Asher and I look at Jack waiting for him to tell us what's happening.
"Someone smelled the vampire's we're fine." The sirens stopped as I noticed a familiar-looking person coming towards us.
"Jack, you said you wanted to see me, sir?"
"Liam, yes I wanted to introduce you to Alexandra and Asher they'll be staying in the pack house for a little while." As soon as Jack said his name I knew exactly who he was. Lunamara's brother Liam Jones Blake. That's how he had gotten to me so fast.
"Nice to meet you, Alexandra and Asher. I'm Liam Jones."
"Nice to meet you as well Liam." I held my hand out for a handshake as soon as Liam made contact I heard Jack growl.
"Jack chill man." Asher is now trying to be a "cool guy" leaning against a tree as I turn my attention back to Jack.
"Why do I need to stay at the pack house I live next to you off pack grounds."
"I know but I'll feel better if you stay here." I raised my eyebrow I knew he was lying
"Bull, what's the real reason." He responded with a sigh and a slight shaking of his head. I turned to Asher as I motioned for him to see his memory. A moment later Asher's face paled and he collapsed to his knees.
"Jack that can't be true tell me it's not!" His voice was shaking with pain and anger as whatever he saw he couldn't believe it. I turned to look at Jack.
"Jack what did he see," i said but Liam responded.
"It was your mother's house the place is destroyed and she's missing." Now it was my turn to fall to my knees not believing what I just heard. Why would anyone take her? She's a human, just human unless they want her as bait. Liam cleared his throat.
"I believe I should get going now." Liam turned to walk away and I could feel my wolf trying to force a shift. I can feel Asher's distress in not knowing where Mom is. My wolf took over the next thing I knew I was in the woods running my large paws hitting the snow. Wait snow? I look up and I see a sign that says "Welcome to Wyoming" I stop and sat down.
'Alexandra!' Asher's voice rang in my head I ignored him.
'Alex! answer him.' Nica chimed in.
'What' I tried to keep my voice still but it shook.
'Where are you'
'Wyoming and heading back now'
I start to run south to get back to Jack's pack. Once I crossed the border Jack came to see me.
"Why the hell did you take off like that!?" I shifted back and dressed in black skinny jeans and a white tee.
"You should know better we can't have two people missing!"
"I don't know maybe because my mother is missing!" I could feel my eyes shift to the ice blue and the fear in his eyes gave it away. I sighed and walked to find Asher.
"Asher's not here." There was more kindness to his words.
"Where is he?"
"Your house looking at the damages." I took off running in my human form to get there I didn't shift because there were a lot of humans in that part of town. Once I arrived I could smell the blood before I saw it.
"Alex don't go in there." Asher came walking out looking irritated.
"It's my house and my stuff is in there." I walked in and the place was destroyed. The couch it was ripped to pieces, doors off their frames, pictures shattered, blood on the walls, and broken windows. I walked to my room to get my things for the pack house. I couldn't believe something like this could happen. Who could've done this? and why would they? I finished gathering the essentials in my suitcase as I went to my mom's room to grab the rings that she had never worn. I took a gold and silver ring with a diamond and a ruby heart, the second was my favorite a purple gold ring. I put them both on my fingers and walked out to Asher with my suitcase he didn't notice Mom's rings but he had also never seen them before. We walked back to the pack house in silence Jack was there waiting.
"Alexandra, Asher please follow me ill show you to your rooms." he started walking to the elevator and took us to the 5th floor. We walked to 3 doors, 2 on the right and one on the left.
"Alexandra this is your room." he motioned to the door on the right.
"Asher this is your room." he motioned to the door on the left.
"Who's room is that?" I pointed to the other room on the right.
"Mine," Jack responded with a blank tone as I looked at Asher.
'I guess he likes what is in a close area.' he had a stupid smile on his face.
'That includes you.' I enter my room to unpack leaving the guys in the hall. once I'm done unpacking I turn my radio volume to 20 and play The Night We Met. I heard a knock on my door and chose to ignore it. I started to sing and dance to the song with my eyes closed trying not to cry. I felt arms wrap themselves around my waist and from the sparks from them I'm guessing it was Jack. I could feel him leaning against me, humming to it. We stayed like that slow dancing together and I'm hating myself for letting him have another chance. I think he can understand why I'm listening to this song.
"Jack?"
"Hmm?"
"Why are you doing this?"
"What?"
"Being nice? acting like you understand my pain?"
"Well, I became Alpha when I was 16. My mother died in a fight against vampires and witches and when she died my father was so overwhelmed with the pain of losing her, he lost his life as well so i do understand your pain. I act like an asshole so I don't get hurt again."
"Jack?"
"Hmm?"
"Thank you."
"For?"
"Everything."
