Mrs. Johnson's expression turned ugly when she heard the words. She stared at Amanda Smith's back for a while before disdainfully muttering under her breath, "She's spoiled!"
She was no fool. How could she not know the real reason why Amanda Smith ate alone in her room?
She despised her, and even more, she despised herself! Without Samuel Johnson, who would want to dine with her?
"Let's have dinner!"
With a swish of her sleeves and an unfriendly face, Mrs. Johnson spoke to the servants, her high heels clacking resoundingly.

"Miss Amanda, dinner has been served, please open the door!"
When Amanda Smith heard the servant's voice outside her door, she walked over and opened it.
She had just taken a bath, her body still steaming hot. She wiped her hair with a dry towel as she spoke to the servant with a smile, "Just put the food on the coffee table."
"Miss Amanda, let me blow-dry your hair for you. It's troublesome to dry the back on your own."
