Chapter 35 - WOULD THEIR PAST STILL HAUNT THEM

The vampires gathered at their leader's opulent mansion, the air thick with the scent of old money and aged wine. They sipped their drinks, their eyes fixed on their leader, Harris, as they awaited his verdict on the meeting.

"Well, Harris, what do you think?" Murel asked, his voice low and measured. "Do you think we can truly trust the other supernaturals?"

Harris gaze turned cold, his eyes flashing with a hint of anger. "Trust them?" he repeated, his voice dripping with disdain. "Those werewolves killed my daughter, ravaged her in the streets like animals. I'll never forget that."

The room fell silent, the vampires exchanging uneasy glances. They knew Harris pain, had witnessed his grief when his daughter was taken from him. But they also knew that holding onto that anger would only lead to more bloodshed.

"Harris, we understand your pain," Lyra said softly, "but we must think of the greater good. The calamity threatens us all, and we need each other to survive."

Harris laugh was bitter. "The greater good? You think the werewolves care about the greater good? They only care about their own power, their own survival."

The room grew tense, the vampires sensing their leader's resistance. They knew that Harris hatred ran deep, but they also knew that they couldn't afford to let it consume them.

"Harris ,please," Muriel said, his voice gentle but firm. "We need your guidance, your leadership. We can't do this without you."

Harris's gaze lingered on murel, then swept the room, his eyes searching for something – anything – to justify his anger. But as he looked into the faces of his kin, he saw only concern, only a desire to move forward.

With a heavy sigh, he nodded, his shoulders sagging in defeat. "Very well. I'll play along with this farce, but know this: I'll never trust those werewolves, and I'll never forget what they took from me."

The vampires nodded, relieved that their leader had relented. But they knew that the road ahead would be treacherous, that the werewolves and other supernaturals would not easily forget the past.

As they sipped their drinks and discussed the future, they couldn't help but wonder: could they truly put aside their differences and unite against the coming darkness? Or would the ghosts of their past haunt them forever?
