(Writing may seem a bit different because I'm trying to make it seem more like it's in the moment rather than telling a story from her perspective.)
I felt my back against the dead moose as I lay against it. Every breath I take is followed by a sharp pain. I look down at my ribs and see a bit of deformity. I chuckle, but that turns into a low scream as tears form in my eyes. My breaths come out ragged as my body trembles slightly. I feel like I'm bleeding, and I am. But it was different. It feels like I'm bleeding in places I obviously wasn't. Not the worst feeling in the world but it really isn't helping me mentally.
"Maybe, just maybe, I'll die here today."
I look at my arms. While they aren't in good shape, they could be worse. I lean my head back and close my eyes. I feel the coldness around me as I calm my breathing. After a couple minutes I feel a lot more calm. I open my eyes and stare up at the falling snow. I feel cold, but there's a warmth in the cold that I can't describe.
The Winter Sprites, light blue in color, seemed like dazzling lights at the moment. To me, it's a beautiful sight. One that spurred me on for what I'm about to do next. Out of the three ribs I broke, only one is dislocated. It's one of my left ribs. I can't exactly relocate it easily.
I close my eyes and concentrate. I feel my blood flowing through my body, my heart beating in rhythm, every change in my body, and more. Through this I see some internal injuries, but nothing is life threatening. I focus on my chest and I feel the displaced rib. I urge the Winter Sprites around me to come to me. They did so without resistance. As they gather around me the temperature drops by a couple degrees. Not a lot, but enough to make a notable difference.
I will them to enter my body. There's a bit of resistance, but they slowly start entering my body. Most of them enter through my stomach and chest. Even though it's already cold, them entering me makes it more like a freezing cold. I shiver slightly as my body drops. I could feel the pressure coming onto my brain as I did this. I know I can't let it distract me.
After a sufficient amount of Winter Sprites enter me, I use them to push against my rib. The pain was almost instant. My muscles tense for a moment and my breathing hitches. It was only for a second, but I took in a deep breath causing even more pain. My heart rate sped up, and I spent half a minute calming myself.
I readied myself before doing it again. Only this time I was more firm with what I wanted them to do. I heard an audible pop followed by pain, alongside a bit of relief. I opened my eyes and my vision was blurry for a bit. I look around and my head starts to feel light. My body gets a similar feeling but its more sickly. I can feel my heart rate speeding up as I start hyperventilating. I feel anxiety creeping into my head.
Before things can get much worse I push myself up with my arms. A bit of pain went through my arms but not enough to stop me. Not even a second after I stand, a strong feeling of weakness overcomes me, and my vision goes black.
I'm not sure how long I was out, but as I regained consciousness I felt very cold. Normally it was cold, but this is different. I looked around and I could barely see a thing. It was snowing heavily. I try to roll over, but the pounds of snow on me make doing so difficult. Soon enough I crawl out of the snow. I looked down at my arms and the previous wounds are completely closed. The skin hadn't grown back, but they are more than usable.
I can feel how stiff my limbs are. My teeth chatter together, and every breath I take makes me grimace. After a couple seconds I find myself where the moose I killed lay. Without hesitation I formed a blade of ice on one of my hands and I start cutting into it. The meat and blood was frozen, but the further in I went the easier it was. I pulled out chunk after chunk of meat. Bones and organs were no exception.
Eventually there was enough room where I crawled inside the corpse. The smell was less than pleasant but I could hardly bring myself to care. After crawling in I grabbed the hide brought it together, sealing me and the snow storm outside. I formed needles of ice with slight curves to hold it together. I laid, shaking, inside the moose corpse.
"A snow storm comes when I pass out. As unlucky as that is, it probably saved me. Being passed out next to a corpse in a forest full of predators is a good way to die. There were a lot more Winter Sprites out than usual. The more Winter Sprites there are, the colder it becomes. They seemed a little angry though."
As I talk to myself my stomach growls. I rub my stomach as I looked around me.
"Raw moose meat it is. I really hope my wounds being exposed to these things doesn't make me sick. Actually.."
The magic I used before didn't amount to much so I wasn't really affected by it. With this in mind I start frosting over my open wounds. While I know the coldness will slow the healing process, it's better than them getting infected. With that done I started eating the moose from the inside out. Honestly it's a lot tougher than rabbit meat. Maybe that's because of the muscle. Eventually I eat my fill and look at the closed entrance. I unhooked some of the ice spikes and looked out. The Snow Storm had calmed greatly. My body temperature was back to a sound 83.40 fahrenheit
"It's a bit weird how my normal temperature is 83.4 when it was 84.2 2 days ago. I don't feel sick so I won't concern myself with it now. I need to wash myself again, my arms are weirdly fine, but what should I do after that?"
I crawl out of the moose corpse and stand up. I move my arms a little and look at them.
'My arms look a little pale. They seem fine but something's weird about them. They're colder than the rest of my body. The blood flow is fine but the temperature is off.'
I looked around at the Winter Sprites. I felt like I could understand them a bit better than before. I shake my head and look around. I needed to wash off, but it would be night in no more than 3 ½ hours.
