Chapter 23 - Chapter 22 - Probing

-Yang's POV-

"Ughhhh…" Everything felt sore.

My ears rang like a siameze of bells and drums as my half lidded eyes shifted aimlessly in their sockets, taking in the spacious classroom. I squinted as my head pulsed from the brightness of the artificial lights.

Forcing my head off the desk, I slowly opened my eyes, immediately regretting the action before closing them.

Are these the so-called consequences of your actions?

Prying them open once more, my face scrunched like it would if zwei hadn't showered for days as I draped a lazy hand over my face.

This is the worst.

'I just had to use my aura didn't I?'

Usually, when someone breaks their aura, they shouldn't use it until it reaches the 20% threshold. But my dumbass went and did it anyway, and what did I get in return?

A migraine and unwelcomed background noise.

…Well, at least I got something worth the pain.

A strained, prolonged groan escaped my throat as I rested my head on my desk once more. Reaching into my pocket, I lazily flipped out my scroll to check the time—but was instead met with a black screen and a beeping red box.

I sighed, 'Great, my scroll's dead and my head's killing me. Thank you authorrrr.' I thought to myself less than enthusiastic about my suffering.

"Mr Tuk!" Ugh—damn, not so loud, "Not everyone is as interested in what happens on the television as you are. So leave your colleagues alone please?" A female said in an exasperated tone, I could almost hear her begging.

"But, Professor Peach, shouldn't everyone be aware of what Winchester Industries is doing for the faunus? Progressiveness like that hasn't been seen since the end of the Great War nearly a century ago." The boy—Tuk, replied, enthusiasm not lost on him, "A company not only taking the side of the minority—but also allowing them the chance to integrate into society is a thing to be shared among the masses, especially to faunus like myself."

As he finished his short speech, an awkward silence fell over the room.

"...I see your point, but this simply isn't the place to be discussing such happenings. Even if it's unintentional, you're hindering yourself and others from learning!" Professor peach retorted, her voice rising slightly to the end very much to my displeasure.

Tone it down a little.

"I get that! But-"

Cutting him off, a voice sounded from the seat behind me with a loud groan, "Hey man, I get that it's a big deal, but, I can't take another day of you yapping about how progressive Cardin's dad is, really." That one rando commented with a sigh, "I don't mean no hate, we just haven't been taught anything new since October because of you and we're in January now."

Shifting to make myself comfortable, I took a deep breath as I stared ahead…Honestly, I don't really care about what goes on in this class because I'm not really the flowers type, but, even though what he's saying is important, I agree with the rando on this one.

"He's got a point." Jaune chirped awkwardly from his seat a few rows to my right. "No matter how good of a person Cardin's dad is, I don't think it's right to bring up things related to faunus outside of Professor Oobleck's class—I-I'm not saying that you shouldn't, but right now really isn't the time."

After a few seconds of silence, Tuk replied, sounding deflated, "Okay…"

"It's alright." Professor P replied, addressing the class with a blinding smile—no seriously, her teeth were like flashlights.

"Now, today's lesson will be on the properties of certain herbs and their side effects!" She exclaimed, "After that, if we have time, we'll do something practical!" clapping as her smile practically radiated throughout the class, "Aren't you just excited to get started?"

Ignoring the woman, I sat up slightly from where I napped, my gaze shifting to my right where my sister sat, with a very focused Weiss between us swiping at her scroll.

I squinted as my head pulsed before resting my elbow on the desk with my palm lazily holding up half of my face, "...Hey, Rubes, have you seen my charger?" I drawled, massaging my temple softly with my free hand, "It's not in my pocket."

Shifting herself a tad, Ruby slipped a hand into her blazer's pocket and rummaged through for a bit before chugging her portable charger across Weiss' face and into my hand, earning her a glare from the ice queen.

"Thanks, sis." I muttered, plugging it into my phone before dropping on my beats and playing some well needed music.

Resting my head on my desk once more, I stared ahead deliriously as the thumping of my head gradually subsided, 'Ahhh, who said music doesn't heal the soul?'

I watched silently as my white clad professor glided her gloved hand across the black board, leaving white trails behind with each stroke. It looked like she was drawing some kind of flower.

Eyes flitting to either side of me, Weiss and Blake looked to be doing the same thing, their wrists moving across their digital plane smoothly. Ruby, on the other hand, was smiling deviously while scribbling on hers. She was definitely cooking up another abomination.

