Chapter 48 - The Knox Disease

Andrew's smile froze at Knox's statement. He heard everything they were saying?

Why didn't he say anything at all?!

The only reason he kept picking at Knox about him was because he really didn't show any sign that he knew they even existed!

Andrew only stumbled a moment before shamelessly brushing it off. He wasn't known as the fox of Cloud for no reason after all!

After restoring his relaxed expression, Andrew popped on a charming smile. Flashing his pearly whites, he voice was fluid in English with only the touch of a slight Russian accent.

"You speak Russian? That's truly spectacular, me and my old friend here rarely encounter someone of the same tongue. It is delightful to meet you..." Andrew trailed off waiting for Rory to fill in the blanks of his name, however the person working on the computer didn't even bother to look at him!

Andrew's expectant face broke when a rebellious eyebrow started to twitch ruining his relax facade. Only the sound of a screw driver turning and parts clicking was discernible as the room fell into an awkward silence.

Was he that angry? But, to ignore someone because you are angry was simply too childish!

"I'm Andrew Silver..." The insert that worked 80% of the time when it came to getting attention slipped out of Andrew's mouth. Still no reaction was shown.

Andrew glanced at the kid with the shaggy hair as they continued their concentrated work before glancing as Knox wo carried a slight smile on their lips. Never mind an awkward silence! Was he, Andrew Silver, the one ruining a peaceful one?

Knox's eyes held laughter in them at his friend's predicament, before finally deciding to intervene.

"His name is Rory Hynes and no need to bother trying to communicate. I'm thinking that he thinks as long as he doesn't interact with us we will disappear sooner." Knox laughed in a low rumble.

Andrew was baffled at Knox's words. He has been cursed, shot, hit, pushed, and many other terrible things, but ignored? Who would dare!

"Hmm I'm guessing this is your newest roommate that Dr. Ivanov told me about?" Andrew chose to leave it alone after all, Knox was much more easily annoyed than he was.

If he wasn't saying anything why should he?

Yet, still the fact that Knox wasn't very insulted was weird...

What was so special about the scrawny little man?

Any casualness in Knox's eyes disappeared at Andrew's statement and his always cold gaze turned into sharp swords, "You spoke to Dr. Ivanov about our last meeting?"

His pale thin lips turned up into a icy smile, "Did he discuss everything with you?"

Meeting his sharp gaze left Andrew in a cold sweat. He automatically got what Knox was hinting at. After all, nothing makes him look more murderous than discussing his poison.

Knowing better than to lie, he nodded his head.

"And that's why you are concerned about me starting a war?"

Once again he just nodded his head, the pressure Knox was emitting made it too difficult to speak! He felt like he could die at any second!

Andrew wanted to explain more but glanced at the person who hadn't stopped working on the floor.

Why was he mentioning the war in front of his roommate? Was he going to kill him afterwards!?

Wasn't that a bit too cruel? While the person might be childish it did look like he really did just want to mind his own business.

Andrew was drenched in cold sweat facing such an emotionless and unpredictable Knox.

"You have nothing to worry about old friend. I don't do anything recklessly, you know this. However, if you think I'm not capable of handling my mafia... I'll completely understand."

Andrew's eyes flew open in panic, "No no no you know I would never do that, I was just concerned. Come on Knox stop playing around."

During the terrifying experience, Rory sent a glance at Knox before going back to her computer.

The presence Knox gave off wasn't something any normal 22 year old would have. While she was known for being well beyond her years in her past life, her energy was different. She was just mature, Knox was dripping with the energy of a war veteran.

Someone who has seen hundreds of people die and has sent hundreds of people to the grave.

Oof! Internally Rory shook her head.

She really needed to get out of here as soon as possible... Knox wasn't the kind of person you could keep restrained.

While Rory was deciding to study even more diligently to escape Knox, Andrew was crying about deciding not to make a will!

He knew how much Knox hated when people saw him as incompetent because of his illness. In fact, if it was any other person they might be dead already!

Andrew lost a bit of his playfulness, "Knox regardless of your capabilities, I am your brother, I would follow you to the grave."

He tried his best to keep his eyes steady while meeting the cold dead eyes of his friend. His face stayed stable, but his heart couldn't help from feeling sad.

'You weren't always like this…'

Luke couldn't help reminiscing of a time when Knox acted his actual age. A time when he didn't have so much death in his aura.

'That bitch will pay in the future brother, trust me we will make her pay.'

The room fell into silence before Knox broke his gaze away, the tension in the room left as if it never existed and Knox relaxed in his chair.

Andrew wasn't as quick to recover as Knox. Silently pulling a blue handkerchief out of his suit's front pocket to wipe the cold sweat off his forehead.

Knox might be willing to let him go for now, but he was definitely going to hear about it later… He couldn't help but want to beat the old doctor up, who exactly said this beast was on the edge of dying??!

"This is annoying." Knox ruffled his hair and let out an aggravated sigh.

The comment made Andrew follow Knox's gaze to the ever quiet kid on the floor.

"It's definitely heard too much information, what should we do…."

Rory paused. Suddenly a second person was caught in the spell of a cold sweat. A doctor would definitely diagnose this disease called Knox as highly contagious!
