Chapter Five
The sound was getting closer, and Sofia Hamilton felt a surge of panic, wanting to gather her hair up quickly. Still, the door was opened by Samantha Wood. She frantically grabbed her hair and hid it behind her back, a look of sheer panic on her face as if she suffered a guilty conscience, her heart beating so fast it felt like it was about to leap out of her chest.
Samantha Wood looked at her with a touch of confusion, especially about what she was holding in her hand—which seemed to be something.
She smiled, "Why are you just standing here?"
"I... I was just washing my hands," she stammered, clearly flustered.
Luckily, Samantha Wood simply smiled lightly and didn't press further, "Then I'll wait for you outside."
"Okay."
Sofia Hamilton forced a smile, watching as Samantha Wood turned and left before she finally breathed a sigh of relief.
Opening her palm, she was still tightly clutching those few strands of hair.
