"Alright, let's stop talking about this," Grace Murdock patted Amanda Smith's shoulder, speaking softly, "Amanda, how have you been these past few years?"
Amanda Smith nodded, "The first year was a blur, but after Lily came along, things settled down..."
Mentioning her daughter brought a smile to her face, "If it wasn't for Lily, I really wouldn't know how to get through these years..."
People need something to hold onto; when a heart has nowhere to belong, it was the arrival of Lily Smith that allowed her to pick herself back up.
Grace Murdock smiled and nodded, "Lily is a good child."
Not far away, Lily Smith was ordering Hadley to peel shrimp for her. She was in charge of eating, while Hadley was responsible for peeling. Grace Murdock looked over and even complimented her son, saying how he had grown up and become sensible. Hadley peeled the shrimp, seething in silence, glumly watching Lily devour the shrimp he had painstakingly prepared.
