I reached the place where smoke was coming from.
it was coming from the goblin village which was sat on fire by a group of adventurers .
there appeared to be 10 of them . I moved toward the person nearest to me . A brown haired bulky man with a long sword on his back.
that man brandished his sword the moment he saw me coming toward him.
"back off! this area is occupied by blueskull mercenaries." man as he gazed at me with caution.
"relax I just want to ask where the nearest city is from here."
"move to the East direction for about 70 km and you'll reach midford city."
"ok."
I didn't stay there any longer, I knew that he answered the question to get rid of me fast and I didn't have any problem with that.
but as I left I saw one of the goblins houses(Hut) bursting off as one big goblin came out. it was at least 10 meters tall with a giant tummy and with a large hammer in its hand it blasted a group of mercenaries in one swing.
"fuck! everybody run its B rank goblin lord!"
the guy which I was earlier talking to shouted as he began to run away from the monster.
The monster attacked all the mercenaries nearby and after finishing them off it looked toward me.
"Gaaa!"
I didn't move from my place, I had my plan for it to. I wanted to try my physical power. previously I didn't use them in battle because I didn't have any training in close combat, but because of my [dragon durability I ] I wasn't worried about it anymore .
I looked toward the monster who was charging toward me and smiled.
"come you pig!"
I charged toward it too. it swung its large hammer toward me I didn't back down I positioned my hand as I punched the hammer with full force. and next second-
"BOOOOM!!"
Forget about the hammer, the forest behind the monster was wiped out in a linear line. as for the monster, it had already disappeared from the scene and only some pieces of its body were scattered around the field.
"fu*k!"
I cursed out loud who knew my power had increased this much. fortunately none of the mercenaries had run in that direction otherwise even their body would have been wiped out.
"I need to control my power fast! otherwise I could kill people accidentally!"
I left the scene fast. as I headed toward the East.
along the way I increased my speed step by step so as to not lose control of it. I could reach there faster if I used [shadow teleportation] but I wanted to get familiar with my powers too.
and after one and half hours of constant running I finally reached midford city.
And in that one and half hour i was able to control my speed by a large margin. I could now run with about 60% of my speed without losing control.
"if only I could control my strength this fast."
I became depressed as I thought about the destruction my single punch caused.
I needed to find a place and do mana control urgently. once again I didn't like that I was not in control.
midford was one of the many cities situated in the outer ring of midgard. as I reached closer and closer I saw a line of adventurers waiting for the entry near the large wall. this large wall surrounded the whole city, as this was one of the main defences of the city against the monsters.
The line was not that big, around seven people were ahead of me. soon it was my turn , I came in front of the card scanner. it basically needed my ID proof. I pressed the blue button next to the scanner as the ID scanner changed to the retina scanner.
it was normal for adventurers to lose their ID in wilderness so this was the method used by them to enter the city.
I brought my face close to the scanner as it scanned my retina and second after that a robotic voice sounded.
[welcome ]
[Eric Alastair ]
[age 19]
[status : missing]
"missing what?"
as I heard the robotic voice, the door ahead of me opened. as the busy life of the city came to view. but at the end of the gate several guards were lined up in two rows.
**
few minutes earlier
—inside one of the control rooms of the midford city border—
The guard was sitting on his chair as he ate the sandwich his wife made and watched feed on several monitors leisurely.
but suddenly one of the monitors started beeping red. The man put the sandwich down as he looked at what happened.
"someone without ID is entering? now what's new about that."
The guard grunted and picked up the sandwich again and checked the information of who was entering.
[Eric Alastair]
As his eyes landed on the name the sandwich in his hand dropped to the ground.
"Eric Alastair! that missing boy from Alastair family? I need to tell this to the captain!"
The guard started running towards the door frantically as if his life depended on it.
**
I stepped forward as I tried to move away from the rows of guards. but my way was blocked again.
"hello sir Eric, my name is Devon bishop I'm the commanding officer here."
a man with grey hair and a rough looking face, and in a military uniform greeted me.
I just nodded. I already knew where this was going. they already knew my identity, it was not surprising. hiding Alastair name in Midgard was close to impossible and there appearing here was beneficial to me too.
"can you arrange a room for me?"
although my words were of request my tone was of authority.
"yes of course sir, but before that we need to check something ."
Devon signalled one of the guards. The guard came close with black rectangular glass slab in his hand.
"I'm sure you already know what this is. It's a mana signature device. every individual has a different mana signature so if you are fake you should drop your act now."
Devon said with a cold tone.
I didn't say anything and put my hand on the slab and injected mana in it.
soon the slab started to turn green and a few seconds later it had fully changed its colour to bright green.
"I welcome you to midford city sir. I must say it is quite surprising for you to come here after going missing for 10 months."
hearing the last part I had a weird look on my face.
"what are you talking about I was only gone for one and a half days?"
now it was his turn to have a weird look on his face.
"no sir you have been gone for 10 months. did you perhaps hurt your head while fighting monsters"
Devon Said as I could see question marks on his face.
"no I'm fine, just guide me to my room."
I decided to change the subject as I knew that devon was not lying.
It must be because of that dungeon. but I never heard of the dungeon having a time difference but then again I never heard of black portal either.
before I knew it we were already in front of a luxurious hotel. it had 50 floors and was coloured brown and white. it was just one block away from where we previously were.
as we entered the lobby devon handed me a key and card.
"this is my number if there is any problem please call. and your suite is on the 45th floor."
after saying that devon was about to leave but I stopped him.
"I have a question"
"yes?"
"what are those people doing"
I asked as pointed out the people who were randomly tapping in air and this was not only in the hotel, even most of the people outside were doing the same thing.
"them? they are using their status screen."
Devon said in a matter of fact tone.
"status what?"
"Ah! you probably don't remember "
'so he's going with a memory problem huh?'
it was understandable. I appeared out of nowhere after being missing for 10 months and didn't even know what happened in those 10 months so memory loss was the only answer.
although I still needed to check If he was telling the truth or not, but all in all I believed him after all who would dare to lie to young master of Alastair family.
"so it happened four months ago-