Huffing, my eyes nearly creaked shut before I suddenly noticed that the professor was finished drawing and turned to look at the class, her eyes almost instantly locking with mine.

Shit.

Her brows furrowed as she gestured for me to take off my headphones, which I reluctantly did with a groan, wincing as I readjusted to the elevated noise level of the room.

Sighing, the rose haired teacher adjusted her safety goggles, before pointing towards the board, "This, students, is the herb called Jimsonweed, or in flower terms, the Datura Stramonium."

The Datura wha..?

Her eyes remained glued to my tired ones as she repeatedly tapped the board with intent, indirectly telling me to pay attention…

I didn't want to though, "It's said to be useful in treating asthma, coughs and a few other things, but it isn't recommended by professionals."

She smiled at me and a shiver ran up my spine, "Can any of you tell me why?"

Don't pick me. Don't pick me.

I sat up in my seat, my headache had fully worn off by now so I wasn't feeling as sluggish. After a few beats she looked past me, "Yes, Mr Tuk?"

Yes!

I heard light clattering, he must've stood up. "Well, I'm not too sure why it isn't recommended but I do know that its seeds make you hallucinate when you inhale them."

'Hallucinate?'

Nodding, "That is correct. Anyone else?" she continued, her eyes glossing over the crowd before pausing at a particular section, "Yes, Ms Yuki?"

The class collectively turned their heads to the back, watching the aforementioned teen slowly rise to her feet. It was rare that she talked or even participated in any classes so it was a bit surprising.

"Jimsonweed isn't recommended seeing as it often causes dry skin, dizziness, fevers, mydriasis, urinary retention, tachycardia and sometimes death when used."

Now that sounds like one scaaary plant.

"That is 100% correct Ms Yuki!"

"Do any of you know where Jimson Weed can be found?" Professor asked again, but she didn't have to wait long because Saya answered again in that same flat tone of voice.

"It's an aggressive invasive weed grown in temperate and tropical climates such as Mistral, Vale and Menagerie." The class stared on in silence, our gazes shifting to meet the eyes of our lab coat Professor who's smile reached up to her ears.

"Correct again. Hahaha, you know alot about flowers don't you Ms Yuki. You may take your seat now." She permissed, gesturing for the girl to take her seat as she addressed the whole class.

"As Mr Tuk and Ms Yuki stated earlier, despite its benefits, Jimson weed isn't the best choice when it comes to concocting medicine. Due to it being classified as a type of weed it is…."

-.-

—3rd Person POV—

"-no, poison ivy isn't a natural numbing agent Nora, that's peppermint—why are you adding ginseng to the mix? Don't do that." Walking down from Team JNPR, the woman's gaze flitted to Team RWBY's desk two rows away seeing that, except Yang, they had made considerable progress, "Good, make sure the ratio stays 3:1, exceed it and you'll end up overdosing the patient."

Climbing the steps leisurely, the white clad professor gave verbal pointers to the hunters-to-be, only stepping in physically when they really needed it.

Sighing, Professor Peach rested a hand on her hip, slowly analyzing the sea of students from her desk at the front. Out of a class of 37 students only just over a handful were up to par. And out of that handful, 3 were most notable.

The first was Velvet. She was the only repeater this year, so it was a given that she'd be substantially better than the rest of first years.

The second was Saya. Honestly, she frightened her.

She's never met a student who was that knowledgeable and adept at medicine before. The girl knew everything to do with flora—their benefits, drawbacks, everything.

Third was Weiss, while the girl wasn't as knowledgeable as Saya or as experienced as Velvet, she was still a cut above the rest due to her diligence. Whatever she didn't know she came to her.

She was glad that she had such capable students this year but she'd be lying if she said she wasn't a little disappointed at the low numbers.

Ringgggg

Huffing, "Alright everyone, that's it. After you clean up your stations, you can all head to lunch. Next class we'll be discussing field knowledge and geographical study. Or in other words, how to use your surroundings." She spoke, waving away the group of headaches as she walked out the door.

As the woman took her leave, the class began to chat amongst themselves while cleaning up their stations.

Stretching her limbs, Yang look back towards the pink haired beauty at the back of the class, who was quietly cleaning up her station with her team.

The blonde's eyes narrowed slightly, 'Maybe…'

Turning back to her desk, the blonde absentmindedly cleaned up her work area as her classmates did the same.

-.-

"Hey Saya, whatcha up to?" Pausing by the staircase, the aforementioned girl looked over her shoulder, her pensive gaze meeting the warm smile of the busty blonde, "Aren't you gonna eat lunch with us today?" Yang queried.

