Amanda Smith was taken aback.
"So that time..." Amanda Smith recalled the argument she had with Samuel Johnson when he wouldn't let her go out to work.
She started to understand how Samuel must have felt back then.
"Yes..." Samuel Johnson hugged her and murmured heavily, "It wasn't that I wanted to stop you, I just had an episode. I don't know how to describe it to you... I knew it was wrong, and my reason understood it wasn't right to confine you, but I couldn't control my actions. I was afraid to let you out of my sight, afraid to let you away from me for even a second, afraid you would leave."
Amanda Smith looked up, seeing the man's gloomy expression, touched his face with a bit of heartache, and whispered softly, "Then, for now, I won't look for work. Shall I stay with you to help you get treated?"
"No," Samuel Johnson declined, gazing at her seriously, "I need to be away from you for a while. Amanda, I might hurt you."
