I took a big whiff as the kitchen filled with the delicious aroma of lasagna baking inside the oven. The scent of simmering meat, melted cheese, and fragrant herbs wafted through the air, making my mouth water in anticipation. I couldn't help but smile with anticipation.
Dahlia was busy organizing the counter, putting away leftover ingredients while humming a soft tune.
"Do you think it's ready yet?" I asked, glancing over at the oven. The timer still had a few minutes to go, but I could hardly contain my excitement.
"Not quite yet," Dahlia replied, wiping her hands on a dish towel. "But it should be any minute now! Ya can tell when it's done by the way the cheese gets all bubbly and golden."
I watched her as she moved around the kitchen, admiring her confidence and skill. "You make it look so easy," I said. "I don't know how you do it."
