Chapter 7 - Chapter 7 - failure to launch

I immediately slam the door, the sound of a metallic screech roared from the other side.

I stepped back as I heard the crunch of the wooden door, noticing the 3 metal claws puncturing the door, fresh crimson blood dripping from the tips.

I look down and notice the tear in my shirt, then the pain rolled over me as I began to fumble backwards, falling onto the floor with a thud as my head went light.

I looked towards the door as the metallic roar grew louder, the door exploded off its hinges as the metallic beastly shape that was neither human nor robot ripped its way through the hall of the front entrance,

"How did you know," the beast growled in a whirring of metal scraping against metal, "that I was here to dissect you."

The creature suddenly pounced on me as I kicked out with my foot, barely able to avoid another claw impaling my gut.

I stumbled up and grabbed the bookshelf, bringing it down over the robot as I leaped towards the desk and took the leather-bound book laying open on it.

I ran towards the window and closed my eyes as I dove through it, I felt the glass tear my clothes and skin as my body hurdled down.

I opened my eyes and looked back up at the apartment, the beast looked down at me from the window, then it turned and went back inside.

I looked down again, clutching the book tightly in my arms, I closed my eyes and braced for impact.

I opened my eyes again, however this time I was in an area I was all too familiar with, the blank white room.

I looked at the doorframe again, I suddenly dropped to the floor as I saw the words written just above the handle of the door.

Test Failure, Destruction Eminent

All the symbols around the door frame that was there earlier have faded, all besides one.

I ran my finger over the engraving and felt the prick of my finger, a drop of blood flowed through the symbol as the door suddenly glowed a deep red.

I looked behind me and noticed the room start to disintegrate, exposing the empty whiteness of the void.

My fingers hovered over the handle only for a bit as I opened the door and plunged once again into the unknown on the other side.

"Yo man can you go grab the new delivery out back?"

I trudged to the back of the store as I opened the door and stepped outside, I walked over the truck that just pulled in and opened it up.

As I began to unpack the ingredients, I heard the sound of a thud, I turned around fast as I noticed the body of a man laying there, his head detached from his body as I looked up and noticed the floating door, the piece of metal wire that ran through the tops of the building had blood dripping from it, like the man in front of me had been decapitated.

I stumbled back and fell.

The manager came out and saw the body, immediately calling the police.