She shook her head, "Oh, uh, are you busy or anything?" Yang added another question with a slightly awkward smile.

Saya's head gradually leaned into a partial tilt, her fuschia strands shifting along with her limited movement. "What do you want?" She cut to the chase, her pensive gaze engulfing the entirety of the blonde student whose own eyes reflected some degree of anxiety, however faint.

Scratching her head, the blonde laughed, "Haha, well, I wanted to ask for a favor but I wasn't really sure how."

She wasn't eating lunch with us today so that means her brother wouldn't either. This was one of the rare times when they were separated from each other so she definitely didn't want to pass up on this chance.

But the real problem was that they never really spoke much before, courtesy of her brother of course. That made it hard for her to come up with the right words so this whole conversation just felt kinda weird. Ha, it kinda reminded her of the first time she spoke to Blake.

Getting back on track, the reason why she came to Saya instead of anyone else was because she didn't seem like the type to care about people's business if it didn't involve her directly, well, that and the fact that she knew a lot about the thing she wanted—but gods it was hard to keep a convo anything.

It felt like she was talking to a wall.

"Wellllll…" She droned, "I was wondering if you could maybe… help me get some of that hypno stuff." Her voice died out, glancing at her requestee's face with a slightly hopeful squint.

Saya raised a brow, "...Why?"

"Oh, I was gonna get some inf—I meAN prank Ruby with it, hehe, y'know, give her a lil scare." Yang animated with a near shaky chuckle, 'That was close!'

Locking eyes with the unresponsive teen for a moment, Yang cleared her throat before averting her gaze again, "Besides, flowers kinda aren't my thing and you seemed pretty good at it from what I see."

"Why not ask Weiss or Velvet?" Saya asked. It was a good question, though, it earned a deadpan from the taller teen who immediately dismissed the suggestion with a wave, "Yeah, no, Weiss would die before letting me near one of those. She'd probably interrogate me afterwards." she shrugged, "Plus, Velvet and I aren't exactly close so she's a no go too. I came to you cuz you're the only option."

She could have gone to either Weiss or Velvet, but the only reason she didn't was because she'd either be pressed with a bunch of questions she didn't want to answer or be outright rejected. And, unlike Velvet who probably would just decline, Weiss would definitely keep pestering her until she found out the real reason.

Huffing softly, Saya signaled with her hand for the girl to follow her down the stone steps.

Yang's face lit up, fisting the air with a large grin, "Sweet!" she chirped.

-.-

Trudging through Vale's ever busy nightlife, the busty blonde made her way down the crowded street, her lilac orbs hidden behind partially tinted sunglasses.

(Why was she wearing them? I do not know)

Her golden locks flowed with the gentle winds as she drew away from the busy crowd. She donned a cream colored mini blazer dress that stopped just below her waist, the open front doing well to air out the top half of her sizable bust. She also wore a black long sleeved cropped high cut leather hoodie that folded at the elbow to reveal a smooth gold with a hue no different to Ember Celica.

On her feet were a pair of black boots with gold accents that did well to blend with her thigh length stockings that connected to her skin tight shorts via strap.

Hanging from her waist was a lilac cloth that brought together her head turning ensemble.

Yang glanced around as she strolled down the street, her eyes finding the near predatory gazes of the older men around her with a hidden scorn as she happened upon the worn door of a bar. Her head slowly tilted upwards, eying the building with narrowed eyes as she took off her glasses and recalled the events of the night before, "Yep, this is the place alright."

Taking a slow, deep breath, Yang hooked her glasses on her mini blazer. Before she left her dorm, she had told her team that she was going out to a party—though it wasn't a lie, it wasn't really the truth either.

But what could she do? If she told them that she was gonna hit up a bar she saw Torchwick visit they'd wanna tag along.

But if they did that then…

Reaching into her pocket, Yang pulled out an old picture of four individuals, her eyes lowering just a bit as she sighed and hid it away with a huff, "Anyways, let's get this over with."

Walking up to the metal door, Yang's mind wandered back to her time with Saya.

Squatting, the pink haired beauty reached down into the weed infested ground and plucked out five or so leaves from the white trumpet flower. Crushing it in her gloved palm, she sprinkled the crumbs into a small tube with water before closing the lid and gently shaking it.

"That's it?" Yang spoke, her brow raised in genuine curiosity, "I thought you'd need more than that for the effects to kick in."

