Just hearing Asia's voice eased the bottom of his heart. Maybe that was the power of a Sacred Gear, too.
Issei sat on a swing and talked with Asia. Bit by bit, Asia began to speak of her own upbringing.
She'd never known her real parents; she was an orphan raised by the church immediately after birth.
She'd been brought up as a devout believer in a modest, impoverished church.
Then one day, her Sacred Gear suddenly awakened, granting her the power of healing—and the church enshrined her as a "Saint."
Using that power, she'd made pilgrimages all over the world to help the poor, like war orphans.
Then, with her next words, Asia's expression clouded over.
One day, in a certain place, she healed the wounds of a man who had collapsed by the roadside.
But that man turned out to be a pureblood devil—so the label attached to her flipped from "Saint" to "Witch."
'God damn it! What selfish bastards!' Issei was furious at the devil who had exploited Asia's kindness and tricked her, but even more so at the church's tyranny: they had shamelessly exalted her as a "Saint," then the moment they found out about the devil, moved to eliminate her.
Unable to stay at the church any longer, Asia had been wandering with nowhere to go when Raynare and the others approached her, and that was how she ended up here in Japan now.

Hearing a story like this really drove it home: he couldn't just take for granted that his parents were alive and well and that getting an education at school was normal.

With a desperate scrap of courage, Issei invited Asia on a date, and Asia broke into a beaming smile.
Right after hearing a story like that, there was no way any ulterior motives could well up inside him.
It was then that—
"Playtime's over, Asia."
Along with those words, he turned to see—
"L-Lady Raynare?!"
'That's right—Raynare was standing there.'
"Asia. I won't allow you to run away on your own. Come back."
But Asia responded, "N-No! I don't want to suffer any more pain!" For the first time, she showed Raynare a will to resist.
"I see. …Then we'll just have to force you back. …Kalawarna!"
"Yes!"
Next to Raynare, another fallen angel appeared.

"I merely followed Lady Raynare's orders."
Kalawarna's expression clouded ever so slightly.
Just like Mittelt, it seemed she wasn't exactly enthusiastic about killing Asia.
"All right, enough chitchat! Here I come!"
Kalawarna spread her wings and brandished an iron sword, charging straight at Issei.
But he wasn't about to go down without a fight!
Kalawarna's attack missed, and Issei circled around behind her.
"W-Where did you go— mmph!? Mmmmmph!!?"
Just as he'd done with Mittelt, Issei waited for the moment she turned around and kissed her.
Naturally, he didn't just slide his tongue into her mouth—his right hand ripped the fabric covering her chest, exposing her lush breasts.
