Chapter 56 - CHAPTER 56

(Third POV)

Mikael released his concealment technique and appeared directly in front of her, blocking her path. He didn't say anything and just stared at her with his eyes, which were full of curiosity.

After a full minute of staring, Mikael finally said something, "Tell me every-"

But before he could even finish his words, the woman suddenly turned away from him and started running with a panicked expression on her face, and multiple thoughts appeared in her mind, 'What happened to the Daggers? Why is he here? How?'

Watching her running figure swiftly fade into the distance, Mikael couldn't help but shake his head in amusement. He executed his footwork technique once again and leapt into the air. With just a glance, Mikael had already locked onto her running figure.

Mikael didn't really fly as he has no wings. The reason he can stand or hover in the air is because of his footwork, also known as "Qigong" in Murim in his previous life. Just the basics of Qigong can make someone run as fast as a cheetah, let alone Mikael, who had mastered multiple Qigong techniques and combined them. Creating his own Qigong and having it perfected, it allows him to "fly," and his technique has no restrictions. He can go as high as the atmosphere if he wants to and move as fast as a shooting star.

With his footwork, Mikael had already arrived above her again and he intercepted her right in front of her. The woman, who wasn't looking straight ahead, crashed into Mikael, but it was she who fell to the ground and not Mikael.

Mikael stared at her and thought to himself, 'A crow mask and some kind of crow emblem or symbol on her arms. The group I fought before has a dagger emblem.'

"Curious..." Mikael muttered as he approached the woman who had just regained consciousness. She was about to run again, but Mikael quickly stopped her by gripping her neck with his left arm and lifting her off the ground.

The woman had a panicked expression on her face and started struggling in his arms. She scratched his arm, punched his face, and kicked his stomach, but nothing seemed to work. It was as if she was hitting the toughest material on earth; it left no mark or scratch on Mikael's body.

Mikael lightly tightened his grip on her neck, just enough to calm her down. The woman immediately stopped resisting, and then Mikael took off her crow mask. He glanced at it for a second and threw it to the ground.

He then loosened his grip and turned his gaze to the woman who was staring at him with eyes filled with hatred, hopelessness, and fear. Mikael stared into her eyes with a cold gaze and smiled.

"Ahh, I recognize those eyes... Fear... Hatred... an unwillingness to submit," As the Heavenly Demon, feared by the entire world of Murim, Mikael was, of course, familiar with her gaze.

"W-Who are y-you..." the woman said with a low voice, and her tone was filled with despair.

Mikael chuckled at her and said, "Me? Am I not the one you're looking for?"

When the woman was about to say something again, Mikael tightened his grip once more and said with a cold voice, "Now choose, tell me everything you know, and I'll let you live, or stay silent and you'll never see the sun again."

Without hesitation, she said, "P-Please..."

Mikael smiled and let go of his hand from her neck, and she fell to the ground with a shocked expression. She intended to run again if she managed to trick him, but the moment she was about to stand up, she couldn't feel her body at all.

Mikael ignored her shocked and despairing gaze and said, "Now, talk. What is the name of your organization?"

The reason he asked this after knowing the name of the organization from the deceased leader of the Daggers beforehand was to confirm whether they were telling the truth or not.

With a hopeless and reluctant expression on her face, she made a crucial decision to save her life and said, "T-The Nocturnals."

Mikael nodded and asked, "What is the purpose of your organization?"

"To bring order to our world."

Mikael chuckled at that and asked again, "What is the meaning of the dagger symbol from the group before and the crow symbol on your arm?"

"It was an emblem, an emblem of our divisions," the woman answered.

"Divisions?"

The woman nodded at Mikael and continued, "Yes, our organization had three divisions: The Blades, The Daggers, and The Eyes. Each of them had a different task assigned by the organization. Mine was The Eyes, bearing the crow emblem."

"What is the task of the Eyes, and what is your position?" Mikael asked.

"Our division was responsible for reconnaissance, and I was just a low-ranking member with a useless gift," the woman answered with a hint of sadness in her voice.

Mikael didn't care about her remark and asked again, "What are the other divisions tasked with?"

"I have no idea about the in-depth responsibilities of the other divisions, but all I can tell you is that the Daggers were responsible for assassinations, and the Blades were responsible for keeping the covens in check."

"Interesting," Mikael muttered, his tone filled with curiosity.

Mikael then asked again, "Where are the organization's headquarters?"

"I-I don't know the exact location, but I heard that they are all over the world," the woman answered anxiously, fearing that he might not be satisfied with the answers she gave him.

Mikael just nodded and said, "One last thing, who is the leader of your organization?"

Hearing the question, her face was instantly filled with expressions of fear. She then said, "I-I have never met them."

"Them?"

"Y-Yes, our organization was led by multiple individuals, but I don't know the exact number," the woman answered, stuttering.

Mikael nodded in understanding and approached her. The woman immediately became scared and closed her eyes, waiting for her end. But after a few seconds, nothing happened. She opened her eyes and realized that no one was there.

She rubbed her eyes in puzzlement and, after confirming that Mikael was nowhere to be seen, a look of relief appeared on her face. She had a smile on her face as she could feel her entire body again, but she immediately became confused because her camera was gone. She had a panicked expression for a moment and then went in a certain direction.

Meanwhile, Mikael could only shake his head. In fact, Mikael hovered above her the entire time and also cast his concealment technique. He watched the disappearing figure of the woman and muttered, "I hope you won't disappoint me."

Indeed, Mikael had exerted his signature energy on her when he gripped her neck earlier. Mikael then turned his gaze towards the camera in his hand and inspected it with an amazed expression.

"Hmm? Is this live?" Mikael stared at the red dot in the bottom corner of the camera screen. He was about to say something to whoever was watching this spectacle, but the camera suddenly emitted a beeping sound.

*BEEP* x4

The device suddenly turned off on its own and is emitting smoke, but it didn't affect Mikael at all as he was fine. Mikael sighed in disappointment and muttered, "I thought these vampires only relied on their gift. I didn't expect them to be good at technology as well."

Mikael crushed the device in his hand and gazed at the moon that majestically hung in the sky.

"Twilight, yet not twilight. Truly an exciting world..."