Still stirring the leafy liquid, Saya made no motion to turn towards the girl from her squatted position, voicing her reply in a raspy, apathetic tone of voice, "Any more is fatal."

Yang's eyes widened like pinpricks, her lips parting for a prolonged whistle seeing the girl raise the tube to the sun, "That's pretty scary, huh."

The blonde could feel her lips quirk into a satisfied smile as the color of the liquid changed from transparent to translucent. 'Sweet! If I knew getting it was this easy I wouldn't have been so nervous.'

Looking up at the blonde with an indiscernible gaze, Saya gradually stood to full height, taking a step back, "It's finished." She said, holding up the mixture.

"Awright!" Giddy, Yang snatched the object from Saya's hand. Atleast, she thought she did.

"Why do you really want it, Yang?" Her fuschia gaze found the faltering lilacs of the blonde as she spoke.

The girl felt her heart skip a beat as a nervous chuckle crept from the depths of her throat, 'Calm down Yang, she doesn't know.' "What do you mean?" the taller girl averted her gaze with a shaky smile, "I already told you, I'm gonna prank Ruby with it. So could you—"

"No." Saya cut her off, striding by the taller girl with avid disinterest, her simple action causing Yang's composure to crack at the sight.

"Wha—Wait!" Yang panicked, she couldn't let her leave like that—"H-hey, where're you going?" she called out, grabbing the girl's hand, "If you're gonna leave a-at least give me the tube before you go."

Yang could tell, Saya had somehow caught on to her lie. She didn't know how, but it happened.

Turning her head, the girls' eyes met once again, wavering lilacs lost in the depths of still rose pinks. They stared at each other for a few breaths with the pink haired beauty narrowing her eyes just a bit before releasing a soft huff.

"...Here." Finally, Saya relinquished the tube, ripped her hand away and continued her trudge out of the red tinged forest; not once sparing a glance back at the blonde.

Yang stared at the retreating teen with a troubled expression while fidgeting with the freshly manufactured drug in her possession. What if she told the Professor? "If you're worried I'll tell, don't." She heard the girl say as she disappeared as her back grew even smaller.

Honestly, she didn't know whether to be grateful for her help or fearful of her intelligence.

Smiling softly, she entered through the front door, 'I guess I don't have to worry about it right now.' making her way down the short staircase, its entirety illuminated by dust powered fluorescent light. Looking ahead, the girl spied two men in tuxedo stationed at either side of another door at the end of the staircase.

Stopping by said door, Yang smiled and waved at the men who visibly blushed at the gesture as she opened the second door and entered. Luckily for her, the door actually opened without a password or anything along those lines, for a place like this they're pretty lax.

Smirking, she was met with a dark corridor that seemed to curve like a C. Accompanying the ever receding darkness, the clear sound of upbeat music assaulted her ears. She didn't hear a peep before, so that means that the place was soundproof, which explains why she couldn't hear anything yesterday.

Without further ado, the blonde bombshell strutted into the club, flashing lights of red and purple assaulting her vision as music boomed loudly in her ears. Her lilac orbs flowed like water through the crowded interior, finding the bar after a few moments.

Striding forward, Yang entered the crowd of dancing individuals, slinking through the gaps as she quickly inched closer to her destination. Stopping momentarily, she declined a few offers to dance before carrying on until she finally reached the counter and plopped down on the stool with a huff.

She wasn't even there for 10 minutes and she was already sick of this place.

"First time here?" A man asked as he siddled up next to her.

Yang rolled her eyes, 'Great, another one.' Just how many of these guys is she gonna turn down?

Ignoring the man to her left she turned her gaze to the bar behind the counter where she sat, seeing that the bartender wasn't at his station.

She could almost feel the man ogling her from her peripheral vision.

"Hey now, don't be so distant." He said, "We came to have some fun right?" Reaching for the girl's shoulder, he was denied with an impromptu slap to his wrist before it even thought to breach the distance.

Turning to him, the blonde wore a thin smile, "You can have fun, just not with me."

The man stared at her wide eyed as he retracted his hand before his face morphed into a furious expression, "You little bi-"

"Mario, why the hell aren't you at your station?" A man growled as he stepped behind the counter. He had a tall build, his black vest neatly secured over a white dress shirt and a red tie.

He had short black hair along with a beard and matching mustache that complimented his copper skin tone. Yang smirked, this was the guy.

