sleep for another week.
But then the scent hit me—warm, woody, entirely Dallius. And suddenly every memory from last night came rushing back, sharp and vivid.
From the way I'd dressed up just for him, to the last thing I remembered: him gently wiping me clean, tucking me in, and slipping out of the room.
My eyes blew wide open. I twisted fast to look at the space beside me, but it was empty. I reached out, fingers brushing the sheets—still warm. He'd only gotten up a little while ago.
Oh my god. Last night.
