The household servants had been taken away by Mrs. Johnson, leaving the grand hall exceptionally quiet, so quiet that it seemed as if one could clearly hear the sound of dust settling on the floor.
She rested for a while when suddenly her phone rang. Picking it up, she saw it was a call from Grace Murdock.
"Amanda, did you just get your message today? Are you okay?"
The concerned voice of Grace Murdock came from the phone.
"I'm fine." Amanda smiled, "Sorry to worry you."
"It's good to hear you're alright." Grace Murdock let out a sigh of relief and then said to Amanda, "The documents you asked me to arrange are ready. When will you come to pick them up?"
"…Tomorrow, I guess."
"…Amanda, are you really going to do this?" Grace Murdock asked a bit anxiously, "Isn't this...a bit too heartless?"
Heartless?
Amanda smiled blankly.
How could this be considered heartless?
She didn't want to do anything; she just wanted to escape, far away.
