Chapter 69 - Chapter 69: Farsight Spell

When Rowan had been talking with Serie earlier, she mentioned that not long ago, she had heard about Frieren and the Hero defeating the Demon King.

She had even asked Rowan whether Frieren: Beyond Journey's End was a story about a hero defeating the Demon King.

Rowan had told her it wasn't.

On the surface, that seemed to suggest Hero Himmel hadn't died yet.

But you couldn't judge something like that just from appearances.

After all, elves and humans had completely different senses of time. For humans, "not long ago" might mean a few days ago, or maybe a few months ago.

But for an elf with an incredibly long lifespan, one month ago was "not long ago," one year ago was "not long ago," ten years ago was "not long ago," and even a hundred years ago could still count as "not long ago."

So trying to determine whether Himmel was dead or not based on that phrase alone would be way too careless.

Of course, Rowan had dream-maker Orochimaru on his side. Even if Himmel really was dead, they could always drag him back from death with Edo Tensei.

But if they did that, there was a very good chance Frieren would hunt them down.

Not worth it.

Then again… since they had Edo Tensei, why revive Himmel?

Wouldn't it be even better to reanimate a top-tier swordsman from the world of One Piece?

For example, Zoro's ancestor, the legendary dragon-slaying samurai of Wano, Shimotsuki Ryuma.

That guy's strength definitely wouldn't be inferior to Dracule Mihawk's. He might even be stronger. If they brought him back with Edo Tensei, he'd be a serious asset.

Rowan stroked his chin and said, "If you want a swordsman who can fight you on equal footing, it's not like there isn't one. What do you think of Wano's legendary dragon-slaying samurai, Shimotsuki Ryuma?"

Mihawk gave him a look that clearly said, Are you messing with me? He knew who Ryuma was, but the problem was that the man had been dead for hundreds of years.

Rowan saw right through what he was thinking and said with a grin, "Don't get worked up yet. Ryuma really is dead, but that doesn't mean he can't fight you."

Mihawk sneered. "What, are you saying you can bring him back to life?"

"That's not impossible," Rowan replied.

Mihawk: "???"

Did this guy hear himself? Revive someone who'd been dead for centuries?

Even Devil Fruit powers couldn't do something like that.

Rowan smiled. "Come with me and you'll see."

He raised a hand and opened an air door. The other side didn't lead somewhere random—it opened into the port city of Nanohana in the Alabasta Kingdom.

Mihawk's pupils contracted sharply a few times, and he gave Rowan a long look.

A few minutes ago, he had been in the East Blue.

A few minutes later, he was back in the Grand Line.

That speed was absurd.

"You're a power user too?" Mihawk admitted he was starting to get curious about Rowan. An ability like that was unbelievably convenient.

Rowan nodded. "You could say I'm a Door-Door Fruit user."

"The Door-Door Fruit?" Mihawk said. "I've heard of it. But from what I remember, that fruit is only for short-range movement. Don't tell me you've already awakened it."

If Rowan was an awakened fruit user, then maybe long-distance movement really was possible with the Door-Door Fruit.

"You could say that."

The Door-Door Fruit Rowan had eaten had already been absorbed by the golden gate, so there was no real question of awakening or not awakening.

Or rather, the moment the golden gate devoured the Door-Door Fruit, Rowan gained access to everything the fruit could do.

Long-distance movement wasn't a problem for him at all.

"Why are we here?" Mihawk asked. "If you really can revive that dragon-slaying samurai, shouldn't we be going to Wano?"

Rowan shook his head. "Ryuma isn't in Wano. Gecko Moria stole his corpse. Right now it's in the Florian Triangle, so we need to sail there and find Moria."

"In that case, why come to Alabasta?"

"Because I've never been to the Florian Triangle."

Rowan answered plainly, "The Door-Door Fruit can let me instantly go to places I've already been, or places I've personally seen. But it can't take me somewhere I've never seen or never visited."

"So we come to Alabasta first, and from there we sail to the Florian Triangle."

Mihawk nodded. "Understood. Where's the ship?"

Rowan looked over at Hashirama.

Hashirama nodded and clapped his hands together. "Wood Release: Shipbuilding Jutsu."

In an instant, a luxurious three-story sailing ship grew right out of the ground.

Mihawk said, "I've seen a lot in my life, but I can honestly say I've never seen anything like that."

A ship that big had just grown out of the earth.

That wasn't just unusual.

It was absurd.

After everyone boarded, Rowan cast a speed-enhancing spell on the ship.

That spell could accelerate not only a person, but objects as well.

With that magic helping them along, the wooden sailship ended up moving at the speed of a yacht.

That was what it really meant to cut through the waves.

While the ship sped toward the Florian Triangle, Rowan slipped away and made a quick trip back to the Naruto world. He found Serie and asked her for one more spell.

Farsight magic.

As mentioned before, Rowan could use the Door-Door Fruit to travel to places he had personally seen.

If he learned farsight magic, then he'd be able to use the Door-Door Fruit to reach any place in the One Piece world.

At first, Rowan had intended to ask Serie for a grimoire on farsight magic and learn it on his own.

But when Serie heard he wanted farsight magic, she simply transferred the spell to him directly.

It left Rowan feeling a little awkward.

After all, Serie had already given him three spells earlier.

Asking for another one now made him feel like he was getting greedy.

But Serie had a different perspective.

"With your current understanding of magic, learning farsight magic on your own would take at least a year, probably longer."

"Whereas I only need a week, maybe even less, to relearn it."

"So which option do you think is more worthwhile?"

"Don't feel awkward about it. If there's a spell you want, just ask me."

"Of course, if you really feel bad about it, then introduce me to more worlds."

Whether it was the world of One Piece or the world of Naruto, both had plenty of things that interested Serie.

So in her eyes, a few spells were nowhere near enough to repay Rowan.

As long as Rowan was willing to let her see more worlds, she wouldn't mind giving him even more magic.