"Now, stop slacking, or I'll cut your pay."

"Haha, sorry boss." The man, now named Mario, grunted, shooting the man an apologetic glance as he got up and left.

The man opposite the counter, sighed, he felt like he'll get a headache from just how useless his henchmen really were. He wondered when he'd finally get some fresh hands.

"Hey there, handsome." The blonde opposite him called as she leaned forward, her eyes an enchanting pair of lilacs that effortlessly drew his gray gaze, "You look like the kinda guy to have exactly what a girl needs." She said, her lips quirking up into a smooth smirk.

Whether knowingly, or unknowingly, junior was left with a double whammy of eye candy seeing as she he had a clear view of her cleavage from that angle.

He leaned down, his face mere inches apart as he leveled the girl an amused gaze, "What makes you think I do?" He replied smoothly.

Reaching forward, she smoothed her palm up the length of his bent arm and met his gaze with an endearing one of her own. Grabbing his tie, she pulled him a bit closer and whispered, "Let's head to the back and see what you can do."

Junior felt his heartbeat accelerate by a few throbs as he leaned in for a kiss, however, the lady pulled back at the last second and stood up, still smirking, "Give me a bottle of tequila."

"This one's on the house." Junior grinned as he rejected the lien. Admittedly, it was rare for him to score such a hotty especially with Melanie and Miltia always lurking around the place.

He felt kinda proud of himself.

She felt disgusted with herself.

Yang felt like she was about to puke her guts out. She didn't like being objectified one bit especially considering she was only 17. But, she couldn't really complain, seeing as it was the best and fastest way to get him alone without causing a ruckus.

Luckily for her, the mission was about 90% done at this point so she didn't have to pretend for long.

Closing the door behind him, the tall man strolled up to the blonde and wrapped his arms around her waist. Yang felt a shiver run up her spine as the man's hand encroached upon her rear, resisting the instinctive urge to sack him in the jaw.

Looking up, their eyes met and Junior leaned in. But once again, he was denied a kiss. Only now, he hadn't been met with air but the distinct scent of the girl's purple handkerchief.

"What're you…" He wasn't even allowed time to process what had happened before his mind went hazy.

Still cupping her hand to the man's face, Yang immediately pulled away as his hold around her waist loosened, 'Did it work?' She thought to herself as she watched the gray eyed man stand as still as a statue.

Stashing the kerchief away, Yang released a breath she didn't know she was holding as she regarded the taller individual once more. As much as she wanted to sack him in the nuts for harassing a minor, she had to hold it in. She didn't know if physical trauma like that would make him recover and she wasn't really sure how long it would last anyway.

Regardless, she should do what she came to do.

Pulling out her scroll, Yang opened it and clicked on a picture of Roman Torchwick before drawing closer and holding the illuminated screen to the man's face, "Talk. Why did you meet up with Torchwick last night? What were you two talking about?"

Junior's muddled eyes slowly lowered to the man on the screen before raising back to Yang just as slowly, "He was…asking for some info…and wanted to borrow...some of my men."

Narrowing her eyes, she asked, "What information?"

"He wanted…to know about…the SDC's next shipment…he and my guys…were gonna hijack it…and loot all the dust."

He's gonna rob the SDC? Wait—"When's the shipment? What day is it?"

"January…20."

Yang felt her eyes widen a bit, that's roughly 2 weeks from now. She was sure that his intel was spot on cuz Weiss told her the same thing yesterday. More importantly, how'd he know the exact date it'll be coming in when Weiss, the company heiress, wasn't sure of it?

Just what kind of connections does this guy have?

Yang stood in silent contemplation, wracking her brain on what to ask next. She already knew about Torchwick's plan to hijack the SDC shipment and if she asked Weiss she could know the exact time of day and place the shipment will be docked. After a while of uncharacteristically serious contemplation, Yang settled on her next question.

"Where is Torchwick's hideout?"

Her question made the dazed man pause as he stared ahead, a few seconds passed, "It's…It's…I…Don't know…"

Yang's brows furrowed into a frown as she gripped him by the time and yanked him closer, her eyes flashing a deep crimson. "Where is Roman's hideout?" She more so demanded rather than asked.

After a brief period, "I…Don't know…Roman…Doesn't stay in one place…So I can't…pinpoint where he lives." Junior reiterated.

Her frown deepening, the blonde reluctantly released the man and clicked her tongue. She walked past him, she should be grateful that she managed to get any info at all out of him, but it still annoyed her that she couldn't find out where he was.

