Chapter 49 - Chapter 46: Token

As soon as Oriel academy and Astra academy register 100 students, they left decisively.

Since the requirement for registering in both the academy are quite strict, when the student does not get the qualification, they came towards Evigheden academy to register and the Evigheden academy simply gave them admission—it looks as if Evigheden academy is a scrap collector .

Students also soon fill up Evigeheden academy at rapid speed --after all, they accept anyone.

Yuna also saw the three siblings, they register in Evigheden academy and looks quite happy meeting her and being able to attend the same academy as her.

Yuna just nods her head at them before withdrawing her gaze.

The eldest of the three siblings seems to want to say something to her but decided against it and left after greeting her.

The registration pavilion was still buzzing, but the process itself had already begun to wind down. The once long lines had thinned to only a few final names being recorded. A large wooden board was raised near the entrance, now displaying a single dreaded word:

FULL.

No more admissions. No more chances.

Other students continue to come but they were no longer given admission, their expression full of unwillingness.

Yuna sighed, adjusting her clothes. She wasn't too concerned about her own position—she had passed easily—but she found herself lingering, watching the different types of students who had made it through.

She like joining this kind of commotion where she is already safe and passed!

She can also say she loves lightning and like to admire it because she is in the safe comfort of home. If she were outside during thunder and lightning, she will be terrified of it, but once she is at home, she is bold and can declare she loves it.

Human are such creatures, they love witnessing things when they are at a safe zone and say they love it only when they are not in immediate danger or are not them who experience it

Then, a low, wet scraping sound caught her attention.

A student was crawling toward them.

His clothes was torn beyond recognition, the fabric soaked in mud and blood. His hands trembled against the ground as he pulled himself forward, his left leg dragging uselessly behind him. Gashes ran across his arms and face, and his breaths were ragged—shallow and weak.

Gasps rippled through the remaining people who are no longer eligible for admission.

"Wait, isn't that—?"

"How is he still moving?!"

"He should be dead with that much bleeding and wound"

The boy gritted his teeth and forced himself up on one knee. His bloodied fingers clutched at the registration table, where a lone teacher sat behind a stack of parchment.

The teacher barely reacted.

He sat slouched in his chair, arms crossed, his expression bored beyond belief. His dark robes were slightly wrinkled, and his half-lidded eyes barely lifted to acknowledge the dying student in front of him.

The student struggled to speak, his lips cracked and dry. "P-Please… I completed the forest trial… I—I should be eligible—"

The teacher finally blinked and exhaled slowly, as if this entire conversation was a chore. Without a word, he lifted his hand and pointed lazily at the registration board.

The student followed his gaze, his expression falling when he saw the dreaded word:

FULL.

A heavy silence settled.

The injured student's mouth opened and closed, his exhausted mind struggling to process what this meant. He had survived. He had fought his way here. And now… they wouldn't even let him in?

He started to shake. "No… no, no, no—there must be—"

His arms gave out. He collapsed onto the wooden floor with a heavy thud, gasping for breath.

Some people turned away, unable to watch. Others muttered amongst themselves, pitying but unwilling to interfere. They are also no longer eligible, there is no way they will speak up for others.

But then—

A small silver token hit the desk.

The sound was quiet, but in that moment, it might as well have been a war drum.

All eyes turned to Yuna.

She stood before the desk, arms crossed, her cool gaze steady as she looked at the bleeding teen.

"Can this be used for an extra slot?" she asked, she was testing. This child look quite miserable, his perseverance— Yuna admire it greatly. She almost wants to shed tears at such tenacity, the kind of tenacity she lacks.

He looks like the side characters who struggled, appearing briefly on a novel eliciting admiration and pity from the readers. Sometimes, they received a helping hand from their long struggle but most time, to twist a knife at reader heart; they are not saved and given redemption.

It'll be good if Yuna could achieve that few helping hands. It would be such a pity if it can't.

The teacher, who had barely moved an inch since the beginning of registration, finally looked interested.

His half-lidded eyes flickered to the token. The engraved insignia glinted under the light—a personal mark of one of the academy's Grandmasters.

The air shifted.

Some students stared in shock. Others gaped.

"A personal recommendation token?!"

"Where did she get that?"

Even noble children of high standing could not get it even if they want to.

The teacher reached for the token with leisurely ease, lifting it between his fingers and tilting it slightly as if making sure it wasn't a cheap forgery.

Then, without a word, he let out a long, bored sigh—and with the same lackadaisical energy, he picked up his quill.

With an almost insulting amount of slowness, he scratched out the word FULL from the board.

The crowd erupted.

"W-Wait! That's allowed?!"

"He's making an exception? Just like that?!"

"Who the hell is that girl?!"

Yuna ignored the noise and glanced at the injured student, who was still barely conscious. She crouched down, her voice calm but steady.

"You're in," she said. Good. Tragedy avoided! Another reader fantasy fulfilled!

The boy's breath hitched, his glazed-over eyes widening.

"I…" He swallowed hard, his body barely holding together, but a spark of determination flickered beneath the pain. He clenched his fists and forced his head to bow.

"Th-Thank you…!"

The teacher, meanwhile, yawned.

"Done," he muttered, scribbling the boy's name onto the registry.

Yuna turned to him, raising an eyebrow. "That's it?"

The teacher leaned back in his chair, resting his cheek on one hand. "I don't ask questions," he said flatly. "If someone with authority over me says 'make space,' I make space. Less work for me."

The sheer nonchalance in his tone was almost insulting. Yuna almost want to hold hand with him and express her love. This is the kind of teacher she want! It means she won't need to cater to teachers!

One of the noble students bristled. "T-That's completely unfair! You're saying that just anyone can bypass the system with a token?!"

The teacher lazily turned his head, blinking once.

"Yep."

The noble student looked like he was about to combust.

Yuna, however, simply smirked. Umm…she chooses her academy well.

"Well," she said, picking up the token and slipping it back into her sleeve, "I suppose it's good to know how flexible the system really is."

It should mean the students are not under strict regiments. That's what matter most to her.

The teacher gave her a long, tired look before muttering,

"…I already don't like you."

But I obviously like you! Geez….

Yuna only smiled. Magnanimous "I'll take that as a compliment."

Yuna took out the recovery potion and pass it to the student who was bleeding profusely.

"Drink up to heal your injuries"

Turning her head towards Austin, Yuna said "Lets go"

She officially finally enters the Academy ground.
