Chapter 4 - Chapter IV: It Seems I Have a New Enemy

"Felix, it's not what you think..."

"Maurice, I understand that you hate me... But I have a request... Please don't hurt Emily... I beg you."

"It's not about that, you've misunderstood."

"I don't know what to believe anymore... Honestly, Maurice... I truly hate you."

"No... You can't say that."

Why is this happening? It's all because of this girl... I will make her life a living hell, I swear. Anyway, it's not like I can do it directly, so I have to take small steps to reach the end of this crucial plan... I just hope I don't further ruin my relationship with Felix.

The next day, Monday, everything seemed fine. At least for Monday. I mean, I had classes in the morning with Marcus, our teacher, and I started thinking about different things... Well, Jonathan was the one who lifted my spirits a bit, although he couldn't change my state entirely. Honestly, I think I was a bit too direct with Emily yesterday, but I can't let her reach the end of the story I read.

I headed to the council room with Jonathan, who was giving me various advice for my plan... Well, we finally arrived at the council room, and the door was open. Wait, something is off...

Only Jonathan, the council secretary, and I have the key to the council room, so there shouldn't be anyone else in here in our absence.

"Jonathan, did you have something to do in the room today and left the door open?"

"No... I thought you left it open..."

"Wait... I don't believe this... You go in first, Jonathan."

I entered the room behind Jonathan, who froze in fear and astonishment. I can only say that I had the same reaction when I saw what was happening in the council room. Felix and Emily were passionately kissing, with Felix sitting exactly in the spot where I was supposed to sit as the council president.

"Hm, it seems we've interrupted your little fun, haven't we?" I addressed Felix.

"Um, it's not what it looks like... We were just-"

"No... I don't care... It seems like you want to openly show your hatred towards me now, right?"

"That's not true... Your Highness, I don't know what happened..."

"Oh, you know... You were just kissing Emily... Anyway, that was my place, so if you somehow dirtied that chair, please take it to the cleaners, alright?"

"I... I don't know anything... I-I mean..."

It was futile for Felix to try to apologize because I didn't have the time or the mental state to listen to him. It seems that in the end, I have to do something serious about this girl... Anyway, it's not like I wouldn't do it, but I need to accelerate the pace of the plan a bit, or I'll remain forever alone.

"Jonathan, postpone today's meeting. Honestly, I don't agree with the other members seeing all this... Anyway, tomorrow, after classes, there will be an emergency meeting where I'll clarify some things, alright?"

"Alright, Maurice... Well, I don't think it will end that easily, right?"

"No... Anyway, today I want to be left alone. After witnessing the scene a few seconds ago, I need to gather myself and regain my senses."

"Your Highness, it's not Felix's fault... It's my fault," Emily said, tears streaming down her face.

"Oh, I know exactly whose fault it is, and that's why tomorrow, I will resolve this situation... Until then, I hope you reflect on your actions and prepare to defend yourselves in front of the other members, Marcus, and the director..."

It seems tomorrow will be an important day. Nothing can calm me down at this moment... I think Jonathan still blames Felix for what happened, but I don't care... What matters is that from tomorrow onwards, I will apply a different strategy. I tried to be kind to the two of them at first, but now I can't stop myself from having second thoughts or taking exams of conscience.

Tonight, I didn't sleep at all. Honestly, I wouldn't have been able to sleep after everything that has happened these past few days. However, I dozed off for a few hours towards morning, enough to not doze off during Marcus's classes or the music lesson.

Something happened during the music lesson, though. My heart started pounding, especially when our music teacher asked Felix to sing a classical Italian song, specifically "Preghiera" by Tosti, one of the most emotionally charged songs in Paolo Tosti's repertoire. His angelic voice, the beautiful lyrics, and the melodic line made tears well up in my eyes, while my classmates started applauding.

However, I couldn't give up on my plan from yesterday. I informed the council members, Marcus, and my uncle, the director, to come and discuss what needs to be done regarding the two of them, especially Emily.

"Dear director, esteemed teacher, dear colleagues... I apologize for interrupting your important matters, but I believe we must be objective in this meeting and consider what we can do about these two young individuals... Well, I think the best punishment would be to exclude Emily from the council, but I'm open to opinions."

No one had a different opinion because they were all afraid of our director, the son of Duchess Olga, and also my uncle. I knew it would happen this way, so the decision would be carried out through a vote. Now all that was left was to wait for some members to agree with the decision.

To my surprise, a large portion of the council members agreed, but it wasn't enough... I needed one more vote, either from Felix or his roommate, who was also a member.

