Agastya was shocked to hear that. His mind went blank for a second. He couldn't hear anything, and his vision slowly blurred due to the tears welling up in his eyes.
Ahalya: "Agastya... Agastya... do you hear me?"
She was patting his shoulder and calling him gently.
Suddenly, Agastya came back to his senses and said,
Agastya: "Sorry! I have to leave now. I have some urgent work pending."
Ahalya: "Okay… stay here tonight. You can leave early in the morning."
Agastya: "No Ahalya… it's important work. I have to leave... please!"
Anasuya: "It's already dark, son. How can I let you go now? Stay here tonight, have some fun, and leave in the morning."
Agastya: "Aunty..."
Advik: "No more arguments. That's enough… You're staying, and that's final."
Agastya: "Okay fine…" (he agreed in a low voice)
Agastya became very dull after hearing the news. He was not able to control his tears.
After some time, the three of them went to the backyard of Ahalya's house, where they lit a fire camp since it was very cold outside.
There were three chairs near the fire. Ahalya and Advik sat together, while Agastya sat in front of them.
He composed himself and put on a fake smile.
Agastya: "Okay… then tell me your story. How did you guys meet?"
Ahalya: "Ahh..." (she dragged her voice)
Advik placed his hand on hers. Ahalya looked at him, and he nodded. Agastya noticed it all.
Advik(looking into her eyes): "I met her at the hospital."
Agastya: "What?"
Advik: "Yes... it was love at first sight."
Advik slowly drifted into the flashback.
Two Years Ago
Advik: "I had a small accident. My leg was slightly injured, and I had some scratches on my body, nothing serious. I went to the hospital to get bandaged. I was about to leave after the treatment when I heard a commotion in the opposite ward. It was an emergency, and O-negative blood was urgently needed. Coincidentally, I also have O-negative blood. So I asked the nurse, 'Can I donate my blood?' Initially, she refused because I was also injured, but I convinced her as it was an emergency."
As Advik had minor injuries, he dozed off after donating blood.
After some time, he slowly opened his eyes and remembered he had donated blood. He then saw two people standing in front of him.
Them: "Thank you so much, son. We owe you. Thank you for saving our daughter's life." (They said with happy yet teary eyes.)
They were Ahalya's parents.
Advik: "We humans are here to help each other. Don't worry, aunty and uncle. Your daughter will be fine."
Suddenly, a nurse came running from Ahalya's room shouting,
Nurse: "Doctor! Doctor!"
Ahalya's parents were shocked and rushed to her room. The doctor came running and asked them to wait outside.
After some time, everything was back to normal. The doctor came out.
Her parents: "Doctor, how is she?"
It was Dr. Shilpa—yes, the same doctor as Agastya's.
Dr. Shilpa: "Everything is normal… but currently, Ahalya is not responding to the medication. If this continues, we may not be able to do anything."
Hearing this, her parents broke down and started crying. Advik overheard everything.
The next morning, Ahalya received some flowers with a note. Her mother brought them near her and said,
Anasuya: "Okay, let me read this to you. It says, 'Hang in there. I know the strength you have.'"
A tear fell from Anasuya's eyes onto the note. Though Ahalya couldn't respond, tears ran down her cheeks. Her mother kept the note in a safe place.
The next day, she received flowers again, with a note saying, "Tough times don't last, tough people do."
It became a routine—flowers and notes every day. But they were from an unknown sender. Even her parents didn't know who was sending them.
They didn't bother finding out because Ahalya was recovering quickly—thanks to those messages and flowers.
Nearly a year passed, and one fine day, Ahalya slowly opened her eyes and saw her parents.
Her parents: "Ahalya!" (They cried out in joy.)
Ahalya: "Who are you both?"
Her parents were shocked and turned toward the doctor.
Dr. Shilpa: "We checked her reports. Due to severe head injury, she has lost all her memories."
Her parents: "What? Even about us?"
Dr. Shilpa: "Everything. Please treat her with love and care."
Just then, a man entered with a bouquet and a note. Everyone assumed he was the one sending the flowers—but he wasn't.
Dr. Shilpa took the note and said,
Dr. Shilpa: "Oh… I see. This is the medicine that cured her fast."
She read it out loud: "Congratulations on your new birth. Love you."
Everyone was shocked—but Ahalya started laughing loudly.
Anasuya: "Why… why are you laughing?"
Ahalya: "I don't know… When I heard this note, my heart started beating fast. It's like I've heard this before."
Anasuya looked at Shilpa.
Dr. Shilpa: "Even if she lost her memory, while in a coma her brain was still registering sounds and feelings. That's why her mind recalls these messages."
Ahalya: "Who sent these to me?"
She asked the man who brought the flowers.
Person: "He's not here now..."
He started to walk away, then suddenly turned back and handed her another note.
Ahalya opened it.
It read: "Don't worry. I'll meet you when you're completely fine."
Ahalya hadn't fully recovered yet—but the notes and flowers kept coming. They were like morning quotes that energized her.
After her full recovery, just as she was ready for discharge, she stopped receiving the flowers and notes. She became worried.
On the day of discharge, she returned home with her parents.
A note was stuck to the door. Ahalya saw it and ran toward it with joy.
She picked up the note—but it was blank. She turned it over. Still blank.
Disappointed, she turned back to tell her parents—when she saw someone standing behind her.
It was Advik, holding a bouquet and a teddy bear.
She ran toward him and hugged him tightly.