It would make her life a lot easier—pausing, Yang's face morphed into an unreadable expression, seemingly conflicted about whether to do what she was thinking or not.

She closed her eyes, a few seconds passed before she reopened them. She didn't know if Junior had access to information like that, but…'It's worth a shot.' she smiled a grim smile.

Pulling out a picture of four individuals, Yang held it in front of Junior's face before pointing at the woman in red and black, "What do you know about her?"

-.-

Melanie and Miltia stood in the crowded bar, watching as the absurd group of individuals partied like animals. They didn't really get what was so good about partying, but Junior did and he got paid for it as well. So they weren't complaining.

Speaking of Junior, a pair of cool green eyes flitted towards the counter a few feet across, "Melanie." spying a peculiar sight.

"Yeah, Miltia?" The other girl replied, her gaze also fixed to that particular spot. Watching as the blonde talked up junior, Miltia's eyes narrowed just a bit, "Who is that girl?"

Melanie mirrored her sister's reaction as the two individuals disappeared into the back rooms, "I don't know Miltia, but we should teach her a lesson." she said.

Who does she think she is to waltz in and steal their (self proclaimed) man? They were about to beat the breaks off of her.

-.-

Yang glared menacingly into Junior's disoriented eyes, yanking him hard as she shook him roughly, "I said tell me where she was!" She snapped, her golden hair bursting into flames as her lilac eyes burned a deep crimson.

The faintest inklings of hope welled up in her chest but was quickly overshadowed by her growing trepidation. This man definitely knew about her, she could practically feel it in her bones.

"She…"

Knock knock knock

"He's busy."

KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK

"HE'S BUSY!"

KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK!!!

Yang snapped, "DAMMIT! I SAID HE'S BUSY!—"

The metal door BLEW off its hinges like a rocket, forcing Yang to jump out of the way of the incoming scrap. She dragged Junior with her, the impact of the fall causing him to cough in pain.

Yang noticed this and narrowed her eyes at the place the door once was, right when she was so close to finding out too...just her luck.

Waltzing in, a duo of unknown individuals made their presence known.

The one on the left wore a red strapless dress with black grills that was patterned with newspaper articles with the headings, "A New York la pop art di Alborghetti", "Amity Arena", and "New York Fine Art". Her pale green eyes were embedded into her face—heavily doused in red makeup—that drew attention away from her short bob styled hair with a straight fringe.

Her dress had a black and dark red lace layered tulle that hung more than the dress. Around her waist was an off center belt accented by a pair of red thigh high boots with black heels alongside white lace-up detail. On her arms were two claw shaped weapons that followed a similar color scheme as the rest of her attire.

Next to her, stood a girl with identical features. She had the same hairstyle and makeup as the other girl, the only difference being her make up was cyan based.

Around her neck was a fluffy white scarf that went well with her high heels that housed blades at the back. She wore the same type of dress and clothes as the other girl as well, only the color scheme was changed to white and cyan instead of red and black.

Their pale green eyes honed in on the burning red's of Yang's before flitting to the now groaning Junior. The blonde's face twisted into a frown as she cursed under her breath before rushing to get out of the room.

She didn't even make it to the door before a red and black claw came swiping across her throat. Her eyes widened as she ducked, but unfortunately for her, the girl's sister chipped in with a well timed frontal kick that landed in her raised guard, forcefully halting her advance.

"Miltia, was she trying to run away?" The blue one said, crossing her arms as the red one repositioned herself next to her, "I think she was, Melanie."

Lowering into a stance, the twin called Melanie spoke, "Then, should we send her off with a beating, Miltia?" Her sister took a stance of her own as well, "I think we should, Melanie."

Yang's eyes narrowed into a deep knitted frown, a lone bead of sweat forming on her forehead as she eyed the two individuals. If she went full throttle from the start, she could take them both out

But the real problem was what came after that.

Her semblance siphons off 2x her aura. If the three of them went at it right now then she would lose atleast 60-80% by the time the fight ends. After that, she might have to deal with junior's goons along with junior himself.

Yang's fists slowly tightened, If her aura breaks one more time, then she'd be feeling a heck of a lot more pain in the morning.

"Ughhh…" Her eyes flitted to the man on the ground who clutched at his head as he rose to his feet. A few moments passed as the man shook off the lingering effects of the hypnosis, "Damn…what happened?"

The blonde must've done something to him that took him out.

