Chapter 49 - Chapter 48 The ESPN Revelation

"Blaire, they sent us to tell you that it's time for breakfast," a guy said, finally opening the door, while Blaire quickly turned around and leaned against the closet, hoping her cousin hadn't seen anything that could give her away.

"Yeah, tell them I'll be down in a minute," Blaire told them with a smile that didn't reach her eyes, waiting for him to leave her room so she could find some way to get the guy hidden in her closet out of there.

"What's taking you so long in here, Johny?" another voice said as he also walked into the room, taking in the scene that was unfolding.

The two guys who entered the room were nearly identical, which only proved they were twins.

"I already told John I'd be down in a minute, Ted," Blaire responded dryly, since between the two, she knew Ted was the more troublesome one, usually dragging John into his crazy antics.

Faced with that attitude, Ted simply narrowed his eyes while staring intently at Blaire. "What are you hiding?" Ted suddenly asked, noticing Blaire's nervous demeanor and how she maintained a rigid posture.

"I don't know what you're talking about," Blaire responded, glaring at Ted, while Wyatt, who was inside the closet, slowly began to panic, thinking everything was over.

"Don't tell me you have weed in there?" Ted suddenly asked, pointing his hand toward the closet Blaire was leaning against.

"For the last time, Ted, I told you I don't sell weed anymore," Blaire responded, repeating for the hundredth time the exact phrase she had said over the past few months.

She still remembered the time Ted and Johny walked into her room for who knows what and found her weed stash.

After that, the situation spiraled out of control with both of them getting high, and Blaire almost ending up homeless, living in her car since she had nowhere else to go.

The option of returning to her own house crossed her mind at that moment, but remembering her father and how she was treated in that house, she decided that living on the street was a much better option than that.

Following that, the atmosphere in the room grew heavy, with Blaire looking seriously at each of them, waiting for them to leave so she could think of a way to get Wyatt out of here without anyone knowing he was here in the first place.

"Achoo!" Suddenly, the sound of a sneeze completely shattered the silence in the room, causing two pairs of eyes to lock onto the closet, and Blaire closed her eyes, knowing she could no longer cover for him.

"Alright, boys, not a single word," Blaire told them, pointing her fingers at each of them, putting special emphasis on Ted, who was the most likely to spill the beans before anyone else.

"You can come out," Blaire said toward the closet, before stepping aside to give Wyatt room to step out with an apologetic smile, finally putting a face to the two unfamiliar voices he had been listening to.

"What's up, guys," Wyatt said with an awkward smile, raising his hand and greeting the two teenagers in front of him.

For a moment, the two teenagers simply stared at him, as if they were still weighing what Wyatt was doing there.

"So, you had sex," Ted suddenly said without even filtering his words, causing Blaire to shoot a death glare in his direction.

"Why is sex the first thing you think of, Ted?" Blaire said, stepping toward him intimidatingly.

"Oh, come on, Blaire, are you going to tell me two teenagers completely alone in a bedroom didn't do anything at all?" Ted asked interrogatively. "Back me up on this, Johny," Ted said toward his twin, who hadn't said anything until now.

"Well, he kind of has a point..." John started to say before shutting his mouth tight upon seeing Blaire's gaze shift in his direction.

"Alright, listen up, both of you," Blaire told them, raising her voice a bit but not enough to draw the attention of her aunt and uncle, who were probably already in the kitchen.

"My sex life is none of your business," she said seriously, looking at each of them intently.

"So you admit you did have sex," Ted suddenly said, before Blaire stepped forward, grabbed him by the collar of his t-shirt, and slammed him against the wall.

"Make another out-of-line comment like that, and I assure you I will make your life a living hell, do you understand me?" she told him, causing Ted to swallow nervously while raising his hands in a clear sign of surrender.

"Okay, okay," he said, and then Blaire removed her hands from him, and he scurried over next to John.

"So now what are you going to do with...?" Ted started to say, pointing toward Wyatt, still not knowing the name of the person in front of him.

"Wyatt," he responded with a smile, introducing himself to both.

"Wyatt, this is John and Ted, my cousins," Blaire told him, skipping the long introductions to get straight to the matter at hand.

"And how do you plan on getting him out of here?" John asked toward his cousin, wanting to know how she would manage to make Wyatt leave without his parents noticing.

"How we will manage, you mean," Blaire said, looking at the two, knowing that on her own she wouldn't be able to get him out of there without at least Aunt Susan noticing.

"Sorry, this is your problem, not ours," Ted said quickly, unwilling to be an accomplice to this whole matter.

