I arrived at the party and all eyes were on me. Including those in uniforms. I avoided looking at them and tried to find Alexa instead. If she is here then security will have no problems guarding me. But she is absent then we are going to have some serious issues. Starting with the brunette on my ten o'clock. A brigadier general who has always looked for funding for a mission he deems classified. I made it clear if he can't tell me what he is up to then he better stop asking. I like nothing horrible on my conscience. He on the other hand has no qualms getting his hands dirty. Then there is the blonde on my two o'clock she is looking for an ATM to fund her extravagant lifestyle. She has gotten divorced eight times. She has three sons. She hopes that I would marry one of them. I got a restraining order against them and so she has sworn to make my life miserable. And finally on my twelve o'clock was Liam himself.
He was arguing about peace treats that the army recently overlooked. When the guy he was talking to stopped to admire me. He saw me and immediately ran to dance with me. I quickly ducked and covered while my security battalion diverted Liam's attention to his father. He wasn't distracted for long. He saw that I was with Alexa and he gave her an angry look.
He waited patiently till I left to use the bathroom and followed me in. He locked the door and took off his jacket. He stayed hidden till I finished washing my hands. He came out and blocked my path. "Darling where are you going? I was hoping that we could talk about our future." I tried to move past him but finally, he pinned me to the ground and took off his shirt. He smiled at me, "Do you know how long I have waited to have you? No matter. Tonight I am your prince." He leaned down with a knife to cut my dress when we heard a loud bang. Someone was trying to break down the door. It took them five tries before it broke. The battalion barged in. Mr. Weird was in front, "If you are her prince then I am your worst nightmare. Please do the world a favor. Why don't you grow a brain and leave her in peace. She doesn't seem to be interested in you so move on." This infuriated Liam. He decided to lunge at Mr. Weird. Big mistake. With a flick of his wrist, Liam was on the floor eating the tiles and grout. A female bodyguard escorted me back to the party while security dealt with Liam.
Mr. Weird came and sat next to me. He had a smile on his face that refused to go away even the rest of the attendees looked like they were suffering from PTSD. He serenely sat and listened to old man Max talk about the good old days when things were as simple as black and white. He happily agreed with Max while I was struggling to stay awake. His stories lull me to sleep easier than a glass of warm milk. Alexa came to my rescue and I happily slipped out to the dance floor to dance with her. My security happily watched as we laughed and danced.
Finally, it was time to go home. One of the guards asked me, "If you keep getting kidnapped. Why come here, to begin with?" I smiled, " I come here for Alexa. She and I have been each other's shoulder to cry on for the past several years. I met her when I was in working on a private project for the president. She and Sembi went to the same school and they were model students. One day she was absent. The next thing we knew five weeks went by and neither the school nor her parents said or did anything to tell me where she was. I had to file a missing person's report for her parents to confess. They were getting a divorce and decided that Alexa was the most unnecessary person in their life so they sent her to a school for delinquents. They wanted her out of sight and mind with no intentions of ever contacting her again. I made calls to the rest of her family and her paternal uncle responded. He adopted her and brought her back safe and sound. When she grew up and became famous her parents discovered that they had a daughter and decided to introduce her to society. I only attend to keep her company. Nothing more." The Bentley arrived and I was escorted home.
