My jaw clenched as pure lightning lanced through my body, nearly frying me from the inside out, 'Too much!'

I pulled back reducing the charge of my flux and my muscles stopped spasming violently just in time as well as I managed to turn around the corner instead of slamming face-first into the retaining wall. However, my supercharged dash hadn't been for naught as I looked behind me and stared at the look of surprise across Todoroki's face. The rare moment of emotion quickly vanished and the tide of ice pouring of out his hands surged, propelling Todoroki even faster. Seeing the competitive fire ignite in his eyes I could only grin before focusing on the static charge spread through my body.

My initial application had been sloppy and inefficient, allowing the electricity to spread throughout my body instead of channeling it honing the immense power. With a clap of thunder and a flash of purple lightning, the bottom of my pants exploded leaving behind ragged edges just above my knees along with my shoes. But I was only barefoot for a moment before flux erupted out of my skin crawling over my shins, feet, and ankles.

In the blink of an eye, my flux formed a set of futuristic-looking pitch-black boots fastened tight to me by a series of straps that reached halfway up my calf. Meanwhile, the insolated soles of the shoes constantly sparked with purple lightning that trailed behind me as I shot across the ground creating a magnetic field that propelled me forward.

I covered the first kilometer of the race in a matter of seconds, but my easy break away came to an end as I stared ahead at the densely clustered group of Villain Bots, ripped straight from the entrance exam. Though there were far more Three and Two Pointers, gathered in front of me than I had seen throughout the exam, and as one they came to life, their familiar red eyes glowing.

Had I found myself in a similar situation just a few weeks ago I would have stressed facing them head on but now staring at the masses of metal and wiring all I could feel was pity, 'Talk about a type disadvantage.'

Holding out a hand my flux streamed from my skin into the air in front of me forming a paper-thin hexagonal panel nearly a meter across. I then clenched my open hand into a fist shattering the panel into a swarm of individual shards. The air started to hum like a reactor starting up and the swarm began to glow as countless arcs of purple lightning bounced within the cluster with each passing second.

'Bonsai' I cheered in my mind as I splayed my fingers out and sent the cluster flying forward with a ear splitting crack. The swarm turned into a purple streak as it accelerated to Mach 1 into the blink of an eye arriving before the first row of villain bots and piercing through them like they were made out of paper leaving behind tiny glowing dots where the metal had vaporized on contact.

There was a moment where the villain bot continued to stand there as nothing happened, then the robots lit up like Christmas trees erupting as they discharged purple lightning into the air and their neighbors some of who hadn't been in range of my opening salvo.

Then in a cascading tide, the villain bots exploded as the immense voltage overloaded their internal systems converting them into 10-ton bombs.

The air roared as the sequential explosions whipped the surrounding space into a frenzy, but not even the cacophony of noise was enough to drown out the cry of approval from those in the stadium.

"AND JUST LIKE THAT KENJI ATOMA OF CLASS 1-A BLOWS PAST THE FIRST OBSTACLE WITH EASE!! JUST WHAT WAS THAT ATTACK I BARELY GOT A GLIMPSE BEFORE MAYHEM BROKE LOOSE!?"

I looked up as Midnight's voice echoed through the stadium and I looked up to see a replay of my clustered railgun plastered on every single screen and a cinematic shot of the villain bots exploding. The crowd went wild, they absolutely loved it.

I dashed through the burning remnants of my victims barely slowly down as I made it through the other side, recalling the flux I had fired while looking forward to what the next obstacle would be. Fortunately, I wasn't kept waiting long.

"It looks like Kenji Atoma has reached the second trial between him and the finish line, but I don't he'll be able to blast or speed his way out of this one!"

'Yeah no shit,' I thought in reply to Midnight's announcement as I stared at the massive chasm with several ropes stretched across that were clearly meant to be walked across. I gauged the gap's distance and my mind went to work calculating how fast I would have to be traveling in order to get across the chasm and how strong current I would need to generate to reach that speed, 'Yeah that's not happening, guess it's option two then.'

"OH MY GOD!!" Midnight gasped as without slowing down a bit I launched into the air sailing over the chasm my momentum carrying me for a breath before gravity started to take effect and pull me down.

But before I could fall an inch, I thrust my hand down and formed another panel, this time beneath my feet. The moment my shoes made contact with the pannel a shimmering field of lightning developed the hexagon and it shot forward propelling itself through the air with me riding it.

A few seconds later I jumped off the pannel hitting the ground and instantly taking off as the construct melted back into flux which streamed into my body.

"IN A STARTLING DISPLAY KENJI ATOMA HAS DEFIED GRAVITY AND CROSSED THE CHASM! IS THERE ANYTHING THIS YOUNG MAN CAN'T DO!?"

This time the cheers of the crowd were a distance thought as I grit my teeth trying to ignore the agonizing pins and needles shooting up and down my entire body. I had nearly fried myself pulling off that stunt and definitely wasn't capable of replicating it any time soon, 'I need to get better control of this lightning shit, or at least figure out a way to make myself shock resistant.'

As I continued to rocket down the track I kept my eyes peeled for the next obstacle only to frown when all I spotted was a white line drawn across the ground. Beyond it was the finish line with nothing but an empty stretch of land between them. I knew it was too good to be true and a second later my suspicions were confirmed as I spotted the tightly packed mounds of dirt, 'Are those fucking landmines?!'

"It seems as if our rising star has encountered the last and final obstacle he must overcome. All he has to do is make it across a live minefield, but he should be careful a single stray zap could set off a chain reaction!"

'This is insane,' I thought while crouching, 'Though it's somehow easier than crossing the chasm.'

Just as I crossed the white I placed my hand against the ground and a surge of flux poured from me rolling across the minefield and forming a black pathway outlining the way forward. Without slowing down I shot across my flux that absorbed all the energy created by my passing before it could trigger a single mine. In the blink of an eye, I came to a stop behind the checkered finish line and quickly retracted my flux.

Turning around to glance up at the crowd I grinned before lowering my head and raising my fist into the air. There was a moment of silence before the stadium erupted with cheers and applause.

"AND THERE YOU HAVE IT LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, KENJI ATOMA CROSSES THE FINISH LINE IN RECORD TIME WITHOUT BREAKING A SWEAT! EVERY OBSTACLE HE OVERCAME EFFORTLESSLY, WITH SPEED, POWER, AND TECHNIQUE! BUT VIEWERS I MUST ASK IS THIS THE LIMIT OF HIS ABILITIES OR ONLY JUST A HINT OF WHAT HE IS CAPABLE OF?!"

"That's it feed my ego, keep the glaze coming" I muttered grinning and lowering my fist with a sigh while rolling my neck and shaking out my limbs as the last of the pins and needles vanished.

Before I could turn back around there was a massive explosion and I felt the temperature plummet sending freezing cold air rushing past me, 'What the hell?'

Turning around I was just in time to catch sight of Midoriya throwing himself onto a mine while holding a piece of metal. On their side of him, Bakugo and Todoroki were lunging toward him clearly intent on stopping the green-haired boy.

'He's not really going to-' Before I could finish the thought Midoriya hit the ground and the mine exploded immediately sending Midoriya flying uncontrollably through the air across the finish line.

I sighed as the green-haired idiot soared past me but before he could crash into the ground a swarm of flux wrappings erupted from my back and latched onto Midoriya.

"T-thank's Kenji," Midoriya stammered his eyes watering from his impromptu flight as my wrappings set him on the ground next to me.

Instead of responding I flicked the idiot on the forehead, "I told you not to make it a habit!"