Looking up, he saw the blonde bombshell standing between him and the malachite twins. The blonde seemed anxious while the twins, on the other hand, looked pissed.

Ignoring the piercing looks he received, Junior grunted as he locked eyes with the blonde, "Don't let her escape."

Glancing back to the twins, Yang released a breath she didn't know she was holding, 'I gotta get outta here someho—'

Before she could even finish her thought, Miltia's clawed hand zipped towards the blonde's wide eyes. Immediately swivelling yo the side, Yang barely avoided the attack. However, before she could regain her bearings, a bladed heel twisted towards her face.

Acting quickly, she grasped the outstretched appendage and grunted as she swung the cyan themed girl into her crimson counterpart before dashing out of the room as they tumbled to the ground.

"Don't let her get away!" Junior barked, taking chase as the twins regrouped and did the same.

Yang sprinted through the short hall, reaching for the doorknob—only to be denied the handle as a foot crammed into the thick metal.

The blonde's palm clenched into a fist. She swung a backhand at the cyan-themed teen, but her target dodged nimbly, twisting mid-air. The teen countered with a swift kick, her foot connecting with Yang's chin and lifting her off the ground with a stifled cough.

Just then, Miltia's claws slashed through the air toward Yang's midsection. The blonde narrowly evaded, propelling herself upward with a burst of combustion dust from Ember Celica.

Flipping in mid-air, her feet briefly kissed the ceiling before she rocketed down with bent knees, boosted by another dust blast. Her knees crashed into Miltia's unguarded back, driving her to the floor as her aura flickered.

Yang hopped to her feet, but her eyes quickly darted upward. A cyan blade arced toward her skull. She raised her left hand just in time, halting the blade mere inches from her face.

Her knee buckled slightly from the force of the blow, but she shot a glare at the green-eyed girl. However, her focus broke as the other twin's fist slammed into her side, drawing a pained wince.

Melanie pressed her attack, stepping on Yang's toe to pin her in place. With her leg still raised, she whipped it across Yang's face in a swift, diagonal strike.

Yang growled, falling to one knee. A sharp object raked across her back with a ragged swing, and she screamed in pain.

Instinctively, she swung her hand backward, aiming to hit her attacker. But her arm was caught—trapped in Junior's tight, two-handed grip.

"You're not going anywhere Blondie." He said, holding her other hand in place as well.

Clicking her tongue, Yang's eyes fell onto the cyan themed twin before her. The girl spun, her leg cracking her across the face.

The poor blonde was allowed no chance to block or retaliate as the opposite colored twins greeted her with a malignant flurry of bladed blows. With each strike came a piercing pain that mercilessly tore through her rapidly dwindling aura.

"Y'know, I really didn't wanna do this."

Clenching her teeth, Yang's hair flashed gold.

Bang!

The heavy metal door flew off its hinges as the opposite colored twins crashed through the party and careened into a section of the wall right above the venue's DJ.

Immediately, the music stopped and multiple members of the crowd began to panic and run around while screaming.

Rushing out of the hall, the blonde tried to leave by way of mingling with the crowd but was denied her escape as Junior's angered shouts rang out among the plethora of screams.

"SOMEBODY CATCH THAT DAMN BLONDE! DON'T LET HER GET AWAY!"

Grimacing, Yang's eyes darted around the chaotic interior as she continued her sprint; making a b-line for the door. Suddenly, a man dove from the crowd. She managed to evade him but his lungs was followed by a series of others doing the same with one managing to get a hold of her hair and yank her back.

She hissed passionately as her lilac eyes flashed burning red, "Let me GO!" Her hand snapped back, swatting the man away. Almost immediately he was replaced by two more people, then four, then six, then ten—the numbers just kept on increasing until about a large number of them had piled up on top of her.

"URYAAA!" Yang bellowed, bursting from the thicket of bodies with a golden flourish before turning into a penetrating knee strike from her cyan adversary with the bladed heels. Coughing, she caught herself mid stagger and swung a mighty fist that connected with nothing but air.

Head snapping down, she merely dodged a spin kick from the twin she had attacked and rolled out of the way of the blades belonging to the other just before they dug into the spot she once stood.

Flipping to her feet, she cocked her gauntlets, eyes darting around the room while breathing heavily. Eyes widening, she weaved out of the path of a leg that ended up embedded in the wall behind her, countering with well timed straight. Unfortunately, her attack was forced off course as the claws of the other zipped towards her face, prompting her to dodge awkwardly with the ends of the blade nipping her skirt.

