Chapter 54 - Chapter 54 – The Death and Secret of Corvus Glaive

Blood burst into the air.

The broken blade pierced straight through Corvus Glaive's heart, punching through his chest in a violent spray of crimson. The dark cloak he wore was instantly soaked as blood spread across the fabric like a blooming flower.

Corvus Glaive spat out a mouthful of blood, his body staggering backward before collapsing heavily onto the ground. His breathing grew shallow and ragged as life rapidly drained from him.

In the end, the explanation was simple.

Strength decided everything.

No matter how many strategies or tricks someone possessed, they meant little when facing an opponent who was overwhelmingly faster and more powerful.

Yun Chen's reaction speed had completely exceeded Corvus Glaive's expectations. The Obsidian General barely lasted a moment before being struck down.

"Pathetically weak," Yun Chen said calmly as he shook his head.

That was precisely why he had ignored this man the last time they crossed paths. Someone at this level simply wasn't worth his attention.

Still, the fact that Corvus Glaive had been chosen as one of Thanos's five elite generals meant he did possess certain unusual traits.

Yun Chen turned his head slightly.

Something felt… strange.

The aura that had just faded from Corvus Glaive's body suddenly began rising again.

Even more shocking was the wound in his chest. The fatal hole through his heart slowly began closing as if time itself were reversing.

Corvus Glaive coughed violently and spat out another mouthful of blood.

"I… am immortal…"

Before he could even finish the sentence, another violent sound echoed.

Pfft!

His head exploded instantly.

Yun Chen had already stepped forward and smashed it apart with a single punch. The brutal strike destroyed Corvus Glaive's skull in an instant.

The Obsidian General died before he could even scream.

But the strange phenomenon continued.

Fragments of flesh and blood scattered across the ground suddenly began moving. Bits of brain matter and bone slowly gathered together as if drawn by an invisible force.

It was like watching time flow backward.

The shattered body was reconstructing itself.

Yun Chen raised an eyebrow slightly.

"That's interesting."

At that moment, King Eitri spoke up.

"It's the black scythe," the dwarf king said firmly.

Eitri had spent his entire life forging legendary weapons, so he understood the nature of artifacts better than almost anyone else.

"That member of the Black Order is indeed unusual," Eitri explained. "Rather than saying his body is his true form, it would be more accurate to say that his real essence is the black scythe."

He pointed toward the weapon lying on the ground.

"As long as the scythe remains intact, he cannot truly die."

Yun Chen's interest grew immediately.

"Oh?"

His gaze shifted toward the weapon he had broken earlier.

When he looked closely, he noticed something unusual. The weapon's structure was far more complex than it appeared at first glance. Intricate patterns and energy channels ran along the blade like hidden veins.

At that moment, Corvus Glaive's reforming body finally reacted.

"No!"

For the first time since the battle began, genuine panic appeared in his voice.

Whoosh!

Without any visible wind, the black scythe suddenly trembled and rose from the ground. The weapon attempted to fly into the air as if trying to escape.

Unfortunately, Yun Chen was faster.

"I think you're overestimating your chances," he said calmly.

Crack!

He stepped forward and brought his foot down on the weapon.

The force of the impact slammed the scythe into the floor. The ground beneath it collapsed instantly, forming a deep crater as Yun Chen pinned the weapon in place.

Under the overwhelming strength of his foot, the black scythe began cracking apart.

Crack. Crack.

The blade shattered piece by piece.

Hum!

The cloaked figure of Corvus Glaive suddenly froze.

Then his body dissolved like smoke.

Exactly as Eitri had explained, Corvus Glaive's life was tied to the weapon itself. Once the scythe was destroyed, his existence disappeared along with it.

One of Thanos's feared Obsidian Generals had been completely erased.

Corvus Glaive died on the spot.

Yun Chen chuckled softly.

"It seems Thanos's generals do have a few tricks."

