Evie's eyes flew open in pure shock. She never expected him to show up at Red Phoenix Productions at all.
Shouldn't he be busy at work? Why on earth was he here?
As those questions raced through her mind, Westley looked straight at her from the back row and gave her a subtle, knowing wink. A sudden wave of goosebumps rushed across her skin, and a faint, imperceptible heat rushed to her cheeks before anyone else in the room could catch it.
Maybe he actually did see my performance...
The thought made her heart soar with excitement.
The moment she stepped off the elevated stage, Ellie-Kay walked up to meet her, extending her hand for a firm handshake.
"You did a spectacular job, Evie," Ellie-Kay praised warmly. "I know my boss is going to be ecstatic to see such raw talent bringing the main character of this novel to life."
Evie took her hand, her voice soft and entirely composed. "Thank you, Miss Kay. I really appreciate the compliment."
