CHAPTER 82: NOT-SO-HUNGRY DIANA

After he dropped the call, there was a knock at their door. Diana called out a muffled "Come in" as Nicodemus walked in.

Nicodemus entered. "Dinner, ma'am? Upstairs or downstairs?"

"I'm not hungry, Uncle Nik. I ate at the hospital. I'm really sorry I didn't tell you. But since you went through the trouble, just bring it here; I'll eat a little." Nicodemus offered with a warm smile.

"Alright, ma'am." A moment later, two maids entered carrying a spread that could only be described as a feast.

Nicodemus chuckled and looked at her. "This is to celebrate you today."

Diana smiled. "Thank you, Uncle Nik," she added.

Nik bowed and walked out of the room. She looked at her husband, grinning widely. "Did you hear that, hubby?"

James met her gaze, a hint of amusement dancing in his eyes. "Loud and clear."

Diana dug into the food with surprising gusto. James watched, a smirk playing on his lips. "Didn't you say you were full earlier?"

Diana looked at him, then back at the food that was almost finished. She looked back at him again. "Well, I don't know what is wrong with me," Diana responded between mouthfuls, a playful glint replacing her initial sheepishness.

James chuckled. "At this rate, I'll need to mentally prepare myself for a sumo wrestler, not a wife."

Diana reached across the table, playfully jabbing him in the side. "Are you saying you'll leave me if I gain a little weight?" Her voice, though teasing, held a hint of worry with tears already pooling at her eyes.

James blinked, surprised by the sudden vulnerability in her eyes. "No, no, of course not," he assured her, his voice gentle. "That wasn't what I meant at all."

"Then what exactly are you saying? In fact, I'm not eating anymore." She sighed, pushing the food away from her.

James frowned, a knot of concern tightening in his stomach. "Alright then." He rose and went to the door, calling for Nicodemus.

Nicodemus came in with the maids, who removed the trays. When Diana saw what was happening, she became livid and stared at him in unconcealed anger.

"You bastard! So you just removed the tray without asking me if I was going to eat or not?" She questioned angrily

James did a double take before turning around to look at her, confusion clouding his features. "You just said you were not eating again."

"Well, that's because I wanted you to coax me a little into eating again." Diana interrupted, her voice trembling slightly.

Realization dawned on James. Was this the "mood swing" his friend had mentioned? He rushed to her side, his voice filled with concern. "Diana, I'm so sorry. I misunderstood."

Tears fell from Diana's eyes. She stormed past him, muttering, "I hate you so much! Just don't talk to me tonight!" and slammed the bathroom door shut.

James stood alone, bewildered. "She didn't mean that, right?" he whispered, his heart heavy.

Inside the bathroom, the facade of anger melted away. Diana cradled her stomach, a secret smile gracing her lips. No one knew how happy she was except for her.

"Hey, baby, Mama is here for you, alright? But your daddy... I don't think he is. Your daddy is a very wicked man. He doesn't really care about anything, not even me." As she said it, fresh hot tears pooled in her eyes again. She quickly wiped her eyes and came out of the shower.

She came into the room to see her husband pacing. She ignored him, went to the closet, and changed into one of the new nightwears he had gotten her before coming out.

James turned to look at her as she came out of the closet looking breathtaking. Despite the tension, a flicker of desire sparked in his eyes.

"Diana, I'm so sorry," he repeated, his voice sincere.

"I just heard you telling our kid that I don't care about you, and that's not fair. It hurt."

Diana studied the serious expression on his face with a playful glint in her eyes as he said that and wanted to laugh hard, but she held herself and suggested instead, "I think you should go shower."

James raised an eyebrow. "Are you sure you're okay?"

"Perfectly fine," She insisted

Although he looked skeptical, he still went to shower.

Diana was already lying on the bed before he came out. She looked at him as he came out and bit her lip. All the while as he was in the shower, all she kept thinking about was how to get him to make love to her because she felt Hornier than usual.

She watched as he walked into the closet and changed before coming to join her on the bed.

As James crawled into bed, Diana watched him, her earlier frustration morphing into a different kind of desire. How could she get him to see what she truly wanted?

While she was lost in thought, He pulled her into his arms and kissed her hair.

"You good?" he asked again.

Diana nodded, but she was far from good. What she actually was, was horny, and the man lying next to her did not seem like he was going to make any move soon.
