Chapter 122 - Aquila's Terror

"What... exactly are you?"

An unprecedented oppressive presence enveloped the entirety of the 37th floor. Revis was completely paralyzed. As a hybrid of human and monster, something seemed to have shifted within her body.

The monster half of her was constantly screaming...

Run!

If she couldn't run, she would die!

When it came to senses, humans could never compare to monsters. After all, monsters were creatures of pure instinct, capable of feeling threats that humans couldn't even detect.

And the surrounding Corrupted Spirits seemed to be reminding Revis of this fact, as their faces had long lost all expression, leaving only absolute terror toward the entity that had descended from the sky!

Finn and the others were in a similar state. They seemed to sense something familiar radiating from that bizarre mechanical body...

It felt almost like the Arcanum of those deities, yet there was something distinctly different about it?

So, what exactly was it?

A human?

A deity?

Or a monster?

No one knew the answer, because the massive mechanical body had already spread its wings, unleashing a roar that thundered like a booming storm.

"Don't move!"

"If you dare take another step forward, I won't hesitate to kill him!"

The oppressive pressure grew increasingly intense. Revis couldn't help but break out in a cold sweat as she began desperately searching for a way to escape.

But how could that be easy?

Fleeing from such a terrifying creature was simply unrealistic!

If she wanted to guarantee her own safety, the best method was to take a hostage!

If possible, Revis deeply wished to take Ais with her, because the other party possessed Aria's bloodline. If absorbed, it would grant the Corrupted Spirits an unprecedented power boost.

Unfortunately, although Ais had temporarily lost her combat ability, she could easily recover it. Therefore, in a moment of desperation, Revis could only turn her gaze toward the only person present who was completely incapacitated...

Bete!

Just a moment ago, to give the Loki Familia an initial warning, Revis hadn't hesitated to use her full strength to instantly strike down Bete. She had beaten him directly into unconsciousness, leaving a massive gaping wound in his stomach.

Only by keeping someone half-dead like him by her side could Revis feel the slightest shred of safety...

Therefore, she unhesitatingly aimed the greatsword in her hand at Bete's head on the ground. The moment this monster transformed from the Deliverer made any sudden moves, she would instantly bring down the butcher's blade and turn Bete into Louis XVI.

Bete... what a tragedy!

After raising her blade, Revis even began contemplating her subsequent escape route. However, she never expected that this monster would completely refuse to play by the rules.

Looking at the rats scurrying on the ground, Aquila moved...

Hundreds of eyes locked onto Revis in almost the exact same instant, like a pride of creeping lions ready to slaughter the prey before them at any moment.

"Didn't I tell you not to move?"

Faced with the gazes of hundreds of eerie eyeballs, how could Revis possibly sit still? Right now, she felt as if she were being stared down by some ancient god, making her entire being feel unnerved.

And so, Revis made her move!

She knew there was a high probability she wouldn't be able to escape, and that she would very likely perish here. Yet, even so, she wanted to make the Deliverer before her clearly realize one fact...

You can't save everyone!

Even if I die, I'll take your comrade with me!

Since it was death either way, taking a few down with her was a profit!

The greatsword hacked toward Bete's head at a speed visible to the naked eye. This sight made everyone in the Loki Familia tense up.

"Bete!"

"You bastard, if you have the guts, don't lay a hand on Bete!"

Although this werewolf had a foul mouth normally, he was still a member of the Familia. He had even been the first to charge forward to protect everyone just now.

Thus, the members of the Loki Familia were willing to stand up for Bete, intending to seize the chance to draw Revis's attention.

'Heh! Do you think I'd fall for a trick like that?'

Revis sneered inwardly, swinging the greatsword in her hand even faster. She could almost see the image of Bete's head flying off...

However, she would never reach that outcome, just like Gold Experience Requiem, forever unable to touch the truth.

The image of the flying head in her mind didn't occur. Instead, it was replaced by a woman's arm spinning in the air, tightly gripping a greatsword.

Revis: !!!

Aquila launched an attack, but they didn't move their body. Instead, they used a laser to blast directly into Revis's shoulder.

That intense attack caused Revis's entire arm, along with a small half of her torso and even a portion of her face, to be completely pierced through. It vanished completely from the world, leaving only a lone arm floating in midair.

"Ahhhhh!"

A tragic scream tore out of Revis's mouth. Only then did the surrounding Corrupted Spirits react, beginning to scatter in all directions.

Clearly, they also knew they were no match. One group fled toward the depths of the Dungeon, while the other ran toward Orario on the upper levels...

If they were allowed to escape just like that, innocent adventurers would surely end up as collateral damage. Thus, Aquila's hundred eyes burst with brilliant light once again.

Boom boom——!

This time, it wasn't a minor array of blasts, but scorching rays capable of engulfing humans and monsters alike in their entirety!

"No, I..."

Revis watched this scene in absolute horror, because the target of these hundreds of rays was entirely her!

Such overwhelming power evaporated Revis in an instant, leaving not even ashes behind, let alone the Creature's Magic Stone...

And as for those fleeing Corrupted Spirits, wasn't it even simpler?

In two directions, front and back—Aquila just so happened to have two pairs of wings, enough to unleash an earth-shattering attack.

[Three Thousand Leagues Ablaze]

[Flame Beyond the Horizon]

With a mere flap of their wings, countless fireballs rained down from the sky. Like meteors descending from the stars, they pounded the brown soil of the 37th floor until it turned crimson.

The Corrupted Spirits that were struck began melting at a visible rate, much like ice cubes dropped into boiling hot soup.

On the other side, that pair of steel wings moved as if forged in the fires of hell, effortlessly shredding the bodies of the Corrupted Spirits, directly turning the scene into a game of Fruit Ninja.

The severed bodies of countless Corrupted Spirits fell powerlessly to the ground like chopped fruit, dissipating into black ash soon after.

Terror and despair!

The number of Corrupted Spirits was dwindling, while their despair surged. Despite throwing everything they had into attacking Aquila, they couldn't even get close to their opponent before being melted away by the overwhelmingly potent heat.

"Ahhhhh!"

The Corrupted Spirits let out cries of profound unwillingness. They had only just been born recently and did not want to depart from this world so easily.

But their fate was not for them to decide, but for god to decide...

For Aquila to decide!

[Exhalation of the Month of Everday]

In an instant, Aquila's massive body transformed into a blazing furnace, smashing their own frame viciously into the ground. The resulting aftershocks were even more terrifying than the meteors from earlier, to say nothing of the epicenter...

Only a scorching crater remained!