'Dammit! Don't they ever get tired?! I'm running on fumes here!'

Yang winced, firing a round of combustion dust to create some well needed distance between her and everyone else as she observed the room.

Just her luck, the last of the party goers had just ran out and now the only exit's being heavily guarded. The twins're eyeing her too. How was she gonna get out now?

Eyes blurring briefly, she reached into her clothes, taking a quick peek at her scroll.

32%

'My aura's bottoming out. I've got only one more use. Better make it count.' Placing it back, she carefully surveyed the room, looking for a way to get away.

Suddenly, she recalled her fight with Ren as her eyes flitted towards the window situated to the side of the bar.

"Miltia," The cyan themed twin narrowed her eyes, "Let's get her."

Saying that, the two wordlessly dashed forward, elegantly zigzagging as they quickly closed the distance. Miltia jumped, her clawed hand extending forward to meet Yang's outstretched right gauntlet, producing a metallic echo as their weapons clashed. Eyes shifting downward, Yang rose her left leg, simultaneously dodging a leg sweep and countering with a kick of her own.

Melanie scoffed as she rolled back before lunging into a straight kick that barely got deflected by a round of Yang's combustion dust. Melanie twisted, her clawed hand slinking past the blonde's defenses and raking across her arm, her attack being followed by a few lackeys hopping into the fray.

Clenching her teeth, Yang moved her head to dodge a punch from one of them before grabbing that same henchman and using him to hit the other, putting them both out of commission before addressing the twin's double attack just in time with a raised guard.

Unfortunately, Miltia's kick slipped through and rammed into her gut, pushing her into the grasp of the henchmen which she immediately broke out of only to be decked in the face by a table.

Falling backwards, she forced herself to roll out of the way of a Melanie's falcon drop and began sprinting towards the bar with both twins taking chase.

She skillfully slipped through a sequence of grasps as her wide purple eyes lifted to meet junior's. He smirked, "I've got you now." Whipping out his launcher, he fired.

The bullet exploded with great ferocity, kicking up a massive dust of smoke. Observing the scene, the bespectacled man suddenly paled when he realized—she wasn't there.

"Hey! Eyes up here bozo!" Yang bellowed, gripping the chandelier and hurtling it towards the tall man. Ducking just in time, he managed to avoid the attack but the bottles behind him took the full brunt of it.

Still in the air, Yang cocked her fist 'One chance!' her hair flared gold as she flew forward, bursting right through it with a semblance amped punch from ember celica that broke the window as well as the wall on the way out.

Crashing harshly into the asphalt below, she rolled several feet before coming to a stop on her knees. Forcing herself to her feet, her heavy breaths were cut short as she immediately began running away without looking back.

-.-

Huff huff

Sprinting through the land illuminated by the false sun, the busty blonde released breathy pants entered Vale's commercial district. Her feet clambering against the ebony asphalt as her blonde hair flowed behind her in erratic patterns.

She dashed into an alley before falling to her knees in a weary heap as she tried to catch her breath. Inspecting herself, she saw that her clothes had various tears, luckily, she could patch them up before anyone notices.

Taking a deep breath to compose herself, Yang huffed before frowning immediately after.

The malachite twins were stronger than she thought. They were also way harder to deal with as a pair, and it didn't help that she had to deal with Junior's goons too.

The blonde sighed, she was so tired she could sleep through a hail of bullets. Slowly, she rose to her feet, grunting at the pain that accompanied her movements. Even though aura stops an attack from doing actual damage, it doesn't take away the pain.

Walking down the alleyway, she winced from the pain as she used the wall as support. Her face morphed into a contemplative wince. Although she managed to get what she wanted she still felt like she lost out on a lot.

She bit her lip before chuckling involuntarily as she slouched to the dirty ground again, "I was so close too…" Her eyes shifted to the piece of paper in her hand, their lilac pools like a chasm of melancholy as she brought it closer to her face.

The moon's glare peeked through the desolate alleyway and fell upon a picture in the girl's grasp. On a pole perched a raven, with feathers of pitch black, its red pearls gazed at the girl sitting quietly in the empty alley below.

A beat of silence passed before the night wind picked up, blowing her hanging strands of gold to the side and revealing a somber expression to the bird, "I'll find you soon…" her lips read as a woeful smile etched into her face. Pressing the photo sofly against her chest, her final words faded out into the quiet night.

Though, the raven caught it and opened its wings as it took flight.
