"Good morning everybody! And welcome to the annual U.A Sports Festival!"

A sultry voice echoed through the stadium's public announcement system and people cheered as the massive screens around the arena lit up revealing the speaker, a mature woman with long dark purple hair consisting of several layers the lowest of which reached past her waist. The MC had a curvaceous body which was made all the more noticeable given her skin-tight hero costume which resembled a dominatrix especially combined with her whip and leather flail on her hip, "I Midnight the R-Rated Hero have the pleasure of being your announcer for this year's festivities. I hope everyone is okay with that."

The crowd, especially, the men in the crowd cheered wildly unable to resist the allure Midnight exuded as her plump lips pouted.

Midnight grinned before blowing a kiss towards the crowd from where she stood on a stage in the middle of the stadium, "Thank you, thank you, you're all too kind. But please save your applause and praise for the real stars of this event. Please join me in welcoming this year's freshman class!"

At Midnight's cue, the entire freshman class walked out onto the field and the crowd went wild as people cheered ready to see who among all the students would stand out.

Eventually, the students gathered around the stage and Midnight smiled as she turned to address them, "Would the player representative please join me on the stage and give an opening speech."

"Oh this is gonna be good," I muttered under my breath as I watched Bakugo march onto the platform a boastful grin on her face.

"Come on give her a little faith," Mina replied as we watched Bakugo take the microphone from Midnight before turning to face the entire freshman class.

"The only thing I have to say is that first place is mine!" Bakugo practically growled, glaring at the crowd who instantly roared back in disapproval and outrage, "If you got a problem with that come fight me! None of you half-cocked spineless bastards stand a chance against me!"

Midnight quickly took the microphone from Bakugo who didn't fight it and boldly returned to the crowd daring anyone to approach her.

"Alright thank you representative for the inspiring speech," Midnight grinned, "Now all of you back to the locker rooms your first trail is set to begin within the hour and I'm confident you'll need every second to prepare."

"Well Bakugo, royally fucked us over," Sero muttered as he pulled off his uniform and got changed into his gym clothes, "Every other class hates our guts!"

"Well, can you really blame them," Kirishima replied, "They all think we think we're better than them. I would be pissed too."

"Maybe we should send a peace offering or something?" Kaminari suggested with a tense look across his face, "The last thing we need is to be targeted by everyone else."

Sato grunted in disagreement, "To be honest I don't think there's anything we can say that would change their opinion. I saw the look in their eyes, they're out for blood."

"Well this is their chance to move up," Shoji added, "In many ways, they have more to gain than we do."

"Do not allow them to shake our conviction, we've all been training for this day and we were placed in 1-A for a reason," Tokoyami encouraged scanning around the locker room, "We should be more worried about the competition among ourselves."

"Oh believe me I'm worried about that as well," Kaminari joked though his jaw was clenched tight and his eyes glanced over to the other end of the locker room.

As I pulled on my shirt my mind was startling free of noise and distraction, but my body was alive with every nerve cluster firing in anticipation. I hadn't forgotten my promise to my mother and I had every intent of following it through. Not only for her sake but mine as well. I would be competing against the best in my generation, the people who I would one day see as my colleagues and rivals once we graduated. And I aimed to be the best, not out of pride but necessity.

I picked my gaze up from the floor and looked around the locker room at my classmates who would become my opponents in a matter of minutes. I had devised a plan against every last one of them, some more complex than others. But I could only strategize with the information I had, I knew for a fact I wasn't the only one who had improved, and no matter how weak I believed my classmates to be, there was always the chance they could surprise me.

But there were three people I wasn't entirely confident in taking down, who posed a threat to me even if they remained static and hadn't improved whatsoever. A possibility that was almost impossible given their personalities.

The first was Bakugo, her sheer explosive power, mobility, and aggressive nature were a trifecta that demanded respect and caution when going against.

The next was Todoroki, and while I hadn't seen him in action since the mock battle his ice boosted all of his capabilities allowing him to defend, attack, and avoid with a massive area effect on top of everything.

The very last may have been a surprise to many if I voiced it out loud, and truthfully it didn't make sense to me either, but whenever I thought about fighting Midoriya my gut told me to be cautionary. The only reason I could think of was his quirk, which was one big question mark, 'He can barely use it without breaking his bones...but maybe he finally figured out how to use it properly.'

Glancing over at Midoriya I was surprised to see that he was in the middle of a stand-off, 'Seem like I'm not the only one that thinks Midoriya is a threat.'

I watched out of the corner of my eye as Todoroki confronted Midoriya who looked just as surprised as I did that the aloof ice user had approached him.

While I couldn't make out any words their body language made it clear that it wasn't a friendly conversation, 'And the plot thickens.'

"And we're back and ready to begin the first event, the Perilous Obstacle Race!" Midnight's voice echoed through the stadium which had been completely transformed, "Students will have to make their way through nearly 4 kilometers of hazardous obstacles in the shortest time frame possible. The nature of this test will require them to adapt and employ their problem-solving skills in order to navigate the labyrinth ahead!"

Standing towards the front of the crowd clustered together at the start of the obstacle course, I looked ahead at the stretch of flat packed dirt, 'It's like the entrance exam all over again.'

The air was practically alive as people shouldered their neighbors aside eager to gain even an inch of a lead.

"On your marks, get set, go!"

All at once the tension that had been building up exploded as people lurched into motion and their quirks roared to life. But most were unable to react in time to avoid the creeping carpet of ice that spread across the ground and over people's feet freezing them in place before they could even take a step including my own.

At the same time, Todoroki rocketed ahead on a miniature glacier that dropped the surrounding temperature by several degrees.

"Damnit I knew this bastard would pull something like this," Kaminari roared even as he discharged a burst of electricity to shatter the ice before it could reach him.

And he wasn't the only one, as I looked around I realized that everyone in 1-A had managed to avoid Todoroki's trap.

'Well they never said impeding others was against the rules,' I thought still watching the ice spread across the ground as people caught began to free themselves.

'I guess I should stop messing around then.'

I exhaled, my breath frosting in the air but the freezing cold air was nothing compared to the icy current that rippled through my veins which swelled and blackened. But the electric current in my body continued to build and build until it couldn't be contained.

The ice around my feet shattered as purple lightning arced off my body snaking through the air and making my long hair stiffen into a spikey mane.

Bending my knees I wrapped my legs in flux that occasionally sparked with purple electricity before pushing off the ground and the world around me turned into a blur.
