The room was silent and tranquil.
Alexander Summers stared blankly at Purple Summers, as if turned to stone, motionless.
Purple had only intended to tease him, but seeing his reaction made her feel guilty and slightly uneasy. She averted her face and said awkwardly, "I was just joking..."
The stiff air finally relaxed with her words.
Alexander propped himself up and lay down beside her, his palm naturally coming to rest on her belly as he asked, "When did you find out?"
Purple twisted her body uncomfortably, "I really was just joking..."
"Joking?" Alexander gazed at her distrustfully, "Did you have your period this month?"
"No, but it should be soon..." Purple whispered, "Either today or tomorrow."
Both of them fell silent.
Purple was silent out of guilt, while Alexander was scrutinizing her, suspicious of the changes in her expression.