"If you don't help me, I'll tell Aunt Susan what happened at school," Blaire said, crossing her arms and raising an eyebrow toward the two, who revealed a trace of panic at the thought of what had occurred weeks prior.

"You wouldn't dare," John said, though the panic of what it would mean if his parents found out was evident in his voice.

"Try me," Blaire responded, staring intently at the two of them, and they began a staring contest in which neither wanted to back down.

After a few seconds, both twins stopped looking at their cousin and reluctantly accepted. "Fine," the two said almost at the same time.

"Mom is in the kitchen right now and Dad is in the dining room; we just have to distract him so he can slip out the door," John finally said, as he and Ted began to exit the room, ready to serve as lookouts so their parents wouldn't discover the uninvited guest in the house.

"Alright, follow me," Blaire said, and without realizing it, she took Wyatt's hand and began to guide him toward the stairs.

Peeking her head out, Blaire could see her Uncle Matty sitting at the table, frowning as he read the newspaper.

"Damn Republicans are ruining us," he could be heard muttering as he read the political section of the paper, while Ted and John approached and took a seat at the table.

Seeing their father concentrated on his newspaper and knowing their mother would take longer in the kitchen, they discreetly gestured for them to come down and get out through the door quickly before anything else could happen.

As they were coming down the stairs, the steps began to creak, drawing Matty's attention, who started to turn his head in that direction, causing both Wyatt and Blaire to quickly bolt back up to the second floor.

"Hey, Dad, what happened in the paper again?" Johny quickly asked, catching his father's attention.

"Oh, boys, you won't believe this latest thing..." Matty began to say, explaining everything the newspaper was saying and the new reforms and laws being carried out under the Obama administration.

Knowing that Matty's speech would go on for a while, Blaire knew it was now or never, so both quickly rushed down the stairs and opened the door softly, finally making it outside the house.

"And safe," Blaire couldn't help but sigh, letting out all the air she had been holding in from avoiding the trouble she would have been in if she were caught.

"I guess that's everything," Wyatt finally said, while his hand was still holding Blaire's, who didn't seem to want to pull hers away.

"Yeah," Blaire said, leaving the two in a comfortable silence with the sound of cars in the background.

Without saying a word, Wyatt leaned in toward Blaire again, who didn't seem to resist, and also began to lean in until their lips touched again to begin a chaste goodbye kiss.

Once they parted, Wyatt asked in a low voice, his forehead still pressed against hers, "Will I see you again?" At that question, an imperceptible smile couldn't help but rest on Blaire's face.

"Maybe," Blaire told him.

"I have to go," Blaire suddenly told him, taking a few steps back as her hand settled on the doorknob.

"I think I should go too before the coach kills me," Wyatt said, though Blaire didn't quite catch the last part and only watched as Wyatt walked away until turning the corner.

After she lost sight of him, Blaire went back inside the front door of the house, seeing that the table was already set and she was the only one missing to sit down. "Blaire, dear, when did you go out?" Susan asked her with a smile.

"I just needed some fresh air, Aunt Suzy," Blaire responded to her as she sat back down at the table, watching Ted pretend to kiss someone in front of him, with John chuckling softly at it.

Without saying a word, Blaire simply kicked Ted straight in the shin, causing him to hiss in pain. "Ted, what's wrong?" Susan asked at her son's reaction, who, seeing the warning look Blaire was giving him, simply told her it was nothing, leaving the room in silence once more.

After that, everyone finished breakfast, and while Susan took the plates from the table to clean them, everyone moved to the living room of the house, with Blaire picking up a book that was on the coffee table and starting to look for the page where she had left off.

Matty, without saying anything else, turned on the television, which was tuned to ESPN.

"In other news, the Boston College team lost yesterday against the Clemson Tigers, with Wyatt Sterling once again giving us an outstanding performance," the commentator said, while highlights of yesterday's game were shown along with Wyatt's profile picture in the right corner.

The moment she saw the photo on the TV, Blaire didn't take long to recognize that face and the person who had been in her house just a few minutes ago.

Now, what he had said about his coach killing him made perfect sense, as well as the reason why someone studying at an out-of-state university was in Boston.

The same look Blaire had was seen on John and Ted, who immediately turned their heads in her direction, and she simply shook her head, saying she didn't know anything about that.

While that was happening at the Bennett house, at the hotel where the Tigers team was staying, Coach Dabo had his gaze fixed on Wyatt, who simply stood there stiffly, seeing that the look Dabo was giving in his direction was not the best.

Faced with that, a single thought crossed Wyatt's mind: "I'm dead."
