Day 2
I opened my eyes on what I assumed the next day due to the tiny number two in the very corner of my sight. I thought to myself "Seems like my abilities from my second life have carried over to this one. I wonder if my powers have changed at all." I thought for a few minutes to decide which of my skills I should still have to test out.
I decided to try out my variation of astral projection so I can have a proper look around my new home(?). A faint glow of five different colors shines from my body for a split second and forms an invisible orb over it. I see a cave that looks like it was made naturally. I look at my new body and see a group of ugly green children sleeping.
There looked to be about thirty or so of them with a good majority being the size of an infant. Around ten looked to be the average size of a young child. Maybe they were the adults of this group. Well it seems like I was born into this life a goblin by the looks of it. It seems fitting for someone that was a nobody in their first life and a disappointment in their second to end up as one of the lowest creatures in a fantasy world. I went back to my body and went back to sleep trying to figure out how I am going to live my life as a goblin.
Day 3
"Okay what is my plan for survival?" I thought as I laid there in the pile that was my new family. I got up and saw another goblin frolicking about. It seems that there has been a jump in our physical abilities and appearances since yesterday. All of us "newborns" are now the size of young children as well. I am guessing that one was getting stir crazy not being able to really move until now.
Instead of doing the same, I go and find a somewhat empty area in the cave to meditate in to figure out if my abilities have changed at all since I am in a new body. I already know I can still project my soul out for reconnaissance purposes which should be important.
I am focusing on the three "soul charges" that I have gained since I was born to see if I can summon an ally or a teacher to tell me anything they can about this world and how it works. After what I can assume was a few minutes, I hear a voice say "Interesting." I open my eyes and look around. I no longer see the cave but what I can only describe as the deep expanse of space.
"Over here boy." I hear the male voice say again. I turn my head to see an older man sitting in an ornate throne-like chair looking at me with intrigue and a bit of insanity. "First of all boy, I am not insane in the least. I have just seen a lot more that most people should see, same as yourself. The only difference between us is that my mind is able to be cognizant of it while your mind locks the memories away" the man said with a pointed inflection.
"It is interesting however for a being to not be a mage yet have the experience with both the second and third magics and to be a human soul inside a monster's body" the man said while observing me with curiosity. After a few moments of him staring at me he said "No, you are not quite a human soul. You are somewhat similar to myself and few others I have come across in my multiversal observation. You don't exist yet you do."
Not wanting to come off as rude to what I can only see as a god in the form of something familiar in the back of my head I politely interrupted his rant to ask "Who are you and where am I?" The man(god?) stops his mumbling, he looks at me again, and starts laughing like a crazy person. I think to myself hoping he can't read my mind, "Oh that doesn't seem like a good sign for me to have the god that brought me to his realm to be batshit crazy."
The man stopped laughing and said "Sorry about that. I sometimes forget that not all beings enlightened by the multiverse retain the knowledge given to them after rebirth. Also, I can read your mind and I find your unintentional humor quite clever." I asked him "How so?" He then grins showing off fangs and exclaims "Old Man Time. Wizard Marshall. Master of the Kaleidoscope. 4th of the Twenty-seven Dead Apostle Ancestors. I am referred to by many names but you may call me Kischur Zelretch Schweinorg or simply Zelretch for short."
I stare at the man or rather Zelretch twitching my eye finally realizing why I recognize him. He looks at me expecting me to be in awe but I halt that train of thought of his by yelling "You are that vampiric troll with a magical girl fetish from the Type-Moon franchise!"
He drops the silly facade that he had and said calmly "Ah, it seems like the first world you were from was a nexus dimension with knowledge of the multiverse in the form of fictional stories. Like I haven't run into your kind before. Always asking for "Gold Fingers" or "Cheats" or whatever you call them. But it seems you are different from the rest. The dimension you exist in now is a dichotomic realm where you experienced a second life before your story was meant to begin. Interesting."
As he said that my mind was filled with information from the different stories I read in my first life which included the one I was in now. The story I became a part of is known as Re:Monster. I was the cousin of the main character before we both died. Well, he was killed and I killed myself. Now, I am in what I can assume is the goblin cave in the Kuuderun Great Forest where Kanata now Rou was born if that odd acting goblin was Rou. I hope so.
Zelretch gets my attention and says "You came back to reality much faster than many others have and correctly identified where you are. For that, I am going to use the Second Magic to modify your innate gift with the Third Magic to make it more interesting for me to watch. I will tell you what the changes are when you use them like you used to. Also for the fun of it, I will connect you to a "False" Throne of Heroes so that you have some proper teachers besides whatever you think up. Now go on and make me a tale I can enjoy."
I was forced out of his observation realm and I woke up to a group of goblins from my generation with the old man that named me in front checking to see if I was alive. "Young Goblin Kou are you alright? I noticed a strange energy about the cave with you at the center." I turn to him and apologize "Sorry about that Old Goblin Jii. I was meditating because that is what a voice in my head told me to do." Jii widens his eyes slightly, seeing that my own eyes were different from other goblins and says "Alright then. Everyone disperse and let Kou and I have a talk privately." The other goblins leave and Jii takes me aside and asks in a serious tone "Who or what are you and are you a threat to this home of mine?"
I look at Jii confused and ask "Why would I be a threat to my family?" Jii then sighs and says "It is your eyes. They are not the eyes of a normal goblin. They are a rainbow of colors when the light hits them and they shine with the intelligence I have only seen from my own father. I simply pray to the gods that you don't have the same fate as him." I ask " What happened to him?" Jii replies "I will tell you when I think you are ready. Now go to sleep, it is already too late for you to be awake."
I follow his advice and go to sleep wondering how Zelretch messes with my abilities and what kind of info is Old Man Jii hiding from me.
