As they were chatting, Purple Summers's phone rang, showing a call from Mrs. Jameson.
"It's your mom," Purple said, lifting her phone for Zara to see.
Zara curled her lips into a wry smile.
Purple answered the call, and Mrs. Jameson asked on the other end, "Purple, is Zara at your place?"
"She is," Purple glanced at Zara, "We just finished eating. Now we're enjoying some tea, and we plan to go out later. Don't worry too much."
"She said she wanted to go out for some air, and we were all worried. Knowing she's with you puts us at ease," Mrs. Jameson said. "We're not forcing her to give up the baby, just hoping she'll think it over more, because... this is no trivial matter. Once the baby is born, life will change significantly. If she has thought it all through, we will respect her choice."
Purple felt that it must have been very difficult for Mrs. Jameson to say these words.
