"You... You're a human."
What made Shadow confused was that Mikael, on the report he received, wasn't the same person who was in front of him. No human can survive in such a harsh environment with just thin clothing. And that was exactly what Shadow saw in front of him, Mikael was wearing a simple thin black robe and pants, with his hair loose, and there was not a single speck of snow on him.
And lastly, Shadow felt that someone in front of him was breathing. He also heard his blood flowing and his heart beating, this greatly surprised him. He didn't expect that this man in front of him was just a human.
Mikael smiled at that statement. He let out a heavy breath and stood up. The Daggers immediately became aware of his movements, and they were about to engage in battle with him, but Shadow gestured for them to stop.
Mikael turned around to face them, placing his hand behind his back. He no longer smiled at them; instead, he stared at them with a cold gaze. Shadow, his companions, and the woman with the crow mask immediately shivered at his gaze, feeling as if their bodies were frozen solid and unable to move at all.
'What a terrifying man,' Shadow thought, clenching his teeth as he tried to fight the pressure he felt from Mikael.
Shadow had never felt something like this since he met the organization's leader, Sir First. At that time, he was chosen as the leader of the Daggers and had a chance to meet the man he swore to serve eternally. Although only a couple of minutes, Shadow would never forget the pressure he felt when he met him for the rest of his eternal life.
Until he met Mikael, the man who emitted a more terrifying aura than the leader of the organization, he was aware that no man could have such an aura unless they had killed hundreds of thousands of people. It was impossible for a human to do such a thing unless they were a vampire, and a very old one at that, just like Sir First.
"Tell me, why have you come?" Mikael said with a calm yet heavy tone, while staring at Shadow.
"We... We would like to... have a... talk... with... you..." Shadow said with great difficulty, as he was still enduring the pressure from Mikael.
Mikael went silent for a minute before he said, "Very well, just get to the point."
Mikael retracted his killing intent, and immediately the pressure that had been bearing down on Shadow and his members dissipated. However, some of the weaker members immediately collapsed to the ground, leaving only a dozen of them remaining. Surprisingly, the woman with the crow mask was still barely managing to hold on herself.
While Shadow, the most experienced out of all of them, immediately regained his bearings and said, "We would like you to join our organization."
Mikael's eyebrow twitched at this. At first, he expected them to attack him the moment they approached him. But he didn't expect them to request to talk to him, and now they even wanted him to join them.
Mikael suddenly became curious about this. It was because these people did not appear anywhere in the original Twilight movies he had watched in his past life. He did not recognize the faces of these people in those movies, so he decided to gather more information from them.
"Organization?"
Shadow nodded and said, "Yes, our organization, The Nocturnals."
'The Nocturnals?' Mikael's curiosity increased just because of this. He then said, "I've never heard of it."
When Shadow heard that Mikael didn't know about their organization, Shadow felt relieved for a moment and said, "It was because we were hidden and we always work in the dark. We never expose ourselves, and even if we're exposed, we'd rather kill ourselves than expose our organization. We were created to bring order to our world."
'Wasn't it the Volturi who supposedly maintained order in their world? Why is it suddenly this unknown organization that holds the order?' Mikael thought, confused.
"How old is your organization?"
Shadow didn't answer this question directly because he knew that Mikael was trying to obtain information about them. Instead, he said, "Join us, and you'll know everything we know."
Mikael didn't beat around the bush and immediately said, "No."
Shadow frowned at this. He knew that Mikael would refuse, and he also felt that something was wrong, so he immediately shouted, "Get into formation!"
The members of the Daggers, who had just regained consciousness, quickly surrounded Mikael. Within thirty seconds, using their supernatural speed, they encircled Mikael from every direction, leaving him with no opportunity to escape.
Meanwhile, the woman with the crow mask immediately left the area because she had just received an order from the device in her hand, instructing her to return. So, while the Daggers were engaging with Mikael, she took the opportunity to leave.
"I give you one last chance! Join us!" Shadow said with full confidence, as he saw that Mikael was surrounded and had nowhere to go.
Mikael just smiled and glanced around at the vampires surrounding him with amusement and thought, 'The Nocturnals, huh? I'll keep that in mind.'
Mikael then fixed his gaze on Shadow and said, "And I'll give you a chance to tell me everything you know, and I'll let you go."
Shadow stared at Mikael with a mocking gaze and said, "I never believed it when they said humans would become crazy at death's door. But now, it seems that they're right."
Mikael didn't pay any attention to his mocking and picked up his sword from the ground. This time, Josh, who was standing beside Shadow and saw what Mikael just did, said in a mocking tone, "What are you going to do with that stick? No amount of weapons can hurt us."
The other members who heard this started laughing, while some of them just cautiously watched Mikael lifting up the sword. Shadow, who was also watching him pick up the sword, was about to say something, but something unexpected happened.
*Slash*
The atmosphere immediately became silent. Josh, who had been laughing before, suddenly had a terrified look on his face.
"B-Boss..."
Shadow glanced beside him and immediately had a surprised expression on his face. It was because there was a smooth line from the top to bottom of Josh's body. He went to touch him, but before he could do that, Josh suddenly stiffened, and Shadow saw the terrified look on Josh's face.
*CRACK*
*RUMBLE*
Josh's body immediately split in two and collapsed onto the ground. Shadow regained his composure and stared at Mikael in front of him, who was smiling while holding a sword in his right hand and his left hand behind his back.
