Ye Mingmei looked up at him in astonishment.
"I can help you, if you want, everything of the Ye family can be yours."
Yu Xiuzhun's lips parted indifferently, each word struck Ye Mingmei's heart like a hammer.
"I don't want it, it was never mine to begin with."
Ye Mingmei took a step back, warily watching Yu Xiuzhun.
"Why would you help me, knowing that I have no relation to the Ye family? I don't want anyone's pity!"
"Shh—"
Yu Xiuzhun pulled her in front of him, his hand pressing against her lips.
"Can you really not guess why I would help you?" Yu Xiuzhun's gaze deepened, immeasurable and shining with a light that Ye Mingmei could not understand.
She instinctively averted her gaze, but her chin was still held firmly by the man.
"Don't be in such a hurry to reject me. Perhaps you'll change your mind later. I welcome you to come to me any time."
