In other words, as long as it was still within range of his perception, the pavilion was still connected to this loop, but the moment it left his perception, he could no longer find it.
Di Tou was stuck between two possibilities regarding this occurrence, unsure if the entire 'straight bridge' was actually a strangely curved maze if looked at from above, and strange rules and distortions were making him see it as one linear path, thus meaning that while his Spiritual Sense was 'straight' earlier, it was actually curved into some strange and twisted shape, like a rope trail he had left behind, thus connecting him to the pavilion.
Once the pavilion was out of sight, however, naturally, poking forward 'straight' would no longer lead back, causing the path to once again appear endless.
