In the evening, Amanda Smith deliberately waited until Samuel Johnson had returned home before starting dinner.
As usual, the man still had a look of weariness. Upon seeing Amanda still at the dining table, a flicker of surprise crossed his face.
"Let's eat,"
Amanda handed him the chopsticks and gave him a smile.
Samuel, flattered though bewildered, took the chopsticks and shoveled a few mouthfuls of rice, feeling that Amanda was a bit odd today. He glanced at her unconsciously and caught her looking back at him.
Startled, he quickly averted his gaze.
During the meal, Samuel felt Amanda's gaze fixed on him. For the first time, he felt such immense pressure from someone's stare that he almost broke into a cold sweat.
What on earth was happening?
Amanda today was surely too gentle...
Watching Amanda serve him his favorite dishes, Samuel felt both delighted and uneasy, hardly able to focus on his meal.