Unfortunately for Corvus Glaive, the secret of his immortality had been exposed too quickly. He happened to face the one person capable of identifying the weakness immediately.

A master weaponsmith like Eitri could recognize the true nature of the artifact at a glance.

Without that advantage, the battle might have lasted longer.

ROAR!

Several remaining Vanguard Guards were still alive inside the furnace hall.

With their commander dead, the monstrous creatures seemed confused and agitated. Their instincts drove them forward as they searched for prey among the remaining dwarves.

These creatures were extremely vicious.

Compared with the Chitauri soldiers that once invaded New York, the Vanguard Guards were far more savage. Their brutal individual combat ability made them terrifying opponents on the battlefield.

It was no surprise that Thanos was capable of conquering so many worlds with such an army.

The beasts roared and rushed forward again.

Yun Chen sighed slightly before raising his hand.

Moments later, the furnace hall fell silent once more.

The remaining Vanguard Guards were wiped out without much effort.

Their corpses lay scattered across the ground, filling the chamber with the smell of blood and burnt metal.

Still, Yun Chen considered this trip worthwhile.

In fact, Thanos had unintentionally delivered him a rather valuable gift.

"The Infinity Gauntlet…"

Yun Chen's eyes showed a hint of curiosity.

Although he possessed the Oracle System and could control Infinity Stones through other methods, the legendary gauntlet designed specifically to wield them still intrigued him.

It was, after all, one of the most famous artifacts in the universe.

"Forge it," Yun Chen said simply.

Eitri blinked in surprise.

"What?"

He glanced down at the blueprint again.

"This glove requires an enormous amount of rare materials," Eitri explained slowly. "But its purpose isn't to directly attack enemies. It's designed as a control device to stabilize the six embedded Infinity Stones."

He looked at Yun Chen seriously.

"Thanos wants it to control the stones' power. Without Infinity Stones, the gauntlet itself is practically useless."

Yun Chen smiled.

"Do I look like someone who doesn't have Infinity Stones?"

He opened his hand.

A brilliant purple gem floated above his palm.

The Power Stone.

The moment it appeared, the surrounding air trembled with terrifying energy.

Eitri's expression changed drastically.

"Is that…?"

His voice trembled with disbelief.

"The legendary Infinity Stone… That terrifying power… Incredible. I never imagined something like this truly existed."

Even standing nearby, Eitri could feel the overwhelming cosmic energy contained within the gem.

He instinctively reached out toward it.

"Careful," Yun Chen warned.

The moment Eitri felt the stone's energy brushing against his skin, he quickly pulled his hand back in shock.

A frightening corrosive force radiated from the gem.

If he had touched it directly, the consequences would have been disastrous.

Eitri stared at the gem with a complicated expression.

"I've forged countless artifacts throughout my life," he said bitterly. "But compared to something like an Infinity Stone, it feels like all my achievements amount to nothing."

Yun Chen laughed softly.

"Don't underestimate yourself. Infinity Stones are creations of the universe itself. Your forging skills are still among the best in existence."

Eitri's eyes brightened slightly after hearing that.

However, his expression quickly changed again when Yun Chen continued speaking.

"So you'll start working immediately and finish forging the Infinity Gauntlet for me."

Yun Chen said it casually, but his tone carried the authority of a ruler giving orders.

It sounded exactly like a demanding employer assigning overtime work.

Eitri's old face immediately wrinkled with frustration.

Even if he wanted to refuse, he knew he had no real choice.

After bowing respectfully, he picked up the blueprint and returned to the massive forge.

"In one week," Eitri said reluctantly. "Someone can come to collect it."

Before the words had fully faded, another beam of rainbow light appeared.

The Bifrost descended once again into the furnace hall.

Surrounded by the brilliant colors of the cosmic bridge, Yun Chen's figure rose into the sky and disappeared into the vast universe.

Moments later, he had already begun the journey back to Neptune.
