Amanda Smith watched Lily's drooping eyes, a sense of indelible sorrow welling up inside her.
Back then, she had fled Priocia in a fit of stubborn impulsiveness, wandering for a year before giving birth to Lily in this small town.
When Lily was very young, she too had asked what her daddy was like and would stare longingly at other families of three enjoying outings together; though Amanda knew Lily didn't mention it, she was surely envious inside.
She could only do her utmost to give Lily the things she wanted; apart from a father's love, she had poured nearly all the maternal love she could imagine into her daughter.