"Come on, everyone... Felix, I believe you don't forget that it was also your fault for what happened, right? Just so you know, I won't remove you from your position as secretary, so you don't have to worry about that..."

However, he refused to raise his hand... Anyway, his roommate, less courageous than him, raised his hand to the great surprise of those gathered at the meeting. Now everything was decided: Emily was no longer part of the Academy council.

At the end of the meeting, I waited in the room until the last member left, then I started searching for one of the books I needed for a project. To my surprise, Felix hadn't left yet, so I had to understand what he wanted from me.

"Felix, do you need my help?"

"Maurice, you're a demon... Why did you do this?"

"Why? Because the majority of the council members didn't agree with Emily's presence among us..."

"I don't believe this nonsense. You know better than anyone that's not the reason, right?"

"If you don't believe me, it's your problem... Well, I'll go back to my room... Anyway, I have some things to take care of, so-"

Wait, this can't be... Why is the door locked? I hope this guy doesn't intend to harm me, right?

"F-Felix, I think it would be better if you unlock the door, right?"

"No... If you want me to unlock the door, you need to tell me the reason you kicked Emily out of the council."

"Well, don't forget that I have a key to this door too, alright?"

"Wait, please... Tell me the truth!"

As I kept trying to pass him to exit the room, Felix pushed me into the table, and I fell, with him falling on top of me... Although I enjoyed the image, I hit my back so hard on the edge of the table that I couldn't breathe for a few moments. Jonathan, seeing that I wasn't able to leave and the door was locked, unlocked it and lifted Felix off me forcefully.

"J-Jonathan, I didn't mean-"

"Do you dare to do something like this? Aren't you afraid of what might happen if you hurt Maurice?"

"Jonathan, calm down... It's nothing... Just a simple hit, so it's not important..."

"How can it not be important? If something like this happens again, I swear I won't stand idly by..."

"Oh, come on, Jonathan. It's not like you can do anything if I don't agree, right?"

"Maurice... Is it true?"

"It's none of your business... Now come on... I have nothing else to do here. And Felix, never dare to try something like this again, okay?"

Alright... It seems that in the end, nothing can predict what will happen after all... I'm still thinking about some things. What if I can change this story? I can never understand why these things happen.

I still think that if everything was fine, I could have stayed with my brother, my mother, and maybe even my crush Peter, my brother's colleague from South Korea. Anyway, I don't care what will happen from now on... I just want to go back home and continue my life peacefully with my family...

I think I've made a very dangerous enemy. Everyone knows that I'm a pretty honest and sociable guy, so I don't want to become someone else in the eyes of my colleagues.

"Felix outdid himself today... I will never be able to do something that satisfies me... I want to be alone, so leave me alone, Jonathan."

"I won't leave you, Maurice... You've never been in a situation like this before. Are you sure you had to kick Emily out of the council?"

"Yes... I'm sure about that. Now leave me... I should be thanked for not talking to Grandma to have her expelled..."

"Maurice, leave your grandmother alone... I know how much she cares about you, but you can't be so dependent on her all the time..."

"Oh, my God... If you need someone to talk to, go and talk to Marcus, alright?"

I don't need anything from anyone anymore. I'm too sad that I ended up in this boring story... I never want to stay in this story again. No one would want to stay in this story... Anyway, I think it's best to rest and then see what to do next...

I took a nap for an hour, then continued with my daily activities... Honestly, I could use something to distract me from my troubles.

"Your Highness, can you help us with something?" some colleagues asked me.

"Sure... What's it about?"

"Could you come with us to a football match? We want to go, and we need one more member."

"Hmm, sounds good... Honestly, I could use something to disconnect from all my problems..."

"Alright... Attacker or defender?"

Well, I never liked football when I was in my world, but my brother usually told me certain things... If you want to play defense in football, it usually means you're passive, and if you want to be an attacker, it means you're active... So...

"I think I would be good at attacking, although I haven't played football in a long time..."

"Alright, here's the equipment, and we'll see you on the field in a few minutes, okay?"

It seems like I have other things to do today. Anyway, I need moments like this to take my mind off my problems... To my surprise, one of the members of the opposing team was actually... Felix?

The match started... I played with an uncontrollable fury because of the jealousy I had towards Emily for taking Felix away from me, and I scored 2 goals in 10 minutes. My teammates were overjoyed when the score was 2-0 in our favor... Everything was going well until an accident happened when I was about to score another goal... Well, I can say that in a second, Felix was on top of me... Twice in one day...
