Chapter 20 - THE PROPHECY

Derek's POV

Golden streaks of light continued illuminating the hidden passageway around us. The deeper we walked, the brighter everything became. Soon, the darkness that once filled the tunnel had completely vanished, replaced by a soft, radiant glow that made the walls shimmer like polished gold.

The place no longer felt like a cave. It felt sacred. Almost holy.

Then we saw them.

Memories.

Countless memories floated through the air like fragments of broken glass, each one glowing faintly as it drifted past us. I stopped walking. So did Tiana. Neither of us spoke. We simply watched as the images moved slowly around us.

A young girl.

A young boy.

They were running through a grand hall, laughing as they chased each other. The girl looked remarkably similar to Tiana — not identical, but close enough that my chest tightened. The memories weren't random. They felt connected. Each one flowed into the next, almost as if someone — or something — was deliberately showing us a story.

A forgotten story.

An ancient one.

"What is this?" I whispered. My voice sounded small inside the glowing chamber.

The memories kept shifting. More fragments. More moments. More pieces of a life that felt both familiar and distant. Then, without warning, the lights began to move. Thousands of golden particles gathered together, merging until they formed two separate orbs of light — two stars — that slowly drifted toward us.

One floated toward me.

The other moved toward Tiana.

We didn't move. We couldn't. Something powerful filled the air — something ancient and alive. It pressed against my skin and made the air feel heavier.

I slowly reached out.

The moment my fingers neared the glowing star, a violent surge rushed through my body. It felt like every cell inside me had suddenly awakened. Raw energy flooded my veins, burning and freezing me at the same time.

"What is this feeling?" I muttered, turning toward Tiana.

Then my eyes widened.

Her appearance had changed completely.

Her eyes glowed with a brilliant, unnatural light. Her hair floated gently around her shoulders, radiating an almost divine beauty. At the same time, her skin had turned paler — almost translucent. And then I saw them.

Fangs.

Sharp. Elegant. Terrifying.

My body tensed as a strange sensation spread through me. I looked down at my hands and watched as my own transformation began. My hair lengthened, the white strands shifting into a striking silver that almost seemed alive. My muscles grew more defined, stronger, more powerful. And then I felt it — the sharp points of fangs pushing through my gums.

A deep, thunderous voice suddenly shook the entire chamber.

"WE WELCOME OUR RULERS… WITH MUCH REVERENCE."

The world seemed to pause for a single breath.

Then chaos erupted.

Far above us, the sky darkened without warning. Thunder roared across the heavens while lightning split the clouds repeatedly, as though nature itself was either celebrating or mourning. From every corner of the world, countless cries echoed into the air — the sound of something long buried finally awakening.

The war had begun.

Not a war between kingdoms.

Not a war between nations.

This was something far older. Far more dangerous.

An ancient prophecy was finally being fulfilled.

Forgotten powers stirred from their slumber. Hidden forces that had remained in the shadows for centuries now stepped into the light. Reality itself began to shift. The physical world started peeling away, like old paint being stripped from a wall, revealing something magnificent and terrifying beneath it.

A new world.

A supernatural world.

A world where magic flowed freely and monsters walked openly among men.

The boundary that had once separated the human realm from the supernatural had shattered completely.

Humanity would never be the same again.

Elsewhere, far from the hidden passageway, Theophilus sat upright on his throne, his face pale with shock. Joy, alarm, and dread warred across his features as the weight of what was happening settled over him.

His sister had returned.

She had found her true love.

But she had also brought something else with her.

The war.

The prophecy.

The end of the fragile peace they had maintained for so long.

Fragments of the past flashed through his mind — the priest's warning, the disappearance, the years of waiting in silence. And now, as the heavens trembled above them, he finally understood the truth.

This war was never about good versus evil.

It was never about heroes and villains.

It was about something far more devastating.

The past versus the future.

Parents versus children.

Blood against blood.

Families would be torn apart. Entire generations would turn on one another. And as the first signs of the supernatural realm bleeding into the human world began to appear, only one thing was certain.

A bloodbath was coming.

One so vast and merciless that not even vampires would be able to drink from it.
