"You're leaving?"
Jing Yuan sat across from Gu Tao. Ever since he invited her out, her mood hadn't been great. She had the nagging feeling that Gu Tao was bidding his farewell, but her position was particularly awkward—asking was inappropriate, not asking felt even worse.
"Not leaving. I'm going to take on a job that's extremely dangerous."
Gu Tao poured red wine for Jing Yuan and handed her a napkin—an unbelievably chivalrous gesture.
"How dangerous?"
"If it goes smoothly, the future will fall into place."
"And if it doesn't?"
"Then there won't be a future."
Jing Yuan's heart tightened when she heard this. She opened her mouth slightly, paused for a moment, and just as she was about to say something, Gu Tao interrupted her.
