Chapter 26 - The Training Begins

Upon their return home, Chuck promptly checked on his son in his room before visiting his grandfather to update him on the day's events and ensure his wellbeing. Once Chuck confirmed that his son was safe and content playing with his toys, he proceeded to his grandfather's room.

Seeing his grandson safe brought Mr. Miller relief, despite his understanding that Chuck's bodyguards ensured his protection. Nevertheless, a paternal worry for his grandson lingered.

Chuck recounted the day's incidents to his grandfather and expressed his gratitude for the timely intervention of the bodyguards. "It's alright, my child," the elder reassured him. "They are here to ensure everyone's safety and were merely fulfilling their duties."

"How was your dinner with Sandra before the interruption?" Mr. Miller inquired, hoping the unexpected events had not marred Chuck's evening. "It went well, grandpa," Chuck replied. "Though we were interrupted, I managed to win Sandra's heart before Louis and Allison arrived." "Congratulations, my child. I wish you all the best with Sandra and trust you will treat her with kindness," the grandfather encouraged. "Thank you, Grandpa. You can be assured that I will take good care of her."

"Tomorrow, you will commence your physical training. Are you prepared, my child?" the grandfather asked. "Yes, Grandpa, I am very ready. I plan to start early in the morning, and later in the afternoon I will check on Sandra. The attackers might attempt to reach her in my absence." "That's wise. You should coordinate with the bodyguards to arrange the timing," his grandfather responded. Chuck then left the room to allow his grandfather some rest, as it was already late.

Before heading to his own room, Chuck briefed the bodyguards on his plans for the following day, specifying the time for his training session. After concluding the discussion, he released them and went upstairs to his room. After taking a shower, he settled into bed. However, before drifting off to sleep, he picked up his phone and dialed Sandra's number. The call connected shortly thereafter.

"Good evening, Chuck," Sandra greeted warmly.

"Hello, Sandra. I thought you had fallen asleep," Chuck responded.

"How could I sleep without hearing from you? Did you arrive home safely?" Sandra inquired.

"Yes, I made it home safe, although we were ambushed on the way. Thankfully, my grandfather's bodyguards arrived just in time to take control of the situation," Chuck explained.

"Are you alright?" Sandra asked, her voice filled with concern upon hearing about the attack.

Chuck reassured her, "I'm fine. I wasn't hurt. The attack was initiated by Louis and his associates, who are now all gone except for Louis and Allison. I am confident they won't attempt anything like that again."

He then reminded Sandra that he would be arriving late to work the next day. "But don't worry; I'll be in the office before you even realize I'm missing."

"How could I not notice your absence, Chuck? I miss you already," she replied.

"I miss you too, Sandra," he affirmed.

After approximately thirty minutes of conversation, they exchanged goodnight wishes before the call ended. Chuck reflected, "How fortunate I am to have Sandra as my girlfriend," a smile creeping onto his face.

The next morning, Chuck awoke, refreshed, and prepared himself for the day ahead. Upon descending the stairs, he found the bodyguards already waiting for him. After greeting them, they led him to the basement of the villa. Chuck was astounded to discover that the villa had a basement, which was fully equipped with training facilities—a well-appointed gymnasium.

As soon as they arrived, they wasted no time and began their training session immediately.

The training progressed smoothly, and Chuck's prior morning jogging routine ensured he was already in good physical shape. This gave him an advantage, as the training involved various exercises. They continued their session until 10 AM, at which point the bodyguards allowed Chuck a brief break. He gratefully accepted a cold bottle of water, which helped to soothe his parched throat.

After a few minutes of relaxation and hydration, Chuck was ready to resume the next round of training. Fortunately, he had begun to master several techniques. If he were to face a lower-level opponent, he now felt capable of defending himself or even securing a victory. The training was certainly proving beneficial, despite his growing fatigue.

The training continued until it was time to assess Chuck's progress. One of the bodyguards charged at him, and upon reaching his position, began delivering a series of punches. Chuck effectively blocked the incoming strikes and managed to counter with several punches of his own, successfully landing hits on the bodyguard.

The training session concluded around 1:30 PM, at which point Chuck informed the bodyguards that they would need to resume their training the following day, as he had to attend to lunch and subsequently head to the office. The bodyguards made their way to their quarters to shower, while Chuck returned to the villa. Although he was quite hungry, he first checked on his son and grandfather before proceeding to the dining room for his meal.

Once he finished his lunch, Chuck went to his room, took a shower, and left once he was ready. In the dining room, he noticed his grandfather dining with Nick. After bidding them farewell, he headed to the parking garage, where his driver and two bodyguards were waiting for him.

Upon getting into the car, they departed the premises. During their journey to the office, Chuck instructed the driver to stop at a restaurant where he needed to purchase a packed lunch for Sandra. After acquiring the food, he returned to the car, and they continued on their way.
