Chapter 18 - Change

Looking at his trusty blade, Solaris had a thought.

Did he get that mad... because I cut him, he was so mad because I beat him, what a loser ahahah.

Solaris started laughing internally, his lips slowly curling up, suppressing a laugh, sensing it about to come out, he stood up, grabbed his sword, and left for his room.

Upon making his way to the door, Solaris immediately began laughing so hard he fell to the ground. His laughter was uncontrollable, his eyes began to water, and his sides began to split.

At some point, he found himself on the ground, his laughter not subsiding, staring up at the ceiling, his mind only thinking about how bad that ember was because he had cut him. This single thought made him laugh more and more.

Seconds turned to minutes, his voice became hoarse from laughing, and his throat was dry, his sides hurt from the constant movement of his stomach, and his eyes were dried out from crying tears of laughter.

Finally, after 40 minutes of nonstop laughing, he was able to stop.

slowly making his way to his feet, he felt something move inside his stomach, rushing to his feet, he made his way to the bathroom, ran to the toilet, and began to vomit into it, over and over.

His face still sprawled into a broken smile, a thought stirred into his mind slowly at first, and then it was all of a sudden the only thing he could think of.

What the fuck is happening?

This single thought rolled over and over in his mind, and yet no conclusion could be made. Having no clue, he resorted to throwing up once more and then going to see Sami in hopes of her helping.

Sitting up, his body felt very warm and sweaty, his mind was having trouble focusing, with the help of the toilet he made his way to his feet and then using the counter of his sink he pushed towards the door, taking a glance at the mirror he eyes met with his own eyes, they seemed normal if not more a bright green than before, pushing the door open solaris used the wall to support himself.

Leaving the room, Solaris felt his senses coming back and then the heat dying down, as he made it to the stairs, his vision returned, and his brain began to pick up the pace once again. Still, he continued down the stairs and to Sami's office.

As he rounded the corner of the stairs leading to the main lobby, Solaris felt like himself again, wiping the vomit off his mouth with a tissue and then dabbing the sweat with another. Solaris was left simply confused at the odd events that transpired.

As he reached the bench with ember, he looked as though he always had, as if nothing had happened at all.

"were you eyes always so green?"

ember asked with a tired gaze

"Yeah."

Solaris simply replied with indifference.

Solaris had always had distinctively green eyes, which was one of the only noticeable traits about him, and his mark.

Hours passed, and the two still sat waiting, hoping that Selen would be fine; of course, they had little to fear. Sami wasn't just a doctor but a bona fide healer. Solaris had only recently seen firsthand her power; it was simply spectacular. It was as if she could remove the damage while replacing it with a healed section, as well as physically hold the ailments and damage and pass them to another.

Having seen this ability, Solaris was beyond impressed. The ability to heal was one of the best in his opinion, and this ability didn't stop at living beings, such as plants and animals; it passed to inanimate objects as well.

This was a perfect ability in Solaris's eyes; it was especially perfect for Sami, as somehow her body was constantly refreshing to a perfect form. This meant she could never fully be injured or sick.

This was what made her the perfect doctor.

The only true drawback was when she had to heal head wounds, which would refresh their brain and require them to sleep for an extended period of time until their brain caught up, taking up to six months, thus the reason solaris was out for as long as he was.

 ***

After a while longer sami finally emerged from the room, rolling her sleeve down, covering her arm once more. Looking over, she spotted the two men, Solaris and Ember, both were passed out asleep on the bench, waiting for her patient.

While sighing, she brought her hands together into a clap

CLAP!

The sound reverberated though solaris ears, waking him immediately, while it took Ember another moment to fully wake.

A faint smile encroached on Sami's face.

"She's doing just fine, feel free to go see her!"

standing up, Solaris smiled and walked past Sami to go see Selen, having only seen her for a moment after the fight had ended, he didn't truly see the extent of her burns, but from what he had seen, they were quite bad, a lot of her skin was not its usual pristine alabaster, and instead it was bright red with a lot of boils, still he had only seen it through teary eyes so it could have been even worse.

Pushing open the door, he was met with a beautiful girl standing in the middle of it, finishing putting on her shirt.

The girl turned to look at him, her face subtly shifting into a frown, before she turned around to see his face.

"Hello, Solaris, are you doing fine?"

She asked in her typical monotone voice.

"Uhh.. yeah, are you?"

Solaris replied hesitantly.

"yes im feeling the same as I usually do."

cough

The atmosphere was very awkward, to say the least.

"well im glad you're.."

"You weren't thinking of me grossly again, were you?"

Solaris was stunned to say the least. He shouted, throwing his arms in front of him.

"NO! WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT!!!???"

Selens' face remained unchanged before she lightly exhaled and replied.

"Good."

Just then, Ember finally approached the door.

Entering the room, Ember had a look of disappointment and sadness in his eyes. As soon as he passed the threshold, his head shot down into a bow.

"I'm so so soo soo sorry, Selen. I would never have wished to cause you harm. I truly do not know what came over me, but I accept all of the responsibility and am indebted to you for saving Solaris and putting a stop to my rampage, please you don't have to accept it, but please know that I am very sorry."

Ember had tears in his eyes and a lump in his throat as he said those words; his regret of hurting us, or at least her, was evident.

solaris stared at the man in shock for a few moments, only broken by Selens ' words.

"As you can probably imagine, I'm not happy with the events that transpired. I know you didn't mean to harm me, yet it happened. This is a fact; the intent behind your words is quite clear, and I do understand that you are sorry, yet I cannot, at this moment, accept these words. Please raise your head."

The words were spoken as if she had rehearsed them time and time again, yet there was not a hint of emotion behind them, her gaze was as cold as ice, and her body stood still, not revealing any hint of anger or sorrow.

What is it with this girl? How is someone so hot and yet so cold at the same time?
