Old Master Black coughed and kicked Jane Sampson under the table.
Waiting for Jane's languid, deeply conflicted gaze to meet his, Old Master Black knew the act couldn't possibly go on.

"Just out of the oven, be careful, it's a bit hot while peeling."
Then during this lunch, Old Master Black watched as Jane was joyfully fed by James, who didn't even eat himself but peeled an entire portion of crayfish and personally delivered it to his wife's mouth, earning him countless happy smiles all afternoon.
