They couldn't access their inventory vault nor signal for any help, Freia realised when they dodged another arrow. Khai was agile but he was soon panting by the time they made it to the front of the hall. Freia climbed the stone steps and got to the top of the platform along with Khai. Right at the top was a slab of stone that laid solemnly on top.
"A tomb?" Khai murmured and Freia nodded her head as she tried to read the engravings on the cenotaph.
"For all that it was and all that it will be. Years may change and years may fade. May this linger, far, wide - as you, not I?" Freia uttered and her brow quirked in Khai's direction. He shrugged, almost to say beats me. Freia noticed that there was a fresh bouquet of flowers at the back and she sniffed it.
"Someone else was here not too long ago," Khai noticed and Freia nodded in agreement. Who would appear in this place? What is this place? Why was this place built? She wondered. There was something strangely familiar about this place yet she couldn't quite place a finger on it. Sighing, she sat down when Khai's eyes noticed a stone that appeared out of place. Carefully, he stepped on it and the stones rearranged themselves to surface a glass bed. It slowly rose and a hologram appeared on the glass bed. Freia looked at the hologram; surprised. The person had an uncanny resemblance to her. Almost an 80% resemblance but the hologram was visibly older. Khai noticed that too., "She's an exact replica of my mother...but who would do such a thing?" Freia wondered as she studied the original body owner's mother's beautiful features. Even in this state, she appeared ethereal, almost as though she had an illuminance around her. Freia placed her hand against the hologram's cheeks and it faded away as soon as her hand came into contact with it. Freia's eyes watered as it slowly faded away. Stunned, Freia felt her cheeks and stared at her tears in stunned silence.
"Are you alright, Freia?" Khai asked, noticing that Freia seemed out of sorts and flushed. Freia nodded her head. She wasn't the one crying - so it must be remnants of the original owner's soul? She wondered. Was the original owner still within her body? What about the 21st century Freia then? Would she fade away?
Khai suddenly pulled her towards him and Freia glanced at him, visibly surprised. What was weak boy doing? Khai stepped on the same stone and soon the glass bed and the hologram disappeared. Freia was just glad for the slight comforting presence that Khai presented when he started quivering.
"That was scary, Freia. I'm sorry but I'm afraid of such things, even if it's your mother...," Khai uttered and Freia wanted to roll her eyes.
Just then, she noticed a passage way of air blowing against her cheeks.
"Khai, let me go," Freia said slowly but Khai shook his head and continued hugging her tightly.
Freia glanced heavenward - heavens know that she really didn't want to have an additional team mate to carry for the team.
"I think I've discovered a way out...," Freia explained and Khai glanced up, "Really?" he uttered with eyes filled with hope. His pretty face was just inches away from hers. She tried to shift herself back but Khai was holding her in an iron grip. For a weak boy, Freia was surprised that he had such tenacity and strength. She couldn't even free herself from his death grip.
"Could you let me go check out the potential exit?" she enquired and Khai released her instantly.
Fanning herself, she quickly got away and tried to examine the exit.
